Mercedes-Benz is unveiling on Tuesday its first all-electric model Mercedes-Benz EQC at an event in Stockholm—the first of a series of global premieres of electric vehicles by German luxury car brands to challenge Tesla in the premium EV segment.

Although its global premiere is today, the Mercedes-Benz EQC will be launched on the market in 2019 and will be the first all-electric Mercedes-Benz model from the car brand’s new product and technology brand, EQ.

Another German brand, BMW, is teasing the premiere of a new concept EV, BMW Vision iNEXT.

A third automaker, Audi, started on Monday mass production of the Audi e-tron, the brand’s first all-electric SUV. The world premiere of the e-tron will take place in Tesla’s very own backyard, San Francisco, on September 17.

The German carmakers are presenting electric vehicles that could start challenging Tesla’s market share in the premium EV sales, but analysts diverge in their opinions about just how fast and how much the German luxury brands can take away from Tesla.

According to Wajih Hossenally, an automotive powertrain analyst at IHS Markit, the arrival of German premium EV offerings would weaken Tesla’s position in the luxury segment.

“Tesla has virtually zero competition - but this will change from 2019 onwards,” the analyst told Reuters.

LMC Automotive thinks that the German car brands could exceed Tesla’s market share and hold 11.8 percent of the market in 2020. Three years later, Germany’s luxury electric vehicles share could rise to 19 percent, according to LMC Automotive forecasts, carried by Reuters.

LOL I might buy a couple cheap Tesla Put options just for the schadenfreude of it.

To think, the power this diver has over him, to make him lash out every few months. Yet I'm supposed to be believe that this man has what it takes to lead and navigate a multi billion dollar company that is trying to break new frontiers with space travel and cars........

It's a very apt tag. I heard recently that Tesla is valued at more than the ford motor company! Let that sink in a moment. Despite selling 75k cars a year and loosing millions its valued more than Ford. It blows my mind that people don't learn after the dot com bubble.

All tesla "power" is essentially the batteries that you get in neckbeard e-cigarettes wired in series and parallel to give the required number of volts. And made in japan by panasonic. Presumably with an inverter to run an AC motor.

The funny part is that the Musk allegations started against the diver because he said that a Musk-mini-submarine would not work in that environment. And frankly - seriously - what was he smoking on that day? First you have to build it, test it, then you have to maneuver it safely in that environment where sometimes barely a human can squeeze through.

So then he spends his time criticizing a man who was working on rescuing children? Even if he was a pedophile, then at least he is balancing his sins by saving lives. And not everyone loves to sue everyone just due to some allegations.

The world is filled with pedophiles - why not go against them if he is so brave - go to Washington and Pedowood and go apeshit Elon! But he would not dare voicing rumors or even backed-up statements against the elite-protected classes. Because those guys are not just some nobodies - their lawsuits might come in tandem with black-ops kill teams.

I doubt it's as endearing as with lazy George at Seinfeld. It's more akin to a psychopath or someone emotionally unstable - especially when it's a billionaire doing it. There was a TV series once about a corporate psycho who slept at home under his desk naked.





Sane founders understand that some businesses can fail and it is no shame. He could have gone on to much greener pastures in the future even if Tesla goes bust.

The EQC is ugly as fuck but its not the point. GM, Toyota, Mercedes, VAG, et al have the economies of scale and dealer network to take hits AND misses to find out where the market is for electric cars. Tesla cannot.

Congrats to them for being a catalyst. But that's it.

Difficult to disagree with this. Took many decades (maybe at least half century if not more) for some of these companies to scale up & get their distribution network to the point that it is today. Of course the auto industry took a massive hit during the last great recession, but thanks to the bailouts the infrastructure still largely stands.

Is there’s something that happened?

And immediately after becoming part of the club he starts seeing pedos everywhere.

At my understanding of the world when I walk into that place as a newly minted member, then I am not surprised by anything. If I see children in cages and next a ceremonial sacrifice of a baby I just think to myself: "Yup - pretty much what I expected." And if they offer you baby-meat human sausage, then you better swallow that shit. You already said yes and there is no going back - at least alive.
