On my way home from work, a girl approached me on the metro to ask for directions to a bar, where she was meeting someone for a first date. In summary, I rambled and joked with her, ran GALNUC when she took some of my bait, and got her number. What is a good text opener for this kind of situation? I think mentioning the date she went on would be funny, but saying anything along the lines of "did you enjoy your date with that other guy?" sounds really terrible. Would it better to stay with the standard "hey xxx its me. what's up?" text?

I was thinking: "hey xxx its me. I think you owe me a drink for my GPS services on the train"

Yes? No?

Don't text. Call her. Don't mention the date. Call her up and tell her you're going out and tell her to meet you for a drink.

I was at a bar once with a friend of mine and this fucking hot blonde comes up to me, solid 8, and gets in my face and asks, "Ryan?"

I responded, "No...but I could be."

She was on a blind date. I said, "Tell you what, if Ryan doesn't show up in the next 5 minutes, we default and get out of here." She laughed and agreed. Well, sure enough, Ryan showed up and that was that.

What my response should have been, "Yeah! Hey....you. Hey, this bartender is giving me a bad vibe, let's get out of here and go down the street to my favorite bar..."

If he calls she most likely won't pick up. A lot of girls <25 are "awkward" with phone calls, particularly from "randoms" so it'll be "creepy" to her.

He needs to warm her up first. A low-investment initial text that'll bait her into a response is the best way to go.

I'd keep it short and sweet. Don't mention the other guy, or what she was going to do.And save the game for the date. So simply the standard.

I think that alternate response would have been rather douchey. Taking advantage of the situation is fine, but why fuck over a guy you don't know anything about? You don't always have to win, I say.

Everything comes and goes in cycles. I think it's time to get back on the phone call. Txting now puts you in the category of every other guy. The phone call will likely go unanswered but, when you leave a message following the same text rules and your voice makes her feel comfortable, she WILL call you back. I have been doing this lately with a lot of success.

When I meet a girl, I always call her, never text.

Girls do pick up, and girls do call back.

I think I have said it on here before, use texting after you have already swooped her, or for logistical information only.

I have found that if you do the opposite in life of "regular guy", you are almost always doing the right thing.

I would hardly say that move is fucking over a guy I don't know anything about. It was a blind first date. It's not like I would have ruined a marriage or anything.

There's plenty of talk in these forums about swooping women who are already taken. I would have zero remorse in swooping one that was single who happened to be in the right place at the right time with the wrong guy.

I mean when you call, the message you leave (since she probably won't answer) should follow the same rules as your initial text game. For example keep it simple and short "Hey this is Slubu, how are you? Give me a shout back" (in a pleasant tone of course). Or at least until you get comfortable leaving a message. The longer you speak, the more likely you'll say something that might be weird.
