Anyone familiar with 2nd tier Hungary?
Haven't been to Hungary for over a decade and I'm sure it's completely changed. Budapest is now a heavily-visited international city. Anyone headed out to the provinces, and if so, how was it? My feeling is that a lot of the prettier girls head to Budapest and what's left are the low quality and those that settle down young. And that in such a small country there's probably no great value to be found in a place like Pécs or Debrecen. Would love to hear from someone with experience though. Interested in the potential of the women for LTR and whether those cities are depressing backwaters or not.

No-one knows? How about second-tier cities in other EE countries? How do they compare to the capitals?

I also don't know, but I have wondered before why no one ever spoke about other cities in Hungary. I imagine they are industrial shitholes. There are some exceptions, but in general, in EE second or third tier cities are cities build around some big factories with extremely old Sovjet machinery and ugly as fuck social housing blocks all over. Hot and easy girls are possible tho. It would perhaps be a good topic for a thread. Second and third tier EE cities that are not complete dumps.

Well, Hungary is not FSU, with massive Soviet monoliths decaying on a featureless steppe. Most of the smaller cities have old Austro-Hungarian architecture and are not particularly industrial. But basically my feeling is that Hungary is small, these cities are only two hours drive from Budapest and apart from university students in some of them, the capital has probably siphoned off all the life. Same probably goes for Czechia apart from Prague, etc.

Why would you live outside of Budapest?

It's super cheap already. I paid less than 300 USD for my place back in the days and I don't think rents have spiraled out of control in the meantime.

I was working there and colleagues of mine were very rooted in their cities though and commuted every day from Szeged and the like.

I have lived in 2nd tier euro cities before and being European myself I find these places to be very small minded - full of people that never left them and think the world revolves around their 2nd tier euro city. People living in these places don't tend to speak fluent English or have any interest in the outside world. Flying to Spain for holiday once in a blue moon every couple years is already a trip to another planet for them if they can even afford it.

RE: Anyone familiar with 2nd tier Hungary?
My "main" is from Budapest and I visit her whenever I get a chance, biggest reason because I absolutely love Budapest and Hungary.

Anyway, a lot of her friends are from Debrecen and they, as well as other hungarians I've met have talked a lot about how the government apparently is trying to help businesses come to Debrecen and puts a lot of money on the city since they want two international cities in the country. Their belief seem to be that Debrecen will grow and is sort of a city for the future and it's also significantly cheaper there than in Budapest. But there's only like 210 000 people living there, so significantly smaller than Budapest and less to do.

I don't know much about the women there other than my girl's friends and can't say if there's much of a difference. But I think that, if something, the smaller towns will be even better in order to find a decent woman. They should be even less influenced by the "progressive" big international city life.

I think the potential for good LTR is high all over Hungary. I mean, a part from a few exceptions from night clubs I've only met women with some great conservative values that have only laughed at the stupidity in northern and western Europe with feminism (and immigration) and they're not PC and will tell you if they think something is bullshit. Compared to Scandinavia it's mindblowing.

I would agree with AsiaBaller - Budapest is already beautiful, awesome and cheap so I see little reason to live in a smaller place there unless you love smaller towns. It's possible to find really nice and calm places in the suburbs of Budapest where it doesn't take long at all to be in the center.

I have spent some time in Pecs, Szeged and Debrecen, the "problem" in those cities is that for many years they are full of foreign students so the royalty factor is low and they are boring in midweek, I think Hungary is one of the places that the capital is much better.
