The owners are generally sheltered, old, and out of touch.

Even the younger ones like Dan Snyder surround themselves with yes men.

While he's incredibly blue pilled, Bill Simmons frequently mentions that the NBA is much more innovative than the NFL since its owners tend to be younger successful entrepreneurs, and not old money.

In addition, the NFL has been such a money making juggernaut the last 25 years*, that they have not needed to listen to anyone while becoming one of the few remaining cultural institutions that Americans have in common. That's pretty much the perfect corporate petri dish for SJWs to infect.

Some of the broskis in my local area are feeling thankful to have their Sundays back for the most part. They're very tired of all the political crap. Besides, most of the teams suck ass after the initial buzz of the season starts to wear off anyway (especially up here in the NFC North.......I'm looking at you Detroit Lions & Chicago Bears).

R.I.P Derrius Guice's 2018 Rookie Season. Torn ACL in pre-season game. Redskins are already having trouble selling tickets to games (gotta have that thread tie-in) and just lost their most exciting player for the year. Gonna be a sad year for the 'Skins.

Guice would have been a 1st round pick but fell to 59th after concerns he was lazy and had some character issues. Was set up for a great season behind a solid line in Washington.

His dad got shot and killed at a Denny's in '03 when Guice was 5. Ended up living with a white family like in The Blind Side. He even got asked at the draft if his mom, "sells herself" and if he, "liked men".

Possibly the next Marshawn Lynch, the next Beast Mode, running angry, throwing stiff-arms, running through guys, so hard to take him down.

They are not blind. The truth is there is only so many men in America and as the soyboys start to grow in numbers and as football participants drops in numbera there is a visible path to contraction of your core market.

Less than a month away till the season starts and I'm curious like most on this thread, how much of a decrease in revenue will they take a hit.

Of course the loss of revenue for concessions, parking, jerseys, security, sales for Sunday ticket etc on top of game and seat license sales.
My prediction, it will be sufficient enough for the owners to hold an emergency meeting. Of course, the media will blame trump for his divisive rhetoric or his sensitivity for not getting a franchise etc etc etc. Then the apologist for the protestors will say ohhh they need to wear pink for breast cancer awareness or salute the troops on certain games and how the incarcerated are what 60% black ..... all of these issues are important as a society as we are all directly and indirectly involved be it with policies, personal relationships or an increase in taxes to pay for the shared costs of society.

How many people are diehard fans and have the money to purchase season tickets, seat licenses and the extra costs that go with attending a game who support the protestors kneeling during the anthem? I don't see women lining up to buy tickets. Antifa 150 lb 5ft 8 tough guys either. BLM supporters?

I predict kaepernick is going to write a book titled cleverly ie black sheep, scapegoat something along those lines. Unless he lands a job.

In the end, the money lost will force the players to comply. Not necessarily from above, but in the locker room where future contracts will be less and players will blame teammates for affecting the bottom line.

I kind of want the NFL to die.... I don't keep up with sports like I used to, teams used to be dynasties... now superstars change teams every year. The NFL has just been rubbing me the wrong way for awhile now... the fucking catch rule is such a buzz kill, refs fucking up critical plays that change the outcome of the game is super frustrating, adding male cheerleaders is a slap in the face, penalizing players for taunting or celebrating, the holier than thou players protesting "police violence against blacks" while never mentioning a word about the rate at which blacks kill themselves (please dont take my facts as me being racist), the NFL latching on to social justice causes, the pink breast cancer month with no month dedicated to mens issues ... I could go on.

Maybe I'm just a old bitter jaded guy but I miss the NFL of old and don't want to see this new NFL prosper

DirecTV is now offering refunds for offended fans.

Apparently, this is unprecedented. DirecTV has had a long policy of never giving refunds for Sunday Ticket.

While there are no numbers released, this news implies that one of the NFL's main revenue sources and indicator of core fandom (casual fans do not pay hundreds of dollars a year just to watch their favorite teams) is in serious trouble.

CTE is real, and there's hard evidence showing it's physical effects on the structure of the brain. What I'm not convinced of is the supposed mental and emotional deterioration it's believed to cause. I read somewhere the doctors and researchers claim that being exposed to hard hits for even a relatively short period of time can cause CTE.

But if CTE legitimately caused a complete mental decline then who knows how many millions of American men who have played tackle football have CTE, and hence be at risk for a Junior Seau type breakdown leading to suicide.

Personally, I started playing tackle football at age 8 and played every year afterwards until my last year of high school for a total of nine seasons. If researchers are correct I may very well have CTE. But like I said above, so would every American man who played Pop Warner, Junior All-American and High School ball, not even to mention college and the pros. So if CTE was as terrible as they make it out to be, the United States would have an epidemic of men suffering from CTE related breakdowns.

And it doesn't help that the media blows it up when they find CTE in a dead former pro. I remember they found "Stage 3 CTE" in Ken Stabler's brain after he died, and used it to show how real CTE is. But Stabler died at 69 from colon cancer and there was no evidence or reports from his family that Stabler was suffering from any mental or emotional deterioration before his death. So there's no indication that having stage 3 or stage 2 CTE has any negative effects whatsoever.

And not to sound too harsh but I think CTE is used by family and friends of dead former pros who have supposedly died from CTE, as a way to gloss over real problems that these players were likely going through such as depression or addiction that plagued them in their final years.

I think less of the backlash regarding CTE and NFL players will be with those type of cases and more with beloved figures like Brett Favre. No doubt many fans will see their hero deteriorating and decide not to put their sons in football:
