After looking at this picture all day I've come to the conclusion that the kid wants nothing to do with the photo shoot. Notice how the only contact the kid has with his mother is his mouth on her nipple. You'd figure that with the way she is pulling him in, his right arm would naturally go to her side. Instead, it's sandwiched between he and his mother, as if it's acting like a barrier between them.

Azulsombra, I believe you are onto something. I bet this happens between mothers and sons far more often than mothers and daughters.

Maybe he'll grow up to be a natural master of game. Or maybe he'll grow up to have serious issues with women.

I wonder what happened to teaching your kids about boundaries?

This isn't about the kid, it's about the mother, and her journey to create the ideal man who will love her unconditionally (or some shit like that.)

This shot from the same photoshoot is more conventional. It also completely emphasizes him in front while hiding her in back. It's hard to show body maintenance when you're squatting on a stool with a 4 year old wrapped around your waist.

He looks like a milk-drunk boy falling asleep from a full tummy.

Personally, I'd take her. I would rather share my wife's titties with my 4 year old son/daughter than wonder about who she is sharing her titties with at the club when she gets drunk during "girls' night out".

While the extended breastfeeding is kind of twisted, I have more respect for these women that the chicks who have some surrogate carry their baby because they don't want to ruin their figure, or the chick who refuses to breastfeed her children at all because it is uncomfortable.

I would just take on my role as father/husband/man of the house to establish some boundaries of appropriate behavior. I don't want my son to be 13 years old, popping out his mom's titty when comes home from school and sucking on it like it is some kind of juice box.

Women can actually lactate indefinitely. As long as the milk is being removed from the breast, the body will continue to make it. Since most women stop breastfeeding at some point, the body stops making it when its no longer being drawn.

She was on "The Today Show" this morning, along with the kid, Bill Sears and some science writer. The kid was wedged under her, wouldn't keep quiet and was fidgeting. She said she knew what she was getting into, and that the cover photo wasn't how they actually nurse (not that that was the issue people had with her). She said she hopes that his fourth year would be the end of nursing, and that he's starting to self-wean already. Sears' defense of the parenting method was that no child that was parented this way has ever been a bully in school. Okay. That's a positive outcome, but that alone doesn't sell this. Bottom line, this is time intensive. It's constant attention - the kid is the center of the universe, with each and every want and need being attended to. While this may produce brighter kids, how well adjusted are they?

Above a certain body weight mother's milk can only be supplemental to a child's diet. But there is an additional advantage: Mothers lose 650 calories a day by breastfeeding.

That's equivalent to doing aerobics for two hours. Or bicycling for two hours. Or chopping wood with a hand axe for an entire hour.

Part of the reason for her figure is she breastfed two children. That's a lot of calories she's lactated off her figure.
