Ariel Helwani's last MMA hour show before he joins ESPN. Skip towards the end where he is talking to Urijah Faber as his first and last guest. Great history and stories of the early days.

Put a little bet on Stipe and DC going over 3.5 rounds.

You want to know the only thing you can assume about a broken down old man? It's that he's a survivor.

Did. Not. Expect. That... Goes 5 rounds with Gus. Can't do anything to Silva on a days notice. Knocks out one of the UFC's best HW's ever in a round.

Congrats to DC, the new heavyweight champion.

Ngannou VS Lewis was an atrocity.

Heaps of strangeness around 226: Holloway's tragedy, Ngannou VS Lewis non-fight, main event upset and that Lesnar circus to close the night. All I'm saying is... look into it Big Grin

At least the Felder/Perry fight was good. And I hope Stipe comes back with a vengeance but till then, I'm rooting for Blaydes to thrash the whole division

In hindsight, they should have just played the weigh-in instead of the fight. They weren't even engaged enough to throw jabs. As Rogan said, "That's one of the worst...no, it's the worst heavyweight fight I've ever seen."

Surprised by DC upsetting Stipe. Cormier just packs a punch and landed one. It's amazing to see a guy that much shorter in height and reach to be the heavyweight champ.

It's funny at heavyweight watching that fight, that you're watching two great D1 college wrestlers. At any moment they could shoot a double on ya or hip throw you across the cage.

As for Brock at the end, I liked it even though it was cheesy. As long as the fighting is real, I'm fine with showmanship.

“Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.”

On Monday's MMA Hour - Dominic Cruz was on the show and he broke down DC's and Stipe's fight on how and why he won. He also broke down why he isn't as effective against Jon Jones (kicking) - Stipe does not utilize enough kicking to slow DC down. Why gecko wrestling only helps at the top end (heavy) divisions. Crazy insights.

One of my goals in life to become a real-life energy combat master and then challenge MMA fighters to a duel:

Especially funny is the guy fighting the Muay-Thai master.

RE: Any of you guys MMA fans?
I wonder how much better DC's win against Stipe makes Jon Jones look. The criticism I have seen thrown around is that Jones is not brave enough to fight at heavyweight and wants to stay at LHW where his size and reach put him above and beyond most fighters. Outside of DC, the only other time I saw Jones struggle was against Gus who was around the same height as him.

Now I am legitimately starting to believe that Jon Jones could not only win his belt back at LHW once he comes back but can also be the HW champ. I cannot think of a fighter in the UFC who could win against DC or Jones, those two are head and shoulders above everyone else.

The sport seriously needs another young big name talent breaking into the LHW or HW division.

RE: Any of you guys MMA fans?
The difference if Jones and DC were to fight at HW is DC now has knock out power where he didnt have at LHW. Interesting to see how it would play out. Question is what is Jones like at HW...

DC would have a better chance at HW I feel but as the competitor he is, I doubt he would have the fight anything else but LHW for his legacy and to rid the rivalry, get back his losses.

I'm hoping Blaydes can come and clean out the division. He's the only new heavyweight worth a damn. Francis is a joke.

I will be checking my PMs weekly, so you can catch me there. I will not be posting.

That social media feud is hilarious. Ego running amok on both sides making grown men act like pre-school kids.

Also, threatening to air another man's dirty laundry is a bitch move. Interesting case study that a big ex-fighter guy like Schaub (presumably alpha-leaning due to the environment) would resort to a soap opera tactic.

The Diaz brothers are entertaining for sure...but I don't know if you can believe most of what they say or not. Seems like they are always making a thousand excuses for everything.

I had Cody winning last night due to his amazing boxing... and DAMN was I wrong! TJ Snake-Killashaw is a straight up Killa. He might be the most well Rounded fighter in the Game. And shit I feel just a tad sad for Garbrandt. Phenomenal fighter that has everything... except a Chin!

The more I think about his reaction... I think the UFC tricked him by lying about Conor. Either they told him Conor was unavailable & it's time for you to fight... or that Conor would Main Event his UFC 230 PPV with him getting a cut.

Yeah the Diaz are a bit loonies sometimes... but they're not irrational! He was obviously sitting on his Conor trilogy fight... and I doubt he would fight someone else of he knew Conor was on UFC 229. Either way... I hope he makes it. Sadly I think a loss to Poirier will void his trilogy fight.

The Blueprint to beat Nate is out there... and I think Dustin will execute it for the W

RE: Any of you guys MMA fans?
Who do you think would win in a fair MMA fight?

Bruce Lee in prime vs Muhammed Ali in his prime?

-----------

My take:

Ali would win under normal rules - Bruce's chances are a very very lucky kick to Ali's chin, but he won't have the size necessary.

In a no-holds barred street fight the chances of Lee go up, because Bruce could hit balls, kneecaps etc.

When weapons, sticks etc are added, then Bruce Lee gets the upper hand.

Either way - the size differential would be simply too big in an MMA fight.

Firstly, Bruce was an actor.

Secondly, Bruce was tiny and Ali one of the greatest heavyweight boxers to have ever lived.

I'm 6'4 so a big guy. Martial Arts (specifically Muay Thai)is my hobby, my industry and I consider myself pretty decent and pretty knowledgable on the subject. I'm also in my late 30s. So I'm a little bigger than Ali but not black. Or in my 20s.

Even as late as earlier this year I have sparred with some of the greatest Muay Thai fighters that are still alive and active. They're a similar size to Bruce Lee. Crucially, they're also still actual fighters with hundreds of real fights under their belts, not actors.

Anyway, I can fuck these little Lumpinee champions up in about 5 seconds if I choose to not stand and exchange one for one shots with them. It's not hard.

At range, I have more power and reach. In the clinch it's like a bear vs a baby.

Ali would pulverise Bruce Lee before the actor even knew what was going on.

I'm not the biggest Till fan but I hope he knocks Woodley into retirement. Woodley can stick around as a commentator but I'm not really a fan of Woodley as a fighter.

The card is pretty weak.... I'm certainly not gonna pay $65 for it
