You should go for something that smells "citrus" or "fresh" or "fruit-ish" candy that's to much.. Cologne really shouldn't mimic female sent.

I've had great success with Ralph Lauren Romance, its light and got a citrus smell to it, its perfect for summer.

In fall I go more dark and woody with Givenchy (sp?) PI.

I get the oils though of ebay. Buying the waterdown'd stuff in stores is a rip-off. A oil bottle can last you years and costs 15-20 bucks. I've had my 'Romance' bottle for 5 years now.

Colognes are a hobby of mine-I enjoy studying them, trying out different varieties, and collecting them.

Aren't Good and Plentys sort of a licorice flavor? Try Fuel for Life by Diesel- it has notes of raspberry and licorice. I own it and women like it.

The fragrance at the link posted by Astro is one that all players should seriously consider owning. I get crazy compliments from women on it. Thanks to Astro for NOT naming it- we should keep it quiet- I would hate to see every PUA and frat douche wearing it and turning it into another LeMale (very good but very common). Hopefully, given that it is expensive and not available at typical department stores that won't happen.

Basenotes.net is a great source of info on colognes but here is a caveat- there are factions on the site that prefer colognes that are out-dated, weird or just rank. They have steered a lot of beginners wrong. There are members like us on the site-identify the guys who share your taste-you are much more likely to agree with their recommendations. also check out the thread stickied at the top on female compliments-lots of good leads there.

I really ought to do a data sheet on colognes.....

I agree - having a few great smelling colognes in your arsenal is essential.
I have about 40 bottles - bit i love my fragrances so its a bit over the top.

Depending on your age group, i think women prefer a more sweeter smelling cologne on a man. But not overly sweet as some women`s frags can be.

Go to a fragrance spot or high end department store and sample sents. There have been good brands tossed around withen the post but its important to get a sniff b4 you buy. Get a list and check them out at the store then purchase your favorite in oil form.

Also a lot of the online scent shops will send you samples for a small fee. Otherwise just go to the department store to try and find the scent you're looking for online for a better price.

Armani Mania makes chics go crazy....I like to put a few different on at the same time. One spray of something on the neck. One spray of something different on the wrist. Than ask a girl to smell me and tell me which she likes better. Than you can tell them how animals smell each other in the wild before they mate.

Do y'all feel that cologne is actually important?

I'm allergic to colognes and perfume, can't even wear deodorant that's loaded with fragrances. Makes my eyes tear and throat clench up. Hah

Cologne is pretty important. I noticed that I do better when I wear it over just using deodorant. Also I'm a big fan of Pinaud Clubman. It's super cheap, which is great for my broke ass. And it smells really manly.

You can get it online for about $20.
It has a strong vanilla scent, but it also has a manly smell to it.
