Guys, i booked a gringo hostel in Bogota well before i looked into this forum and now im worried its going to be my downfall with the ladies.

I was advised to go on Colombian cupid to line up some dates, and it has been stupidly successful! Is the hostel going to be a major let down for when trying to seal the deal? I know most hostels have a very strick policy with bringing back guests, but looking at some of the girls that i'm in contact with, there is no way i can be cock blocked...they are unreal and unlike anything you get near in England!!!

Any advice greatly appreciated...and i will report all my findings!

You won't be able to take them back to your hostel, that is for sure. So you are either going to have to grab a short time/love motel to make it happen, or get yourself an apartment or normal hotel if you can afford it.

Also, be sure to read the threads on here about Colombia. A lot of good info dropped by people like Mixx and scotian. Many have talked about a high flake factor with girls on Colombian Cupid. I believe scotian might be in Bogota right now, so you might want to shoot him a PM for advice.

Every hostel has different guest policies, it's best just to e-mail or call them ahead of time to see what they are. Make sure you imply you aren't referring to hookers, but "friends from home that are visiting for the day" or some other bullshit. 99% of the time they are concerned about dirty gringos bringing back dirty whores to their hostel.

I snuck a Colombiana into my super-strict, no-guests-allowed gringo hostel (PM me for the name) in Bogota last year, but it was not easy. I also had a private room that I shared with my buddy, whom I immediately kicked the fuck out so I could have some glory times.

Defo need to find an apartment or something different. Am I just being paranoid? Or do I have every right to be reserved about how genuine some of these girls are that say they want to meet me? You just don't get near girls like this where I'm from so I'm just thinking "scam"!!!

Do get me wrong I'm a good look glad, and I'm I shape...but these girls are unreal!!!

My preferred Bogota love hotel: Ilusiones CL 48 9-16

I ended up staying there for four nights after my apartment lease was done, ask for room #308, its big, 40" flat screen TV (channel 3 is a porn channel), hot water, love seat and sofa. No WI-FI (lots of internet shops around) and the pillows suck.

Its in Chapinero and within stumbling distance of a bunch of good bars and clubs frequented by uni crowds on calle 51 with Cr 7, check out those bars on Friday afternoons 4pm-10pm you will see lots of drunk students drinking beer and aguardiente. Taxi to zona rosa is about 8K, same for Candelaria, get the hotel to call you a cab at night.

CC is decent, the girls aren't necessarily looking to scam you, the talent is so-so, you should be able to wrangle something off there. Get a cell phone asap when you get there.

If you're looking to bang chicks, don't stay at hostels.

Cancel the hostel asap! Get an apt is much better.
IMO hostels are only good to meet people and save bucks.
But if you already have girls waiting for you,,, an apt will be great. You will prove DHV and you can bring girls 24/7 without the need of ¨¨sneeking girls¨ or beg the guy at the desk to let her in ( aka bribe him)

In a girl´s mind only backpackers stays at hostels. Men and successful guys stay at hotels or rent an apartment.

My predicament is do I get a hotel and hope the online dates come off, or do I go for the hostel and have a few nights smashing the nightlife with some of the hostel goers. Obviously I would love to get it on with some of these cc girls. They are pretty keen to meet up, or they seem keen. Will be easier In Santa Marta as I will have more time to play with.

Can't wait to report my findings! I've even gone yet and already I have a collection of pics of some of the girls that are potential dates. Never seen ass and tits like it!

That's one thing that pissed me off about Brazil, that I still to this day do not understand, when hostels and pousadas won't let you bring "guests" back to your room.

I ended up getting brutally cockblocked by the night guardsmen at the pousada I was staying at on Ilha Grande, I was making out with the chick, sucking on her titties, and fingering her on the beach, it was a done deal, only to have the night guard not allow her on the pousada grounds. I got into a major tiff with the owner the next day, I made a bunch of threats and finally he relented and let me bring the girl to my room that night. Dude was a total anal prick though and didn't want to let me bring a girl back.

Party hostels are more chill about this, but when I stayed at the Mango Tree Hostel in Ipanema, they had a sign saying that they didn't allow outside guests and they had a guy working the front desk watching who comes in.

Brazil is such a sexually liberated country and culture, but they cock-block you when you try to bring a girl to your room, makes absolutely no sense to me. I guess in that situation you got to take a girl to a love motel, which almost seems like it would be kind of a hassle to me.

You can always hang out at the hostels, especially the ones that have a bar, Musicology in Candelaria is decent, they have free salsa lessons there on Tuesday nights, they also organize party buses, or "chivas" for pub crawls on the weekend.

Stay in a hotel or apartment, if you want a fully furnished short term rental in chapinero for 100K/night, let me know.

I feel your pain dude. The cocksuckers at the front desk of one of the girls I was hooking up with in Brazil told me I had to pay $75 to go up to her room. I couldn't bring myself to pay it at the time. They also told me no guests at the pousada I was staying at, but I only brought my girl at night. The night crew was always cool, the day crew sucked. They would call me up at 8 am asking me to come downstairs and pay them every 3 or 4 days. I never understood it. They never took a credit card deposit or anything from me. They'd just have me stay 3 or 4 days and then have me pay. If I really wanted to I could have just left after those 3 days and they would have never found me.

I'm sure this question's been asked before and I looked around briefly on colombian threads but there are so many colombian threads its hard to narrow them down. Can anyone give me an idea of how much a one bedroom rental would be in colombia for a month or two? What's the best way to go about it? I wouldn't mind having a roomate my age. A friend of mine told me he met someone by posting a flyer at a local university. I'm gonna need a lot of colombia info here in the next couple months since I should be making a trip around October.

I always felt so sleezy trying to get a girl to go to a love hotel. I never ended up doing it. I guess it's just the culture. If you asked a girl to go to a hotel in the states I think she'd feel like a prostitute unless it was the hotel you were already staying at. I was lucky enough for the family I stayed with to be really cool and let me bring girls home here and there. That would definitely not happen with most families in Brazil though.

I agree, but I never get a dorm bed in a hostel, I always get a private room, so I already have a private "f-close" location. The only reason why I do hostels is because I normally travel alone and like to meet other travelers, so I'm not totally bored, isolated, alone, etc.

Thing that sucks about hostels though is you end up meeting other foreigners. I could stay in the states to do that. I wanna meet the the local people. I saw it happen in Brazil a couple times when I'd meet people staying at hostels. They would say, "I'm going to a little outing with the people at my hostel." Really? You came to Brazil to hang out with English, German, and Swiss people? If you are good at meeting people you shouldn't need hostels to meet people. I try and avoid hostels at all costs. I've stayed in one for 2 nights when I first moved to SoBe and I couldn't stand it. I had to get the fuck out ASAP.

So i'm thinking...Friday night in the Hostel so i can find my bearings, then have sat and Sunday night in the Hilton (on the basis one chick has said she will go out on sat with me and come for a swim...i.e she's game!) My only worry is that i will have to stay in the pool all the time to hide my erection She's hot!

Make sure you check into the Hilton's guest policy and tell them you have a girl coming, those higher end places tend to be strict too.

You also need to be careful which hotel you pick. it isnt just hostels, many hotels also do not allow you to bring girls back. Even some apartments that you can rent won't allow you to bring girls up. Many colombian men hate the idea of gringo men coming and taking their women and will try to stop you.

You need to call ahead of time and ask straight up what their policy is on bringing guests back. Unless you get a clear answer that it is allowed, dont stay there. You may feel sketchy asking them on the phone, but if they have any reservations at all about you bringing girls back, it is better to find out before you leave than to find out when you have a girl ready to go and you want to go upstairs.

Another tip- make friends with the doormen. Chat with them, and tip them if they help you. you want to be on good terms with them so they dont rat you out if you are bringing different girls back.

This happened to me in a novotel in London earlier this year after I spent all night ear washing a beautifull eastern europen chick. I eventually broke her, only to get ruined by the night porter! I could have killed him. He wanted £150 to take the girl up, as it's against hotel policy. I seriously could never have the heart to do that to anyone.

Bad idea. You don't want to put all your eggs in one basket, because it may not pan out. You should be trying multiple opportunities to ensure success.

They have apartment rentals in Colombia, and not every hotel has a no guest policy. Get your logistics straight and enjoy your trip without having to worry about this.

Celtic is right, dude there are soooo many hotels in every Colombian city that won't bat an eye at you bringing in a different girl every night, tipping the security is a good idea too.

It's not considered sleazy in Brazil though as the majority have no choice because they live with parents so will always fuck at love hote;s. It was always the girls who suggested to me we go to a love hotel, there was never any issue with it.

Private rooms in hostels tend to be way over priced for what you get, often a room in a guesthouse or hotel works out better value. I travel alone too, as does probably 99% of people on this forum. I know when I stay in hostels I end up spending all my time with the other hostel guests, it's just so easy to hang out and do whatever they are doing rather than going out and meeting locals. I don't want to spend my whole trips getting drunk with other Europeans and Americans anymore, I want to meet locals. Staying in a hotel forces me to look for opportunities to meet locals. You don't have to be bored because you're travelling alone, you just got to make your own fun instead of following the hostel crowd. If I opted for hostels on my current trip I would have fucked a hell of a lot less girls that is a fact.

Agreed. I'm over the hostel thing now. It's not worth it and I've had a much more local experience on my current trip by not doing hostels. Most of my time is spent with people who live here, locals and a couple expats.

Yeah, before coming to Thailand I looked at a few serviced apartments and it wasn't clear what their guest policy was so I emailed them to ask. A couple flat out told me I could not bring anyone back or invite people over whether it was girls, friends, anyone. I wanted an apartment so I had freedom to do what I wanted (within reason) having a rule like that is stupid. A couple said it would be OK 'now and again' which made no sense to me, either it's OK or it's not. Some said I'd have to pay a fee. If I'm renting an apartment from them for a few months I shouldn't have to pay fees to have girls over. In the end I just opted for a hotel that stated on it's website that you could bring someone back if you paid a small 'joiner fee', that was fine with me.
