Harry is done
I just returned from a trip to Turkmenistan (will get report up within the next two weeks, place is still fucked) and Vladivostok, but also had a short stop over in Seoul. I felt it the moment I landed in Sydney, but for the life of me I cant do this anymore. After all these years, I have finally decided that its time to throw in the towel.

Nothing special happened while I was away, it was just another business trip with me making time to chase a bit of ass. I never landed more tail than I normally do, in fact it was a little slow. None of the places I went to were places I felt like moving too nor were they special enough that I need to go back there specifically.

Its not the travel I am going to give up, its the coming home part. Its finally dawned on me that I am wasting my time in Australia, and by extension, western countries as a whole. There is little difference. They have little to offer me outside business and family. Both of which can be conducted and visited with frequent trips instead of actually living here.

I get taxed to fuck as it is, so financially its making more sense to move on. Im tired of plowing money into a system that takes guys like me for granted. The left wing socialists who love to spend everyone elses money on entitlement programs and welfare for oxygen thieves can spend someone elses cash now, Im tapping out. Fuck them all, enough is enough, they are not entitled to what I have done and will do in the future.

I would like to have a family one day, but I cant do it here in Australia. Its too high risk and the crazy thing is that the more you have the harder it is to marry with the laws the way they are. I dont see why I should live with that sort of paranoia or fear simply because a woman may feel she is entitled to my hard work by default. The law wont take my side regardless of what happens and I have zero rights as a father or husband if I went that route. I cant have the sort of life my grandfather had, and he worked in a fucking steel mill for christs sake.

Im tired of having to tolerate the rights of individuals over the majority too now. Im sick to death of minority groups, religious groups, gay rights groups, environmentalists, feminists, multiculturalists, the apologists, the egalitarians, you name it. You are not entitled to special privileges because of your differences or perceived/real discrimination in the past. If the people around me are going to bend over backwards for your ludicrous demands they can do it without me now too. No more, exclude me from your utopia please. This white male has had enough, find another pair of shoulders to carry the burden or blame. The gutless wonders who are prepared to give into your every whim can deal with the consequences, Ill rather vacate now thanks.

Most of all, I am tired of the entire culture. Its a sick, meandering mess dominated by consumerism and a sense of entitlement. More than anything, its the overall sense of entitlement that I can no longer stomach and its taken me a while to realise that the root cause of all the different 'isms boils down to a sense of entitlement people feel. People seem to have forgotten what is really important, thinking that office cubicles, traffic and mortgage repayments are the sign of a happy person too. All in all between a sense of entitlement and a fucked sense of priorities, I see no future for myself or kids here.

So I am looking around now. Its going to take a few years for this to all happen, but I am looking to relocate permanently. Not even sure where that is yet.

Bad food on the flight home? Big Grin

Nah, I know how you feel, good luck in the change.

All i can suggest is find a place that has access to what you need, and what you think your kids will need.

The latter makes it difficult for 3rd world countries.

The left wing feeds the military industry complex?

Big Agra?

Big Pharma?

Wall Street?

You're still deep in the Matrix if you view the problems with the U.S. as being a left-v-right thang.

I just owned myself. :/

He could've been talking about the U.S. and he sounded like one of our right wing pundits.

Interesting.

I live in Australia, which is a left wing borderline socialist country not much different from Scandinavian countries. Our conservative party is even called The Liberal Party. I live in a country that for the last 50 years has provided the kind of thing many of the left leaning Americans think they would be better off with. Higher taxes on the wealthy, government provided healthcare, welfare, etc. Things are getting progressively worse unless you are prepared to remain a middle class wage slave and everything from the cost of living to the red tape associated with establishing and running a business has become a nightmare. Not to mention the kind of penalties incurred via taxation and cost of living if you are not married with kids. There are fundamental problems in place that may provide comfort and security for people, but its removed quality of life, innovation and reduced happiness for the most part.

There is very little economic freedom as a result, and even worse there is very little innovation too. Everything we have here is almost always a carbon copy of something that has been done somewhere else. We even import franchise models these days as we legislate any and all creativity out of our local markets. And with that has come a culture where people who work to get ahead are often resented.

Many of the systemic problems you guys are seeing with agriculture, pharmaceuticals and Wall Street has more to do with social and government intervention in the first place too.

Sorry bro, Im pulling out. I already live in a left leaning society that has been far more progressive than the USA has over the last 50 years, in everything from economic to social policy. And this is the direction you are guys taking too. As the major exporter of western culture, the fact that everything is moving left is one of the reasons why I am moving away. I believe its going to get worse, not better.

This is a left vs right thing. I have spent enough time in Eastern Europe and Russia to see where this egalitarian bullshit ends up, and societies unchecked sense of entitlement is creating a pretty sick culture. I no longer want a part of it. Its based on a false premise and is at complete odds with reality as far as I am concerned.

Third world countries have no safety net, but in many cases provide an unmatched standard of living and quality of life if you are wealthy.

My only experience with living with a lesser developed country is Malaysia.

Whilst I personally would have a better standard of living in Malaysia, the 'latter' I spoke of would be the hesitance of raising kids there.

I'm not dismissing it, if such a place existed I would be happy to know about it.

Malaysia is actually a good example when it comes to raising a family, so lets run with that. If I was a middle class wage slave in Malaysia, would I want to raise a family there? No ways, they would be better off in Aus because being middle class in Aus is like being wealthy in Malaysia.

If I was a wealthy guy, would I want to raise a family there?

Lets see

Daughters: Muslim society means exposure to slut mentality is lower and disrespect for men is not tolerated. Educated women still have access to high level jobs, and foreign women career wise have a great deal of options if educated due to the amount of western business that is there. Also, family is more important in Malaysia than it is Australia, so her desire to have a family would not be looked down on if she decided to forgo work and marry instead

Sons: Do you think any western country is a good place to be raising boys these days?

Dad: Can fly to Thailand and at the age of 60 bang 20 year old hookers while mommy thinks he is on a business trip.

From a family point of view, iwhen you have money, Malaysia is a far better place to be raising a family than Australia. The thought of having daughters in this country makes my skin crawl. Fucking at 15, drunks by 18, druggies by 21, resentful man hating bitches in their 20's as they become bitter and miserable fat, unhealthy sows in their 30's.

No thanks, I love women too much to constantly see them turn into that shit.

Well that's true of first world countries as well. I mean where do wealthy people live that they don't have a great quality of life?

At least in West, you aren't living behind barbed wire fence to keep out the people the economy isn't working for. I guess you'd love Nigeria.

A high standard of living when you are wealthy can be had almost anywhere, if anything its easier abroad. Money is but one aspect to the overall quality of your life though. There is no quality of life in high wages and high standards of living when you work long hours, eat shitty processed food, have no rights to your family, you are socially maligned because you are a successful white male, you are surrounded by fat drunk whores, you spend hours commuting, you are taxed to hell and back, etc. That sounds like servitude to me.

I dont know, maybe people who have traveled a lot may understand why I am feeling like this more than ever at the moment. Every trip I make I come back a little more jaded than when I left, and this trip for me I think was the final straw.

There are two options for men in Australia these days. Servitude or hedonism. If its the latter, options are better overseas anyway. At least abroad, I may have a chance at some sort of balance between the two, where now I feel like I am being forced to choose between an extreme on either end.

Mauritius has some interesting tax laws. Lots of Indian business people have shell companies there to avoid taxes and envy back in socialist India. Quite a few South African holding companies as well. Not typically regarded as a tax-haven so companies registered there, and individuals resident there, are not subject to as much scrutiny as they would if from the Cayman Islands, say.

Also not a terrible place to live. Much better climate than Dubai for example.

RE: Harry is done
@Sam and El Jefe

Not quite sure yet

Options are either South America or Asia. Eastern Europe and Russia I know well, but the weather kills me and I like the outdoors. Africa is not an option at all.

Asia Pros

- Closer to Aus, so friends and family are a short flight. Im closer to Jakarta and KL than I am Sydney anyway.
- Cheaper to live in
- A lot of opportunity business wise for me, and same timezones as Aus
- A lot more diverse
- Better for personal finance and tax
- Options for expats are always good. Schools, healthcare, etc
- Nightlife in most capitals and cities is almost always good.

Asia Cons

- So many languages
- Food would take some getting used to.
- Asians tend to piss me off business wise, and projects can be frustrating to work on.
- Major cultural adjustments required on my part

South America Pros (Brazil is a non option for me to live)

- Asian women are hot at times, but for the most part I like latinas. So hotter women
- Food. Im a big meat eater
- Mining and resources are booming
- Spanish is enough for most of it
- Cultural differences exist, but its not as diverse as Asia due to the similarities with Spanish
- When it comes to the outdoors, offers tons. Asia tends to be beaches and jungle
- Closer to the US, which is where our head office will be relocating in 2014

South America Cons

- Distance and time zones are shit (big thing for me)
- Its more expensive
- More crime and corruption
- Personal finance is a bit of a nightmare, and moving money can be a real pain in the ass

I dont know, need to obviously give it a lot of thought. Its going to be quite a long process, but I have no doubt anymore it has to happen.

I understand your decision, even though I'm from a different country.

I've been gone for 15 months now and don't miss anything about it except family and friends, but things like Skype/email/Facebook don't make it so bad.

I think the harder decision for us is where to move to.

I respect your posts a lot, but I have some minot points/disagreements.

1. Marriage and money: marry a woman from an equal socioeconomic class or higher.
2. I like taxes and other programs that help maintain a stable population of average people with disposable income for the same reason that Henry Ford started paying his workers $5/day: I make money without great effort because otther people are stupid and complacent and want to be handed things.
3. Taxes, money, etc, are all meaningless. They are conventions. The only thing that matters is if you consume what you want where and how you want.

RE: Harry is done
In the west or (Australia) even if you marry a woman from the same socioeconomic class or higher, she can still make your life miserable. For example, its what 5 hours or so from New York City to Los Angeles? If you get divorced in NYC, your wife can take the kids anywhere in that country. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I know that this can happen in Canada. So, you living in NYC, won't see your kids, and when you do, have to travel so far to be put into a hotel room. After, you will see your kids what once every 4 months (average guy) maybe more maybe less, and you are officially out of the loop.

Taxes are necessary to pay for roads, infrastructure etc. I actually support a universal healthcare system. However, there are many programs that I do not support. The problem with the west which is bringing them down is many things. As Harry mentioned, too many people have a sense of entitlement. Listen all of you entitlement seekers, NOBODY owes you anything. Get off your butt, and stop complaining.

Totally understandable... I admired Australia when I visited for its riches, very high living standard, opportunities for work, legal system and etc... but on the flip side, it was extremely Americanized, with obesity rates through the roof, sluts being predominant and the way of living being extremely unhealthy and toxic. It's such a pity.

p.s. however, I don't think USA is in any kind of a better shape. If anything, it's far worse.
