I haven't ventured out that way for a couple of years so maybe my info is outdated but as far as I know, the "bars" on Quezon Ave are mainly brothels. Timog and Tomas Morato are the roads that you'll find the normal nightlife on in Quezon City.

It's a real ticket issued by the retrospective airline that gets cancelled after 48+ hours. I used them as well and I received a confirmation from the airline itself and had no problems.

Just got back from a short trip in the Philippines. I stayed there 4 days, 2 days in Manila and 2 days in Subic bay. Great times but I'm very glad I don't live there. I might give some info on Subic Bay some time soon, however, there isn't much to say about the place.

Yeah Timog and Tomas Morato area is where the nightlife is for Quezon City. Also known as Scout Circle.

Would it be reasonable to say that Baguio is the only city in the Philippines that a westerner could comfortably spend a long time in or live in?

BGC is probably nicer than Baguio, by western standards.
Subic is pretty developed too but could probably get very boring.
And some people like Alabang.

Everything else is 3rd world, really.
Even the famed CBD Makati is very grimy.

Cebu overall is the best place to live I think, looking back and had the best vibe long term. I did not enjoy Luzon at all or any part of Manila and burned out quickly there.

Cebu has a ton of variety of outdoor activities and recreation. Can live upscale at Calyx/Avida or suburbs at Mabolo, Mactan, or Lahug. Way better restaurants than Manila too imo. Lower CoL. If you work online just stay home and get foodpanda / honestbee delivery 70% and eat out 30%.

If I return, I would consider getting somewhere on the beach (or resort) outside the city this time for 3 months and have girls come over. The problem is when you make plans like this and start living your best life is when trouble starts with these people.

You'll probably get the best rate by changing it to USD in Thailand then exchange the USD to PHP in the Philippines.

It sounds like you did no research and listed the first 4 cities that came to mind. Those places have very little crossover appeal minus the easy women. That budget will work anywhere but you're probably going to have to get in contact with local landlords, not Airbnb hosts.

Cebu is the most well rounded city in the Philippines. It's the adventure starting point capital, popular with transient Filipinos from other places looking for better opportunities, and also douchey vlogger types. Also a seedy p4p atmosphere, but easy to keep yourself removed from that.

Angeles has the reputation of Pattaya, a world capital for p4p.

Iloilo is a largely undiscussed 3rd tier city, probably too boring a place to live for most expats.

Dumaguete is sort of like a mini Cebu, draws way more expats then other cities it's size because it's been hyped and it's also a good adventure hub for the area.
