Long story short I live in a duplex down stairs from drug addicts (crack,meth,heroin,opiates,zanax,weed). I was friends with the upstairs neighbor for a while and hungout with him because he seemed like a normal dude at first; we started hanging out after his girlfriend left him. I got deceived because he was sober,had a hot girl,and was involved in an industry that sounds official/glamorous but is really just riddled with drug addicts who cant do much else.

I started working as part of a crew for some very lucrative work (nothing illegal),but he's a horrible leader,doesn't explain things well,doesn't provide any real help / support,and meanwhile expects me to drive him/everyone around as a chauffer to be a part of things because im the only one with a car. Basically wastes my time and annoys me for shit all the time. I was cool with this for a while because I'd get free cigs,and weed,but the other stuff and the risk of them bringing drugs around with them I just cant do it any more. I don't want to take the time to help some drug addict who owes me money,runs around like a lunatic waked out on whatever drug he affords that day,makes my job more complicated as a result of his drug problems,and tries to manipulate me using methods that are funny as fuck because you have to be doped out to fall for it.

The other night I said I couldn't drive them around under any circumstance anymore because a room mate tried copping drugs in a parking lot after a meeting from some fat dopehead woman who could have been a CI trying to sell him a felony amount of drugs. (unlikely but who cares).
A couple hours later at 4 am (30 mins after I fall asleep) I hear what sounds like someone getting their head stomped in,kicked,or ground and pounded upstairs and screaming so I'm scared shitless and put 911 in my phone(they owe heroin/crack dealers money so I assumed they had the door kicked in). After realising it was only the main guy wacked out on meth I go up stairs to ask what's going on he says "We woke up and were smoking a blunt" in a casual way like nothing is wrong. He also says something about me saying I wanted to wake up early so he did me a favor. The methamphetamine fueled screaming and stomping continues for over an hour before I can sleep.

I like my place and don't want to move because my only other living option would be a small studio or room for rent but I can't live here if this continues. Do you think its possible to cut off ties like I Have and just ignore each other or did I fuck up by becoming close and im basically forced to leave if I want peace?

I don't care about the money he owes me (His boss trusted him to pay me and I have no way of cantacting her unless I pay another room mate for her number) as I made more money from other things so if he were rational he should just appreciate the fact that he got a free 70$ + commissions for other work(Claims he didn't get them but in reality the rest of his drug addict idiots didn't work hard so the commission he gets from me as an organizer helped pay for his rental car they gave him an advance for instead of actually being in a check due) so you'd think in a rational world he could just accept that and be ok.

I'm confused, if your work is lucrative then why are your housing options so limited? Why cant you just find work elsewhere and what wrong with a small studio? If your the outsider of this crew and someone gets pinched, bet they'll put it on you.

Im a student. I need to get close to 4.0 and don't have time to support my self,and enjoy life. The housing options I have are properties my family owns or a room for rent. They fucked up on this one and didn't do a background check. Worst case scenario i'd rather take a studio than pay bills.

The studio is the size of a closet vs having a decent one bedroom apartment.

Reading that makes me think you made a mistake getting involved with this guy(s).

If you don't want to move I'd try to soft next him. Make excuses (ex. busy with school, etc.), do your work/study at a friend's place or coffee shop (probably a good idea to take your laptop/valuables with you when you leave), yadda yadda.

I say this from personal experience: be glad you don't actually live with him.

Sadly, it does not mean that you have posession of a joint. It means that you may jointly be in posession of someone else's joint from a criminal point of view. Or more importantly, their crack or their heroin. If you're driving them, the cops stop you, and they throw the drugs down where you can reach them (pretty much anywhere in the car) then they can charge both of you. Unless of course, he is the kind of stand up guy that immediately volunteer to the cops that those are all his drugs. I don't think he's that kind of guy.

Yeah it was a mistake but he was normal at first. He wasnt doing the h crack or meth for a period of time. Dude seemed smart motivated and down on his luck so i decided to help him out here and there. Im trying to mantain the "busy with school thing" without offending him and i didnt get bothered today.


@dark i wasnt aware of the jargon but knew i could get fucked.Thats why even now that the roomates are leaving im not gonna take him/them anywhere.....

Dude don't get me wrong but were you on something yourself when you wrote this? The original post reads just like a speed comedown.

If not, and if you have any other housing option why would you even put up with any of that shit?

Move out to one of your parents' properties as soon as you can. If you stay, you getting arrested for joint possession is one of the better possible outcomes of your situation. A bad outcome would be one of those freaks getting tweaked AF kicking your door down and stabbing you to death.

He owes you money and is a pain in the ass.

What the fuck exactly do you get out of him?

You feel bad for him so you decide to help him out and then figure out he's on drugs?

Get off the drugs yourself and get the fuck out of there.

Cancerous parasitic drug addicts aren't worth your fucking time unless that is what you also happen to be.

Take the closet apartment and learn your lesson - don't get involved with trash.

Consider checking out another place to live.

I was in a situation where I had to deal with a bunch of wacked people in close vicinity to my living quarters, but i didn't want to do it because I wanted to be cheap and save the cash.

Worst decision ever. I was always super paranoid, couldn't sleep good, and i rarely even wanted to be home which clearly defeated the point of even staying there in the first place.

It might cost some cash to move, but if you can afford it, the peace of mind is completely worth it.
