Can text messages be disguised or hidden on a NON Jailbroken iphone? So that if someone were to get a hold of it, they wouldn't be able to discern the text messages?

They can't be encrypted or password protected AFAIK, however you can require a pass code to unlock your phone (which I'm sure you know), so that the prying fingers of your lizards can't scroll through your texts.

Go to general, passcode lock - turn passcode on and set code accordingly.

My player friend had messages pop right on the screen as soon as he got them. He got burned on this several times from his wife.

There is an option to hide the message so you only receive the notification but the message doesn't come up on the screen.


A better option would be to download Google Voice for your iphone so you can have a separate phone number and the text messages will go on the app. So when you signout of google voice the messages will stay inside the app and all of your call history.

I did this for one of my friends and his wife hasn't caught him with having a gf on the side for more than 1.5 years.

How can it be? Everyone has one. It's the Ford Focus of phones.

If there is anything such as DHV for phones it would be from a premium model like the HTC one X (powerhouse) or Sony Ericsson X10 mini (world's smallest smartphone).

Use Google Voice. Give out your GV number to girls. They can call and text to it and it is saved in
the GV app not in your regular Iphone text messages.

Of course you can't hide the GV app but you can make a folder with 10 other apps in it and drop it in there.
Make it out of sight at least.

Disable text pop-ups when your phone is locked too.
