I've watched the first two seasons multiple times on netflix. Archer personifies alpha.

Concerning your comment about the third season, do they start betaizing him or something? I never catch the show on FX and they haven't released the recent seasons on DVD apparently.

Yeah, they start shitting on him more to punish him for his alpha behavior. They let people like Cyril and Pam win more emotional victories, too. Archer also gets "one-upped" more often by random characters, who are often in one or two episodes. I know Archer is supposed to be one of those guys who doesn't try at his job, but he has been a professional spy for something like 15 years. I don't like seeing him get one-upped by people who aren't even field agents. I like seeing him personify the asshole attitude and get away with it.

I saw the entire third season about 3 months ago, I don't remember all the details, but I did not like what I saw. I'm pretty sure they betaized Archer a little bit.

Quagmire isn't 'alpha', but he's definitely a player and would be a hell of a lot more fun to be friends with than most of these alphas. Fact of the matter is: true, actual alphas (in the primal sense) like Stringer Bell would make awful friends.

I think a 'lesser alpha' like Schwarzenegger is far more inspiring than wanting to be like some of these guys.

Anyway, much of the 'alpha' v 'beta' stuff is played out now and ridiculous.

If Tony Soprano disliked cold showers...beta? If Arnold bought girls drinks if he liked them...beta? If Hugo Schwyzer ditched deodorant for baking soda...ALPHA???!

I suspect that show would be full of alpha characters. Also it looks fucking awesome.
