Good recommendations, all these movies are solid. I'm into Korean ones these days, they seem to make the best thriller/dramas.

Check out 'Memories Of Murder,' based on true events, great movie.
Also, 'The Chaser,' about a cop/pimp and his murdered hookers.

Russia:

Tycoon - it's a bit like the Godfather but set in the 90's and based around Russia's new found capitalism.

Brother - Another crime film that focuses on the collapse of the USSR and the problematic era that follwed, it's kind of dated. I still enjoyed it though.

Been watching a Russian series called Brigada about a group of friends who rise through the Moscow underworld in the 90s. It's good stuff, shame about the subtitles being very poor. You can find many of the full episodes on youtube:

Human Traffic - British movie. Weak movie about a young group of friends and the club/drug scene that they love going to on the weekends to escape their boring jobs. One of the guys has an erection problem yet ends up with the girl he has a crush on. Awww! 2 thumbs down.

Dead Snow is actually a Norwegian film. I said it was German on page 3.

Sin Nombre - Mexican film. This one is pretty cool. A ms-13 member kills a fellow gang member and is on a train headed to the US to try and escape other members looking for him. Highly recommended.

Sugarhouse - British movie. A middle class man tries to buy a gun from a crackhead. Crackhead stole it from his dealer and he's on the hunt for him now. It was alright. Catch if it's on TV but don't go looking for this one.

Ultimate Heist - French movie. This is one about a French family full of gangsters. The son of the boss man wants to get out but his father comes up with a plan for an ultimate heist. I expected more action in this one. Some nice shots and views of France, but it wasn't to good.

Doghouse - British film. Group of guys go to a secluded village to help a buddy get over his divorce. They find out that all of the women are man haters and man eating zombies though. This one is a British horror comedy. I enjoyed it a lot...real entertaining and funny!

The Chaser - South Korean movie. A detective turned pimp (lmao!) loses some hoes who haven't payed him his money. He tries to track them down and discovers that they all went to the same guy last. Now he's looking for the guy who's playing with his money. This is a bad ass flick!

Weirdsville - Canadian.

I didn't really know how to explain this one. Wasn't feeling it though. Check it out if you like goofy, black comedy movies.

Shadow - English language movie that was filmed in Italy. An Iraq war veteran is going on an European biking trip through mountains, but crosses paths with 2 Australian(?) rednecks who try to kill him. He avoids death with them, but ends up in a creepy butcher's dungeon. Not to bad. The butcher scared the shit out of me...ugly ass muthafucka!

Rampage - Canadian movie that is set in Oregon. A young guy sick of everything and everyone goes on a killing spree. I liked it! It was like a real life version of Grand Theft Auto.

The Vanished Empire - Russian film. This movie is set in Moscow sometime in the 70's. It revolves around a young man, his friend and a girl they both like. It sounds lame, but it's pretty good. I recommend it.

I swear I saw that movie over 20 years ago. Its good enough to watch twice,IIRC. Am gonna go look for it-thanks! Very good film about the secret police and surveillance in GDR. Won an academy award, the performance of the protagonist is just unreal.

Feed - Australian movie. An Australian cop is investigating a website that has obese cows being held captive and fed huge amounts of food on camera for payed viewers. He suspects the women are being killed and travels to Ohio where the site is being streamed from. He's trying to find the owner of the site before the next fatty is killed and replaced. Worth watching because this is literally "death to fatties".

The Devil's Double - I don't think this is actually a foreign movie, but it's about the guy who was forced to be Saddam Hussein's son's double. It was pretty cool and shows some of the crazy shit his son did. It could of been more violent and graphic though.

A Prophet - French film. A young Arab criminal is trying to do his prison time in peace but is forced to kill a Muslim snitch by a gang. He slowly rises up in the prison world after this. This is a good movie! It's almost 3 hours but it keeps you entertained the whole time. Plenty of action and drama in it. Thanks for everyone that recommended it.

Troll Hunter - Norwegian movie. College students are investigating a hunter after bears start mysteriously dying in large numbers. They find out trolls are are killing them and the hunter is actually going after them. It sounds stupid but it's surprisingly good. Some beautiful shots of Norway throughout the film.


Mademoiselle Chambon - French movie. A married man starts falling for his son's teacher after picking up his kid from school one day. It gets in the way of his family life and work. I don't know why I even watched this chick flick. I think because it was in French. I guess check it out if you want to see a French movie set in a small town. I can appreciate all kinds of movies but this shit was sloooooow.


TIP - Libraries carry all kinds of foreign films and they're free to check out. Nobody even really gets them because why would the average American be interested in reading those subtitles? To bad the library doesn't have all The Pusher trilogy movies they only carry the 2nd and 3rd parts.

I had Netflix on my ps3 but cancelled it when I found out about libraries carrying foreign films. I'll probably start it up again when I run through all the libraries in my area. I have no idea about Amazon but streaming Netflix has a good selection, is cheap and real convenient,

Not very realistic, but a good film nonetheless. Norwegian thriller about an art thief who steals from the wrong guy. Strong suspense throughout.

Children of Men - British film. This movie was filmed by a Mexican director, but shot in England. It's 2027 and humans aren't able to have babies anymore. A woman ends up pregnant and our hero has to help get her to a safe area so humans have a future. I really like this movie and snatched it up on Blu Ray (real good visuals and action in this one).

Paris - French film. This one follows a handful of average characters that all reside in Paris over the course of a few months. It stretches out and starts dragging towards the end, but it's cool to see the city outside of tourist areas. Recommended if you're curious about Paris or France.

Eastern Promises - British movie. A midwife in London is thrown into the world of the Russian Mafia. Decent flick and is worth checking out if you have an interest in Russian criminal life. Apparently, they went to Russia and researched the hell out of everything to make sure the movie would be accurate.

Norwegian Ninja - Horrible Norwegian film about a ninja group that helped save Norway during the Cold War.

The Raid - Indonesian movie. This is a cool martial arts, violent, action movie about a SWAT team attempting to take over an apartment building run by gangsters. I expected more after hearing everyone talk about it, but it's not bad at all. Nonstop action and killing.

The Heir Apparent: Largo Winch - French film. A billionaire is killed and his adopted son has to take care of the killers before they take over the empire. This was shot around the world but mostly in Hong Kong. Other than the good scenery, I didn't really like the movie. I figured it was going to be a James Bond type of movie but there's only a few scenes like that. Decent flick but read up on it before blindly buying it.

13 Assassins - Japanese movie. A group of 13 samurai are grouped together to take down an evil lord in this suicide mission. This has some great acting on top of brutal, violent action. 2 thumbs up.
