RE: My biz has no website or google search placement
I'll be back at this tomorrow. It's starting to come together and I even got my city and auto repair locked down on facebook. I guess nobody else thought of it and I sent invites to my competition which have not responded to yet.

I never believed in advertising because I think it shows weakness in my trade. If you're good and fair that's all it ever took but I'm understanding if nobody I don't know ever calls me i'm losing out.

Hostgator is who I use for hosting. Like them way more than BlueHost.

Yelp is good, like mentioned above. Doing a search in your area, it appears that YellowPages.com, YellowBook.com, SuperPages.com, Edmunds.com, and CitySearch.com are the main directory listings. They all show up on the first page. I would get pages made on each of these sites. If you have a secretary, you could get her to do this in her spare time.

I admit it would help if Neil was here

I guess that was a compliment but i don't think i'm of much help compared to some whizzkids here.

The way i work is just relentless struggling and putting in an insane amount of hours of finding things out on my own.
For any problem i use google. I just type in my problem in the search and hit enter. Lots of times good answers come up.

One good tip would be to use youtube. There are tons of How to instructional vids on there made by either companies or helpfull nerds.

Sometimes i try to figure stuff out for hours while there's a nerd explaining and showing it button for button on youtube.

It helped me a lot with editing and formatting my book and also for some things i did with photoshop. A few weeks ago i tried something for two days. I used youtube and figured it out exactly and now i do it in minutes.

6. scrapebox
7. senuke

$35 and you have your seo covered. Don't waste money paying an "seo guy." Doing those 7 things to a new site may get you google "sandboxed" but it sounds like your fine with or without a site that ranks. So hit it hard like it's a big Dominican ass. Maybe pay people on fiverr to post yelp reviews for you also.

If you need a banner... http://5dollarbanners.com/

If you don't know any of what I said above, just have one of the IM guys on here help you out a bit.

Don't do this. That used to work, the latest google update blacklisted and penalised people who have done this in the past. It'll be the death of your site. Go to Blackhatworld, Warrior Forum etc and you'll see so many people have been screwed over by google because of this.

Don't know the Penguin update, but do know google has a hard time penalizing sites for things such as what I mentioned because if they did penalize the site then people would do it to their competitors. Therefore google just figures out an algo change that minimizes that stuff instead of penalizes it.

People ARE doing it to their competitors, negative SEO is being used to destroy the competition. People are going on fiverr and buying all the gigs you mentioned and giving them their competitors website address. It has the desired effect and the competitor drops in the rankings. It's fucked up.

Quick write up: http://searchenginewatch.com/article/217...d-Websites

I was in the same camp as you, that negative SEO can't happen. However, check out what happened to Dan Thies. Matt Cutts has said himself that negative SEO can happen, but that it is difficult to accomplish. Then again, who knows what that means as Matt Cutts never gives it straight.

Ok, don't want to derail the thread anymore. PM me if you have any questions about Penguin.

Rio is spot on.

If the recent thread on here is anything to go by bad reviews can be removed if a company partners up with Yelp and fake good reviews are easily added! Doesn't mean a biz owner can't get some customers from (faked if need be) good reviews though. I think it definitely wouldn't do any harm for a biz to have some decent reviews up there.

I'm trying to figure out if it worth it investing an additional 47 dollars on it.

No, not worth it for you if all you're going to do is point the links at your website. If you're going to build links to anything, build them to webpages that you have on higher ranked websites, ex. Youtube videos.

I could slice up a data sheet on this depending on how big the demand for this is.

There's a lot of knowledge on RVF, but it's in it's best form when it's consolidated.

Go to the source for SEO info. Check out TrafficPlanet.com. Good forum on SEO. There is a lot of false info on SEO out there on the internet, even right here at RVF.

SEO is a waste of time for newbies to internet marketing. Actually, it's pretty much a waste of time for most veterans too (even veterans right here on RVF)... as evidenced by people who know SEO and yet only have $1,000 in their bank account. Smile

It is if you tell them to blast 20000 xrumer links to a new domain, and then tell them not to link to their own website instead of youtube.

It's blatantly not a waste of time when done right. Spending money on dodgy backlinks and other shit on fiverr however clearly is a bad idea. I'm not an expert by any means but I can see how valuable good SEO is if your site is to go the distance. No point in having a website if no one can find it.

RE: My biz has no website or google search placement
Kitsune, you should reread my 1st post perhaps. I prefaced the risk of doing what I suggested. You act like I didn't know that or didn't mention it to Emech. I was just giving him other options because I saw someone say he should pay a guy to do SEO. He then asked a question and I gave him better and more specific options that would be better for him. Also, fiverr links and that stuff still work when pointed to youtube videos and other high ranking sites.

Alpha, I agree, SEO POTENTIALLY isn't a waste of time when done right, but newbies don't know how to do it right and it will take forever to rank on keywords that actually matter. The fact that Google keeps pushing down search engine results in favor of paid results and throw in more and more people using cell phones to do searches and SEO's value is not what it used to be. For me personally, I won't constantly jump through google's constantly changing hoops.

Yeah, that's true, I'm broke. Having a bad work ethic and only one main website will do that, especially after commissions get slashed from 20% to 10% and Google releases a string of algorithm changes. I fucked up, no doubt.

But I'm honest and people on this site have actually seen how I make my money. How is it that you make over $500,000 a year? Product creation? Why don't you drop some knowledge on us? I know zero about product creation, and if you honestly make that much money doing it, why don't you drop a data sheet for us? Everyone here would love to see it. Or at least a link to a couple of your products.

FightStyle.net is/was my main site. Hopefully I can cash out 3-6k for it since it has still received over 27,000 unique visitors and 50,000 page views this year. That is worth decent money to a MMA retailer.

Did you try and build your website back up in the rankings Rio? I know a lot of folk on BHW and Warrior forum who were hit by google panda / penguin but managed to recover by doing their best to remove any damaging links and doing some white hat SEO.

Penguin update was in part to do with overly-optimised backlinks.

You can readdress the balance by posting backlinks with untargeted anchor text.

I have 4 and soon to be 5 different profit funnels online. I showed Roosh 1 of them and I'm sure he got the impression I made plenty of money from it.

I'd love to brag and get back pats on this forum from talking about what I'm doing online, but as far as how much I make, how I specifically do it currently, websites, etc... my family doesn't even know that so there's no chance I'd tell people who I don't know online. I'm fine if people don't believe I make a lot of money. I used to try and prove myself on the way up the ladder, now that I'm at the "top" I have nothing to prove. I've learned my lesson from previous times when I opened up my mouth about what I do... plenty of people ripping me off and copying me. I've also learned that I may be high up on the totem pole now, but it might not last. I've been humbled before.

I've been where you are. In 2007 I had 1 website/product and I was making $10-15,000 a month doing ppc for it. Then google did their first slap and I went down to like $200 a month and that happened the same month my 1st son was born.

After the shock wore off and living off my savings, in 2008 I hit article marketing hard. Became one of the top article marketers in the world... knew pretty much everything on how to rank articles and wrote well over 1,000 in 8 months. Shot back up to making $6-7,000 a month from 1 website/product (same product as the one I made money with ppc). Then in 2011 google hit article directories hard. Went down to $1,000 a month.

During early 2009 I racked up over 100,000 twitter followers and was the highest followed non-famous person. Created a product and made a lot of money on that, but then it died within 2 months b/c twitter changed their rules.

What's great about IM is you can always get right back up and make a lot of money. Just need focus and to not allow places like the warrior forum to distract you with the next, new shiny IM tactic/strategy.

Just master 1 thing/tactic/strategy. Dominate it... just like I did with article marketing and twitter. Once you master that and consistently make good money from it, branch out and find another profit funnel (could be for same product or a different product in a different niche). Master 1, but quickly get to 2 and dig deep to master the 2nd one. Etc. 1 is a lonely # in business.

Just to be clear, my dig at you was only a reply to your subtle dig at me. We both have better things to do with our time than argue online. We seem to have similar interests. I'll be out in Phuket in 2013 to train muay thai. Good luck to you. Your $1,000 in the bank situation is only temporary. Focus and get to work.

Don't want this thread to be about me or arguing SEO when I'm more interested in hearing from Emech and how he's doing with yelp. If you want to talk more about this you can pm me, but again, I won't tell you specifics about what I'm currently doing. Would have no problem trying to think up ways to help you out of your rut though.

Quoted for truth. I made $750 my very first month with my site, and it was only my 2nd website ever.

My problem has always been follow through, and not feeling the NEED to make good money. I always knew money does not buy happiness, but now at 27 I realize that a solid income stream is definitely a big factor. My main hobbies/passions in life are travel, foreign chicks, and Jiu Jitsu. These three things go together amazingly well...if you can afford them lol.

I'm actually getting into e-commerce now. Niche markets with good profit margins. Something I know can make me a good living for years to come, and not be as volatile as affiliate marketing.

Big Nilla, have you ever checked out Frank Kerns Mass Control 2.0? It is about online product creation and marketing. I recently watched a little bit of it, and it seems good, but I don't know much about product creation so I can't be sure.

Yeah, we IM'ers are a complacent, undisciplined, unfocused, lazy bunch, generally speaking. Tough being your own boss. I'm all of the above except lazy. If I were disciplined enough to work 40 hours a week for the past 7 years (like "normal" people in normal jobs) on IM stuff I have no doubt I'd have a $5+ million net worth now. I'm so not motivated by making a lot of money that I have to tell a business partner that I'll give him $100-200 if I don't finish something by a certain time. The possibility of losing that $100-200 motivates me way more and gets me moving. Screwed up thinking, but works for me.

If I were you, I'd go to Brazil and start networking with people and somehow create some BJJ dvd's with semi-famous guys. MMA is hot. Get into it deep and don't stop for anything. Focus on that and nothing else... creating dvd's and instructional manuals and leveraging guys who are up-and-comers in BJJ. Eat, drink, and sleep it for 2-3 years and by the time you're 30 you'll be set as the go-to guy for BJJ as MMA becomes more and more mainstream. Then at that point you open yourself up to more opportunities and money. Just keep moving and doing and things will take care of themselves. Don't worry about saturation of the market. That's a good thing. Means there's money there. How bad do you want it? It's there for the taking... and it's your passion. There are dozens of different niched down products you could create for BJJ. Can do the same for Muay Thai while you're in Thailand.

Here's an idea off the top of my head... set yourself up as a sort of middleman to get Americans/westerners into Muay Thai or BJJ gyms. You set up a relationship with a few gyms where you're at and use your IM skills to get people to book through you and you take a commission. Have 2-3 different angles... 1. for hardcore MMA types 2. for girls 3. for fat loss ... then you work your marketing angles as a beach vacation with fat loss, girl power, etc. Then you act like Emech's taxi driver and hook these people up while they're there. Take care of all the pesky little details they don't want to deal with. I personally wouldn't recommend it since other things have great profit potential, but it's something that you can now. I plan to go to Phuket for muay thai in 2013... I could use my own "taxi driver" who makes things smooth and easy. Just an idea.

(NOTE: Emech, if you're reading this, you should buildup and organize a stable of trusted "taxi driver facilitators" all across DR for us gringos and make it a sort of business. Can also make special arrangements with people with rooms/apartments on airbnb for your "clients.") Have fun, make money, and be the man in DR.

Back to dvd's... I have a friend who is part of a group that has exclusive rights to Jon Jones exercises-related endorsements for like 6 months. Basically anything he endorses will make money.

I know Frank Kern's stuff. You don't need it. I'm friends with Ryan Deiss and Perry Belcher, basically live right across the street from their offices and been to 3 of their seminars. All the cool things and "tricks" I learn from them... I don't implement any of it because it makes me unfocused and jumping around trying to do a little bit of everything. I just hit what I'm doing hard and continue pounding away at it because it's working.

I used to go to the warrior forum. It's great for opening up your eyes to different things, but once I stopped trying to keep up with all the hot new things and just focused on my own things, that's when I started making real money.
