In an effort to decrease the dependency on mainland tourism, the Taiwanese government has recently decided to focus on attracting visitors from SEA instead, with one of the key measures being visa free access for nationals from countries such as Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines.

While this economically seems to be somewhat successful, an unfortunate side effect is that in the past 2 years the country has been getting swamped with prostitutes and ladyboys seeking to make a quick buck, mostly from Thailand.

Anyone who uses Tantan, Tinder etc here knows that you pretty much come across them daily now, but they even frequent the mainstream clubs and bars, so there is no escaping them and the trend doesn't look to be stopping anytime soon.

Earlier this year there was a high profile case of a Thai prostitute exposing possibly hundreds of clients in Keelung to HIV. Have also heard many cases of local guys bringing them home and then getting asked for money. Just as a general PSA I'd suggest to just steer clear of any girl from SEA here, because chances are she's a whore or a ladyboy. Some are very easy to spot and very aggressive, but at times I've had to do a double take, and the fact that you have to be vigilant now when this problem didn't exist three years ago pisses me off to no end. But it is what it is so watch out.

It's not some big dramatic change but noticeable enough to be annoying. After all I didn't come here to deal with SEA bullshit.

I don't know what happened to Tantan either, 2 years ago you'd only get mainland tourist girls here and it was amazing. Now it's all bots, hookers and local uggos. Meanwhile in the mainland it's still pretty great because they actually ban all the trash if you report it.

How important is geography (drinks near your place), how often are you pulling an hour in versus splitting across multiple dates etc.

I was recently in Taipei for three days, I didn't get laid. I really liked the city, the food, the affordable prices, the girls and the people in general. Yes, Tantan and tinder were filled with pros and trannies.
I spent three days in Taichung as well and I did get laid there with a tinder chick that went straight to my room.
If salaries in Taiwan were similar to what I'm making in mainland China I'd consider moving to Taiwan.

Old thread from 2013 but I doubt OP is a 7.

I was able to get 9 FWBs within 6 months in Korea and I feel like a 3/10. My only redeeming features are being white and taller than 6 feet in a nutshell. Granted I met these women through social circle and some daygame and not off dating apps (dating apps in Korea weren't that great).

Also what makes me suspicious is a lot of Korean women have a very idealized / romanticized view of British culture and British men. A huge contrast to real British people who are more like drunk sailors based off hostel interactions with them over the last 10 years of travel.

Now at the taipei airport. Basically considering flying to hanoi or china. To be honest, taipei has been WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY overpriced for the relatively low chinese quality much of it is.

Taiwan is overrated to me. It's super easy to get matches on Tinder but my best experiences / feedback in Taiwan was with non-Taiwanese women.

There's a lot of cockblocking in Taiwan's culture: racist media, women living with parents (curfew), overworking culture (so she rarely has time off to chill) and Taiwanese guys are confrontational about foreign men taking their women.

Tinder is full of them in Taiwan. If a girl looks too good then in most cases you should just swipe left. Then I often get matched with a "trap" from South East Asia (a ladyboy that looks like a real woman) because I don't bother reading profiles on Tinder.
