Equal pay
hey guys what's the big deal with equal pay between the sexes? i get that feminism and all that shit sucks mad dick. but this one seems to escape me. it seems like a rational and humane thing to do. they work, they get paid. no way around it.

i'd like to see the point of view of people who don't like or agree with it, though.

"Alpha children wear grey. They work much harder than we do, because they're so frightfully clever. I'm awfully glad I'm a Beta, because I don't work so hard. And then we are much better than the Gammas and Deltas. Gammas are stupid. They all wear green, and Delta children wear khaki. Oh no, I don't want to play with Delta children. And Epsilons are still worse. They're too stupid to be able to read or write. Besides they wear black, which is such a beastly color. I'm so glad I'm a Beta."

RE: equal pay
Once you account for number of hours worked, occupation, level of education, and time taken off for things like maternity leave, most of the pay gap goes away. About 5% of it may actually be due to discrimination (and I would support eliminating this part of it), but if you control for all the confounding factors it's nowhere near as large as the oft-quoted "77 cents on the dollar" figure would lead you to believe.

Why don't they come work in my field? Equal pay..no problem because we work on flat rate. Go pull the trans out of that ford F-250 4wd it pays 4 hours....Please! I've never seen it in this trade. About 20 years ago I had to take an ASE test to handle/buy freon. I had two girls sitting next to me taking ALL of the ASE tests at once. They were both done in 5 minutes. They failed. lol

What do you guys think of a subforum:

Culture & Women - discussion of gender issues, American women, effects of feminist/liberal policies, current events, censorship, etc.

If you do that you'll attract a different crowd, and it'll change the character f the forum, I think. So I'd say no. Just my opinion.

If you can find and prove a woman getting paid less than a man (based on sex) you can sue for a lot of money. If women did actually get paid less then it you would actually hear of cases involving that. I'm in a feminism class right now and the only examples they have are from the 70's.

i think my question is getting misunderstood. i'm asking how do you guys FEEL about equal pay? i've seen some people from the manosphere (mostly roissy) being against equal pay. i'm wondering why.

RE: equal pay
oogabear I have no problem with women getting equal pay.

My definition of equal pay:
- man works job a with qualifications b and gets wage c
- woman works job a with qualifications b and gets wage c
- on paper the only thing that they differ in is sex.
NOT
- man works job a with qualifications b and gets wage c
- woman works job a with no qualifications for the same wage. ie. hiring to maintain a certain number of women in the work force. the woman is less qualified to work the job. the more qualified man gets fucked.

In short. No one has any right to complain if a better candidate is hired for a job. They should complain if there is preferential hiring based on non-job related stuff. ie. hiring a woman simply because shes a woman and corporate headquarters requires 50% female workers.

A lot of feminists use data pulled from over-all wages. Of course there are going to be more male CEOs making lots of cash. They were getting experience while the women either weren't born yet or were still in school or were protesting. The men had the opportunities that women didn't have back in the day and there is no reason why the older dudes should be punished for that.

Mildly against. Your site is about game. Adding more off-topic forums dilutes the focus away from what it's best at. And there's not really enough traffic for another forum in just this topic currently. I also admit I mostly come here to see what's new posted in the humor thread, and then see the other topics that burble up. (the emphasis on feelings is another tip off this is a troll about to be banned) I have no problem with equal pay for truly equal work. What everyone has a problem with is equal pay for unequal work. Carrying slack-offs sucks.

Go watch the show "Tanked" on hulu: It's a family business where one of the two partners married the sister of the other partner.

She's a terrible wife. She's an annoying relative. And all she does is piss people off every time she opens her stupid mouth to whine. Oh, and she plans parties at work.

Should she be paid the same as the people actually doing what generates money to cover payroll? Hell no. She answers the phone. She never sweats, gets dirty, lifts anything, or uses a power tool. Simply put, she is unskilled.

RE: equal pay
The WSL has now decided that men and women surfers would receive the same prize money.

http://www.worldsurfleague.com/posts/345...w-calendar

Quote:CEO Sophie Goldschmidt announced equal pay for men and women across all WSL controlled events, something that six-time World Champ Stephanie Gilmore described as, "Incredible, and I am thrilled. The prize money is fantastic, but the message means even more."

"From the moment current ownership became involved, the situation for the women surfers has been transformed for the better in every way," continued Gilmore. "We have been so appreciative, but this takes it to another level. I hope this serves as a model for other sports, global organizations and society as a whole. My fellow women athletes and I are honored and inspired to reward this decision with even higher levels of surfing."

Eleven-time world champion Kelly Slater said, "The women on the Tour deserve this change. I'm so proud that surfing is choosing to lead sports in equality and fairness. The female WSL athletes are equally committed to their craft as the male athletes and should be paid the same. Surfing has always been a pioneering sport, and this serves as an example of that."

"Being a father myself, trying to raise two strong, independent girls, to be able to send them out into the world knowing that they'll be on equal footing and that surfing is a legitimate career path for them is really exciting," added WSL Surfer's Rep Buchan.

It truly baffles me that a legend such as Kelly Slater would go along with this. This man has won the championship 11 (!!) times and knows better than anyone how much work and dedication it takes to be at the top and earn the prize. I just don't get it.

That doesn't surprise me at all. Some say surfers are "laid back" but another way of expressing that trait is that they don't give a fuck about anything but surfing, and so will always choose the path of least resistance. Standing up for anything is just like, too haaard maaaan.

Every "woman's right" is a scam to bring the simple working man to the level of bitches and be unable to have his say against the elites.

Right for women to vote - a scam to ensure democratic elections mean shit.

Right for women to work - a scam to reduce median wages from values that allow a single individual to support a family to wages that require two individuals to support a family (and double the amount of worker drones). Oh and to send most of children to government's daycare brainwashing institutes.

Right for women to education - 1) a population control scam 2)a scam to make simple secondary school or even the lesser degrees like bachelor's look useless and require everyone to go for graduate degrees or doctorate's and make universities bloat with demand and funding. Makes a simple but honest hardworking man from trade school look like a brute who must have no say in politics and cultural shifts.

RE: Equal pay
Equal pay is not the same as the so-called gender pay gap.

Equal pay occurred when the CEOs successfully depressed men’s pay to women’s levels decades ago. Mass immigration helped achieve this by ballooning the reserve labour pool. Governments wanted women’s labour taxed so to increase the collateral they could borrow off.

The gender pay gap has more to do with the widening gap between CEO and entry level salaries - brought about partly by depressing men’s wages to equality levels. This is great for shareholders as they get more work out of married men and the upward pressure on wages is tempered by half the workforce having access to a bonus from their husbands and perhaps financial and real estate alimony too.

Within a work force, married women on equal pay are richer than their male peers. They typically marry up and have a ‘go to Hell fund’ in the form of their husbands’ surplus. Their married male peers are subsidising or completely supporting a wife, which means they need to climb the corporate ladders and without a ‘go to hell fund’, they are more vulnerable to falling into disfavour by bosses. So they will work harder and longer as a matter of survival for their marriage and families.

The most discriminated group is entry level men in the interview room and in the dating and mating market.

Sport feminises men, and masculinises women.
-Nassim Taleb

Never, never mistake a man's sporting prowess for general competence at life or red pill. The ancient Greeks regularly pissed on the Olympics and similar sports as distracting men from proper pursuits such as thought or war.

That aside, Slater has pretty much all the expected back history for him to be pissing blue pill.

Mother uses her maiden name (Judy Moriarty), so there's high odds of a divorce or a passionless for-convenience marriage. She was a EMT responder ... aaaaaannd a firefighter, apparently. Odds are on he got assfucked with the "Women iz strong ppl" thing from an early age (five bucks says he never watched her at work and watched the other men pull her weight as well as theirs.)

What's his view on marriage, per his own IMDB quotations?

Maintaining marriage seems to be tougher than fatherhood: apparently it's the most difficult thing in the world.

I've got a working theory that the sort of person who calls marriage a difficult thing hasn't married the right person, doesn't trust the person they've married, is too shit-scared of it having seen one or both of his parents fucked over in the divorce, or (very rarely) likes strange too much too commit. It's the male version of Scarlett Johansen's rationalisation for all of her failed relationships being because humans aren't monogamous. If you're really as laid-back as the surfer image suggests, you shouldn't be having any problems with marriage, you'll pass shit tests with ease if you ride the wave just right because you'll present just the right DILLIGAF pose that works.

Maintaining marriage isn't harder than being a father, jackass. You only think that because your Dad working his ass off in a bait-and-tackle shop he owned didn't have time to keep an eye on your firefighter mother who would've been surrounded by ripped, flatheaded men for most of the time in her job.

He doesn't know his daughter. She was born to an ex-girlfriend of his.

https://www.theinertia.com/surf/kelly-sl...ng-hawaii/

Quote:“The whole time my daughter has been raised by her mother almost 100 percent in physical time and I’ve been traveling,” Slater told Bensinger. “The hardest part, I think for me, is my daughter feeling like she doesn’t have a dad there all the time. And that’s hard for her. I know it was especially hard for her when she was younger.”

That'll pay him back eventually. Like a lot of abandoned daughters, she went down the artist path, although her tastes seem to run more Bindi Irwin than leftie period-blood-on-a-canvas. Still, she's only 22. Plenty of time for the daddy issues to surface, and given some of her photographs of women there's a hypergamous little creature hiding away in there.

Remissas, discite, vivet.

RE: Equal pay
Women get paid the same as men for equal work. Subject to market forces, people should get paid for what they do. If you want teo reasons why men should get paid more for what is otherwise the same work, there are two that come to mind. One is that women as a group tend to cost employers more due to time off, and complications regarding holding their position during mat leave (depending on the law in your jurisdiction) plus the more recent nonsense about #metoo.

The second reason is that men end up - or at least are expected to - pay for women. On the micro-level that is changing somewhat as women are more open to splitting expenses or going dutch on a date. Still, women largely remain committed to the idea of dating and marrying a guy who makes more than them, say by 20%. Until that attitude changes (fat chance) society just gets fucked up if women are actually earning the same as men.

On the macro-level, women soak up more social services than men. They even want free birth control, free abortions and tax breaks on their hygiene products.

Not that these are good reasons, but certainly better than the fruitloop idea of a "man tax" because more crime is committed by men. Men aren't trying to socialize those expenses and insure themselves against the financial and other consequences of their decisions.

Right. I forget who said it, but I always liked the quotation:

"If women really earn only 77 cents on the male dollar, why doesn't some enterprising person start a company, hire only women, and drive the competition out of business?"

It's all in this book, but Farrell's basic conclusion is that the gap comes down to women's choices (preferring cushy/safe/indoor jobs, choosing jobs that offer more flexibility to be with children, preferring arts over sciences, etc.).
