Eventually one of the City Councilors had to make a rule that they weren't allowed to talk vote about, censure, or even talk about anything unless it actually involve the city or residents of Cambridge. They could go through MONTHS of meetings censuring South Africa, treatment of women in Saudi (places they had never ever been to and no impact on their city or their job). If you complained, you were were a full blown thoughtcriminal that didn't "care enough". So everyone had to bow down to these people, until the one guy that actually did "care" about taking care of the people he was assigned to help (by fixing their roads and and schools and such) had to make a rule so they could even ATTEMPT to do their jobs.

Our values have gone pretty far when shit like this starts happening.

The basic problem is that people are willing to set aside good storytelling in favour or racelifts and gender quotas. I had my own game company back in the 90s. It never rose nor fell on the basis of identity politics. However, we had many elements that would be considered "woke" today.

At the time, an industry veteran said "I want to congratulate you for being the first company to prominently feature a minority woman on the cover of your product." To this day, I don't know if that was tongue in cheek or woke before woke (it wasn't sarcasm).

The thing is, we were not trying to advance some SJW agenda but rather trying to tell good stories. Of anything, we were hard right, and yet mysteriously women and minorities were part of our narrative.

Many people don't know that the protagonist from the masterpiece Starship Troopers was a Filipino man from Brazil. How "woke" is that?

I think that one of the most simple yet potent legislative moves Trump could make would be to require media outlets which are operating at a loss to be governed by the same rules as political ads where the source of funding has to be made clear at the end of the story.

Many people are conpletely unaware that some of these institutions are entirely under the financial thumb of billionaire oligarchs.
