RE: The Donald Trump thread
Seems Jim Jordan's comments fall largely in line with the "CongressAnon's" account of the Bruce Ohr testimony :

@Jim_Jordan
Aug 29
Quote:It’s now obvious that the FBI knew but didn’t tell the Court:

-About Bruce and Nellie Ohr’s involvement
-About Christopher Steele’s extreme bias against President Trump
-And that the Clinton campaign paid for the Dossier

@Jim_Jordan
20h
Quote:Chris Steele was working directly with FBI. Why did he also need Bruce Ohr to pass information to FBI?

-Because Ohr was a top DOJ official
-Because his wife Nellie worked for Fusion GPS
-And because the more high level people spreading lies, the more likely they’re believed

(08-30-2018 10:14 PM)The Lizard of Oz Wrote:  I think that more than anything else, T truly wants to help people who have served their time get another chance at life. One of the most beautiful things about T -- one of the many beautiful things about him -- is that he is occasionally struck in childlike wonder by the power he has to do good. He said this tonight when talking about preventing increases in prescription drug prices -- I realized maybe for the first time how much power we really have; and there was a similar strong feeling when he was talking in another speech about pardoning the old black woman on whose behalf Kim Kardashian had interceded, and who had spent over two decades in prison. It amazes T, as well it should, that he has the power to pardon this woman, to change her life from one moment to the next and to see the tears of joy on her face and in the beaming faces of her family.

Unlike the canting ghouls of the Year Zero left, T does not pretend to be constantly preoccupied with "empathy" and "compassion", and he is not afraid to both be and appear fulsomely and wholeheartedly vain and selfish -- although these qualities, which would be flaws in a lesser man, have been turned into virtues that fuel T's boundless energy and that allow him to be selfish on behalf of America and its people. But occasionally -- and increasingly often, I think -- he is visibly transported and taken over by the power to do good that has been given to him; and that is something, as T himself might say, that is really special to witness.

LOZ when he spoke about felons, this really stuck with me, made me love this madman even more.

He wants to help, he wants to do good, he wants to give Americans a second chance.

He straight said we're going to help, we have programs to help, and if the guys don't work out, that's fine.

He literally said some of these guys are getting 2nd and 3rd chances, he said that meaning "we're willing to work with them."

I personally believe the jail system needs reform, however I still want to know if I'm hiring a felon or not (in California they're trying to get rid of the "are you a felon" box on an application).

I'd be more trustworthy of a guy who was honest and told me his story or who came from a rehab program.

If we don't help these guys, they'll just be incarcerated again, set on a loop. (This excludes legit murderers, pedos, and actual rapists)

The few felons I know are blue collar and work their asses off - I'm stoked to see them do well.

We need to help our fellow Americans rise up together.

Trump was bragging off record that he won’t compromise with Canadians.. good! They can’t have higher tariffs or run surpluses with a country they are lucky to trade with.

People who served their time deserve second chances in life. It’s good for them and good for society - all of us. The last thing we want is released felons with idle hands and no hope. Where do you think their energy goes then? With 3.9% unemployment (and pressures on hiring illegals) employers can’t be so choosy and have to give these folks a chance. That’s a good thing. It keeps them off the street, reduces their incentives to do drugs and return to crime, and gives them a sense of purpose and meaning. This is good for all of us.

Take care of those titties for me.

RE: The Donald Trump thread

Edit. ^^^^
Quote:McConnell's Senate Continues to Rapidly Confirm Trump's Judges

The Senate reached a deal Tuesday to swiftly confirm seven federal district court judges, helping President Donald Trump put an enduring stamp on the U.S. judiciary.

The latest confirmations mean Trump, with the help of Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, has already confirmed 60 judges to the courts — including 33 district court judges, 26 appeals court judges and Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch.

They will shape U.S law for generations, as most are in their 40s or 50s. They were chosen with input from the Federalist Society, a group of conservative judicial advocates who want to curtail the federal government’s powers. Liberal groups have countered that Trump’s judges will endanger economic regulations, civil rights laws, health care access and women’s reproductive rights.

The seven newly confirmed judges are Terry Fitzgerald Moorer in Alabama, R. Stan Baker in Georgia, Charles Barnes Goodwin in Oklahoma, Barry W. Ashe in Louisiana, James R. Sweeney II in Indiana, Susan Paradise Baxter in Pennsylvania, and Nancy E. Brasel in Minnesota.

Eight more of Trump’s district court nominees are set for confirmation next week, said McConnell’s deputy chief of staff, Don Stewart. Acting on the judicial nominations was one of the primary reasons the Republican leader scrapped the Senate’s annual August recess.

"In August alone, the Senate confirmed another 15 judges — with eight more locked in for next week. These are judges who will be in place for decades," Stewart said in an email.

Democratic leaders came under fire from party activists for consenting to fast-track votes when they had the ability to force procedural votes and slow down the confirmations.

“Mitch McConnell is in the middle of stealing the federal courts for conservatives, and Democrats continue to bring a butter knife to a gunfight,” said Brian Fallon, executive director of the progressive judicial group Demand Justice and a former spokesman for Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York. “It is hard to think of a more pathetic surrender heading into the Kavanaugh hearings.”

The Senate Judiciary Committee is scheduled to begin a hearing Sept. 4 on Trump’s nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to replace retired Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy. Liberals have mobilized in an attempt to block his confirmation.

The GOP has only a narrow 50 to 49 margin in the Senate and Republican-allied outside groups are buying ads and putting pressure on Democratic senators running for re-election in states where Trump won to back Kavanaugh’s confirmation.

The unanimous consent agreement on the nominees meant no senator objected. A Senate Democratic aide said the party’s leaders allowed the votes to go forward because Republicans already had the votes to confirm the nominees, and the deal allowed vulnerable red-state incumbents to return home to campaign before tough midterm election races.

McConnell said in an interview in December that reshaping the U.S. courts under Trump had been the proudest achievement in his Senate career of more than three decades.

Paul Krugman cracks me up:

That moron is hilarious. Didn't the guy say that the best way to deflate the Dot-Com-bubble is to create the real estate bubble? Well done moron.

Plus economics are constantly improving in those countries after the destruction of WWII and then decades of communist, then robber-baron grifting in the 1990s.

Krugman at this time is a hilarious globalist joke and at best the definition of a Lysenkoist-economist. Never heard Milton Friedman say stupid shit like that.

You likely have a much better shot than I will. I will bet on ATT Stadium or something around the DFW area. I doubt they will come down to the Houston area. A wildcard will be the Austin area. The traffic is already bad there and the libs would human road block access to the event and throw a giant bitch fit. They should stay out of lib territory in my opinion. They could go West Texas or San Antonio area, but I doubt it.

When it comes to the media and President Trump, there are no accidents. He knows them better then they know themselves, and has played them since his apprentice days. How they have not figured it out (or have they?....) is testament to their arrogance.

Regarding Canada, there is absolutely nothing Canada can do. Nothing. Canada has always remained quiet and the US left us alone. They allowed Canada to grow its economy and play with socialism because of our mineral wealth and vast, empty country. But now our minerals are trapped, our resources blockaded, and our government has gone pink.

In a time of negotiation, Trudeau brings "Feminism, equality and environmentalism" to the negotiation table when dealing with auto parts, Windsor and Oshawa vehicles, 300% tariffs on dairy and unfair logging practices. This is called negotiating in bad faith. This is why Trump hates Trudeau, even without the double cross and back stabbing.

Funny how felons and student loans can be interchangeable. Not to turn this thread into a "is college worth it" thread but if the MAGA Republicans are smart they would make a generation Republican if they found a way to discharge student loans. My suggestion would be universities would get their endowments taxed or declare bankruptcy and sell their assets off to the government. In the latter scenario no more Berkelys, Depauls, or U of Mizz's. WIN WIN WIN power play waiting for the Republican party. Take this layup guys you can do it!

Frame it as struggling citizens getting those late at night calls from the nasty banks/lenders. The college admin partying in his BMW while the struggling post grad subsides on McDonalds. The struggling student that is posting memes on 4chan and can amount to more. Come on GOP you got this!

Quote:A call from the head of the California Democratic Party to boycott In-N-Out Burger over its $25,000 donation to the GOP, appears to have backfired rather spectacularly according to the Los Angeles Times.

Take Anthony Grigore, a true-blue Democrat. But as he waited Thursday at an In-N-Out Burger in El Segundo for his meal, Grigore made it clear party loyalty would only go so far.

Just hours earlier, the head of the California Democratic Party called for a boycott of the famed burger chain after a public filing revealed that the company had recently donated $25,000 to the state’s Republican Party.

"Eating at In-N-Out is such a standard thing to do across California," Grigore told the LA Times dismissing the boycott idea as a bit silly.

They called for a boycott and it blew up in their faces.

The in-n-out burger boycott is hugely backfiring in So Cal. Everybody is making fun of it. It's like boycotting surfing.

Step by step, the left wing loses ground. Trump doesn't have to do anything except just accept the converts that come trickling in.
