I was walking through the bookstore today and noticed Moon has a series of books called "Living Abroad in...." for china, brazil, etc. They talk about finding employment, housing, etc.

I haven't read any of these books but I was interested because I've been using just lonely planet, and realize it's limited outside of the most basic sightseeing type travel information.

another series is the "culture shock" series, but I haven't read those either.

It would be cool if there was a compendium list of good guides for each country, including specific guides not part of any series.

This forum is easily one of The best travel guides. It contains relevant information and the members on here come from all countries. I'm sure any info you seek on a specific place which hasn't yet been mentioned can be got by simply asking.
