In the bigger cities the elite should be interested for their own good to create modern toilets - private/public-paid/public-free for their own good. There is no other way.

In the countryside you don't need to clean anything - just dig up a deep hole like they used to do in the West. When it's getting too old or too filled, then you bury it with earth and dig another one in the vicinity - that is the low-tech approach done in Europe for centuries and centuries now. Every farmer was able to do it and you don't need much land at all. Human shit is bad for fertilization anyway and we know this for a long time.

It will take time to solve all this - but they are on a right trajectory, so I see no issue with it unless you expect Chinese level of development. That is simply not realistic in that time frame. Take the long-term approach and everything is looking fine.

There are plenty of free public toilets in the cities which are usually open air urinals where dudes piss in full view. If you get within 50 metres of one the stench is indescribable, and if you're brave enough to walk past one the urinals are usually piled full of shit. If you're really lucky, you might see a friendly local with his pants around his ankles contributing his own steaming pile of turd. I guess it's a step in the right direction though.


Can't be too smug though, because Paris now has its own own air urinals. It seems that while India takes a step forward, France takes several steps backwards.

Thanks for the vid Simeone, the guy has a really solid head on his shoulders.

The only thing I question is when he tries to get in the heads of local Indians and starts spouting off feminist talking points about them "wanting to feel powerful". At a wild guess, if someone has never been laid in their life, Occam's Razor is much closer to "He's trying to get laid" than some gender studies studies power theory. It is almost like a hierarchy when it comes to race and gender on this forum and other places like it. On one hand we're complaining about the #MeToo culture but on the other when a white woman, when being told multiple times not to go to India, gets sexually assaulted then there is everything wrong with Indian men.

I get where you are coming from but you make the assumption that feminism does not target Indian and brown men in general. The goal of feminism is really to promote the well being of western white women who invented the whole thing in the first place, even feminists of a minority background are frustrated by how much feminism overlooks them. I have found it to be the greatest irony that it is the women who need feminism the least due to living in safe societies that rave about it the most.

The point I am trying to make is that feminism doesn't have it out just for white men, men of minority groups face just as much backlash for being men.

Having grown up there, understanding it and visiting it occasionally, I can separate the truth from hate, especially when I see who the posters are and how many posts they make per day.

Saw something similar to Horus's picture while on an overnight train in Rajasthan province. Woke up when we were rolling through some random smallish village in the middle of nowhere, looked outside and saw about twenty five dudes squatting by the river, not far from the tracks, taking their morning dump right next to each other. I didn't bother to see if anyone downstream was taking water out to use for cooking but it wouldn't surprise me.
