The problem I have with Paul Ryan is... his wife's not that hot. Ann Romney when she was young was better looking. Then again, so was Mitt, so I can't say he batted out his league considering his dad was a governor and presidential hopeful.

Of course, I'd take either woman to Obama's battle-ax of a wife.

For the record, I don't "like" Obama. I think he'd a be a better cat to kick it with than either one of those boring stiffs on the Repub ticket, but he's disappointed me with his political cowardice. Definitely the better of the two evils, though.

Romney's helped by the fact that Repubs and Republican leaners poll as more likely to vote than Democrats and liberal voters.

Obama will probably still narrowly win on the back of America's changing demography. In any previous election cycle, all else in the economy being equal, he would lose and lose soundly. Sorry white folks - people like me are about to make it impossible for an all white male ticket like Romney Ryan to ever win the White House ever again.

I want Romney to win but I can't vote for him based off his war-mongering, let's bomb Iran to defend Israel foreign policy. Democrats meanwhile seem to have transformed from the party of the working class to the party of gays, entitled middle class career women and single moms, and poor folks in the inner city who have given up on the idea of ever working again.

I'm not sure. A gallop poll today just showed Romney being 6pts up on Obama. This was taken before the debate. We'll see how things shake out over the week. This race is going the distance, that's for sure.

I'm not sure about that. After Obama, I don't see too many viable non-white candidates in the pipeline. Bobby Jindal maybe, but I don't think non-whites will be voting for him in large numbers because he's a Republican. Maybe Marco Rubio, but then I don't consider him non-white, he's a Cuban Hispanic of obvious European ancestry. Another thing, even if America becomes a non-white majority nation, that's no guarantee that the presidents will become all non-white. Look at Latin America. I think America will just become like an English-speaking version of Brazil. Most the wealth, land and political power will still be majority white, even if they are a demographic minority.

What trips me out though is that Obama should be higher in the polls than he is. Look how much Bush fucked things up by 2004. If he didn't lose the election given all the failures of his administration I don't know why the hell Obama should. I'm not trying to race troll, but I do think Obama probably loses anywhere from 5-10 percentage points just by being black. Does anyone think that at least 5-10% of America isn't redneck? I'm not saying that's ALL it is, but when you're talking about a razor thin contest like this, it makes a difference.

I hear you, but keep in mind most of this pandering to identity politics(women, gays, single moms, etc) is just lip service. I mean what is any president realistically going to do to enforce that women get paid 100% what men do? Nothing. They just want someone to get up there and say, "I hear your pain". Okay, I'll take that over the unholy alliance of Wall Street bankers, war hawks and religious fundamentalists that think the theory of evolution should be banned.

Well I can text him and tell him to look at this thread. We talk like that all day at work mimicking old school Greeks here. But as I told you guys I'm American. Both my parents born in the states. My grandfather on dads side is old school French Canadian going back to the Champlain days. My Grandmother was born in Scotland. Moms fam is all Greek. My name first and last is as French as it gets. Yeah. I'm probably in the narrow sub-section of voters who would prefer Romney on points to Obama but would prefer Obama to Bush.

Come to think of it - that might not be such a narrow demographic. It might describe a plurality of undecideds.

I voted for Obama in 2008 to grumpy old McCain... even though I liked McCain kinda in 2000 and met him soon after that election and he seemed like a cool dude.

I'm okay with whoever wins to some extent because my dad wants Obama to win very badly and he's retired - so I want him to be happy.

I would just conclude this meandering post by saying that even lip service can be dangerous. The media is hammering the drum beat on the women's vote, women's health, and women's issues in this election *like never before*. This could well drive men away from the Democrats and finally away from both parties. Just as well.

It does sound like race trolling. The guy got elected once so how is it a race thing?

I watched some the networks analysis after the debate. I don't fully buy into their numbers since it was so quick after the debate but it may be the reason why Obama isn't showing better numbers.

It was interesting since they had Obama as winning the debate but the numbers were better for Romney when it came to people believing he would do a better job with the economy.

So it seems people resonate with Obama more (not hard to see why) but believe he may not be the right candidate when it comes to things like the economy. It will be interesting to see if people vote for who they like compared to who they think would be better.

Please, speak, stop with the Bush stuff. He was a bad president, he barely won his second term but you seem to be fixated on the guy.

The government influences businesses with their policy. One big one is taxation besides regulations. Romney is right, governments have no business trying to create jobs.

We are all selfish, not just corporations. Instead of blaming the companies for being greedy (like a woman wanting a free Obama phone), you should be wondering what incentives made them close shop here and open overseas. We are in a global market now and the US hasn't seen fit to adapt in order to be competitive.

Companies are already coming out with promises of layoffs and cutting of hours to minimize qualified candidates under the new health care.

Dividends being taxed more under the health care will more than likely shrink investments into companies and thus hurting expansions.

Many IT companies have billions of dollars sitting overseas because of lower taxes. That money isn't doing our economy any good.

I don't blame them and am thinking of taking my company overseas to do the same thing. I can hire Polish programmers and never spend a dime in the US again. I can pay myself a measly salary that is totally tax free because I don't live in the US.

You see, I made the decision to work 70 to 80 hours a week for the past 5 years. I decided to develop the skills needed to build my own company. There was times I was broke but never asked for a handout. I didn't think it was right since it was my choice to go down this road. I sacrificed and I am in the position where I could be creating jobs now. Either way, if I want to grow my business faster I would have to go overseas since I would be saving a ton of money.

I would rather stay in the US and hire American workers but the salaries are higher here and being taxed twice on the same income is less than desirable.

Maybe you can build a business and help some Americans out with jobs? Don't be greedy, do it for your country.

So, with all that said, I don't think Obama will fix that stuff. I believe he has made it less desirable to doing business here. I don't know if Romney will either but I leaning towards Romney right now. I haven't decided yet. This is the stuff that is important to ME so that is what I am focusing on.
