RE: Is South Africa on the path to becoming the next Zimbabwe?
Nothing particularly prescient about much of this thread. This inevitable conclusion to multicultural South Africa is pretty much uniformly accepted by all minorities in South Africa, and has been the dominant view since the waning of apartheid. However, it's never simply as easy as packing your bags and shipping abroad - and it has become just a whole lot more difficult to emigrate recently.

Unfortunately, this is pretty much exactly what's known as the sunk cost fallacy.
Quote:The sunk cost fallacy is when we continue an action because of our past decisions (time, money, resources) rather than a rational choice of what will maximise our utility at this present time.
Quote:“The sunk cost effect is manifested in a greater tendency to continue an endeavor once an investment in money, effort, or time has been made.”
Quote:The idea that a company or organization is more likely to continue with a project if they have already invested a lot of money, time, or effort in it, even when continuing is not the best thing to do.
Quote:This fallacy, which is related to status quo bias, can also be viewed as bias resulting from an ongoing commitment.
Quote:The Misconception: You make rational decisions based on the future value of objects, investments and experiences. The Truth: Your decisions are tainted by the emotional investments you accumulate, and the more you invest in something the harder it becomes to abandon it.
Quote:The sunk cost effect is the tendency for humans to continue investing in something that clearly isn't working. Because it is human nature to want to avoid failure, people will often continue spending time, effort or money to try and fix what isn't working instead of cutting their losses and moving on.

RE: Is South Africa on the path to becoming the next Zimbabwe?
The sunk cost fallacy is hard to fathom with your own home and country where your family has been living for centuries.
Still - you have to disengage yourself from it and realize that successful tribes and people understand when it is more advantageous to fight and stay vs move on. Often in history - you can take a very good look at it - it was somewhat good to stay so long as your country was conquered, but you were still the same tribe and people remaining. (Andalusia/Spain, Hungary during various conquests, Vienna at the Ottoman attacks, Charles Martel)
In other cases your country was irrevocably lost and you were better advised to move on and create a new legacy somewhere else. SA is exacerbated by the fact that the dominating/main country-creating tribe is a stark minority. That means that the country is standing on shaky legs. In reality it has stopped to be the country of White South Africans no matter whether some retain their wealth. You are a hated despised minority and you could just as well move and live in Nigeria.

RE: Is South Africa on the path to becoming the next Zimbabwe?
South Africa is equivalent to the historical Egypt of the Roman times.
Egypt was always ruled by a White minority ever since Alexander the Great at least, presiding over a large slave class of famers along the Nile. It was one of the richest, if not the richest, province in Rome, with Alexandria being of the richest places in the world.
Fast forward to 800 AD, it is completely overrun by Muslims, never to be recovered again. It's wealth, prestige, and booming economy are ruined, never to return. It was the first major loss of the ancient Romans (we know them as Byzantines today) to the Muslim invasions that would mark another 500 years of decline. Even though Egypt has never been recovered (and no one actually wants to), the Christian White world went on to create much bigger and better things and become more powerful than ever before.
The White world isn't going extinct with the loss of South Africa, but not every battle can be won. Live to fight another day, Whites will easily hold onto huge portions of America and Europe no matter how badly things devolve. Get out of the sinking ship of South Africa while it is still possible.

Excellent news:
Russia should help all of the Boers immigrate into Southern Russia. They need farmers and the Boers need a save place to make their home. Watch them become productive Russians within one fucking generation.
Excellent farm land down there.
I wish Western Europe or the U.S. would have the foresight to do this, but of course we instead import hundreds of thousands of lazy ass low IQ welfare recipients.

The leadership in the West is so traiterous it beggars belief. Imagine that the Afrikaners have to go to Russia to escape, while we take in those to persecute them.

This is a problem why? If China somehow manages to civilise a continent with a collective IQ somewhere in the 80s, especially where plenty of people have come, been swamped in the African quagmire, and gone the fuck home, good luck to them. Africa just isn't worth it. It's a dull, racist, tribal cesspool that needs another good three centuries or more in educational enrichment before there's any prospect of any Kangs of Wakanda coming out of it. If multiple rich European powers -- all of which were much closer than China -- couldn't make the place work, why would the Chinese do any better, seriously?
Not to mention that at present demographic rates, by the time China and Europe get around to fighting each other the only Caucasians left north of the Mediterranean will be the mountain range. And if indeed there's any white folk left, it'll be hilarious to sit back in the Americas, Russia, and Australia with popcorn in hand and watch Ming and Mohammed bleed each other.

RE: Is South Africa on the path to becoming the next Zimbabwe?
Africa has definitely been mismanaged. Domestic politicians sold too many valuable ressources to foreign firms for what they considered good money for their personal bank accounts, but which obviously did not contribute to any kind of sustainable economic growth. They haven't taken the time to sort out the basics like health services and education and will continue to be among the worst in those areas. A lot of their population isn't even registered, has no access to clean drinking water or food or electricity etc. As far as laziness and stagnation their people and politicians can be compared to Italians, however, Italy already has the basics sorted out and then some, so it's ok, if they're content.
They need a complete and radical overhaul. Chasing out white farmers is radical, but not exactly the type of change they need. They will now further accelerate the processes like widespread racism and of course braindrain in a country like South Africa. Seeing that Mandela was the only one they were willing to listen, they would have needed another 150 years of prime Nelson Mandela to scratch the surface of their potential. With him gone it's essentially pandemonium in the parliament.

Quote:It is said that Heraclius, the Byzantine emperor, collected a large army at Constantinople. He intended to march at the head of these reinforcements personally to Alexandria. But before he could finalize the arrangements, he died. The troops mustered at Constantinople dispersed, and consequently no help came to Alexandria. This further demoralized the Byzantines. The siege dragged on for six months, and in Madinah 'Umar got impatient. In a letter addressed to 'Amr, the caliph expressed his concern at the inordinate delay in the invasion of Egypt. He further instructed that the new field commander would be 'Ubaidah, and he would launch an assault on the fort of Alexandria. 'Ubaidah's assault was successful and Alexandria was captured by the Muslims in September 641. Thousands of Byzantine soldiers were killed or taken captive while others managed to flee to Constantinople on ships that had been anchored in the port. Some wealthy traders also left.
Just like our incompetent and treasonous leaders are destroying our civilizations from the inside, so too it was the same back in the days of initial conquest of Islam. The army created to support Alexandria never arrived, because the Emperor foolishly tried to lead a campaign while being too old, and most likely his immediate successors and advisors were too greedy fighting for the throne than to make sure the army reached Alexandria.
It was fabulously wealthy, lost forever:
Quote:On behalf of the Egyptians, Cyrus of Alexandria sued for peace, and his request was granted. After the conquest of Egypt, 'Amr is reported to have written to Caliph 'Umar:
“ We have conquered Alexandria. In this city there are 4,000 palaces, 400 places of entertainment, and untold wealth. ”
The permanent loss of Egypt meant a loss of a huge amount of Byzantium's food and money. The loss of Egypt and Syria, followed later by the invasion of the Exarchate of Africa also meant that the Mediterranean, long referred to as the "Roman lake", was now contested between two powers: the Muslim Caliphate and the Byzantine Empire. In these events, the Byzantine Empire, although sorely tested, would be able to hold on to Anatolia, while the walls of Constantinople would save it during two great Arab sieges, from the fate of the Persian Empire.[25]
An attempt was made in the year 645 to regain Alexandria for the Byzantine Empire, but it was retaken by 'Amr in 646. In 654 an invasion fleet sent by Constans II was repulsed. From that time no serious effort was made by the Byzantines to regain possession of the country.
Like a locust plague, the Muslims devoured Egypt, and have been on the hunt for more ever since.

It's a good move by Russia. The area they settle them in is good for agriculture, but also beset by a significant Muslim contingent. Strategically Russia is thus winning on both fronts - getting productive White South Africans who will be more Russian within 1-2 generations while at the same time building a better block against future Muslim conquest.
When the first 15.000 are successful, then others might follow after them.

If you think they'll 'assimilate' in to Russian culture then you simply haven't spent enough time with Afrikaners. Sure, they won't cause problems like, ahem, certain groups but they aren't going to be speaking Russian and going to Orthodox Churches. They will continue to speak Afrikaans and stick to their Calvinism. Believe me, I have spent time in South Africa and can speak decent Afrikaans.
There really is a lot of nonsense being peddled on this thread. Most Afrikaners regard South Africa as being their homeland. They simply aren't going to 'move back to Europe', the situation is eventually going to escalate if the likes of Malema get their way and I would bet that to avoid a full scale war (remember, there are over 4 million whites in South Africa), there will be a de facto white homeland. But that's still quite a way off.

I don't speak Africaans and have never been to South Africa. Thus I don't claim to be the expert on the subject and I'm only reporting what I see happening given the information I have available. Now if you're the expert then I would love to see more insightful contributions on your part, perhaps you can enlighten the rest of us.
One more thought: I recently watched Farmlands produced by Lauren Southern. My take away was that there are surely farmers who consider S. Africa as their ancestral homeland but there appear to be also many others who live in abject poverty and would jump at the chance to leave. It's what they said in front of the camera.
Now since you were alluding to my comment regarding Afrikaners integrating well in Russian society being bullshit. Yeah, totally possible and I was talking off the cuff without much knowledge on the subject. That was my hope but per your comments I concede that there may be a cultural hurdle that would be difficult to overcome. For one though they aren't black, so the odds of them getting jumped in the street may be greatly reduced ;-)

Bring some Afrikaans to Africa and they will remain Afrikaans forever - what should they integrate into there?
Move them to the Netherlands and they will be more Dutch than the current Dutch.
Bring them to Russia and it will take a while or they stay Afrikaans - the Russians can live with that easily. The country was always so wide-spread that the different disparate tribes had the freedom to remain theirs so long as they are loyal to Mother Russia.
The Afrikaans stayed apart due to the rural nature and being surrounded by historically hostile to them Brits as well as Africans. That won't be an issue with the Russians.
Some will come, the rest will want to fight in their ancestral home.

Hundreds of thousands of Volga Germans lived in Russia, many later emigrated to the US - 100.000 at least. Others later moved to Germany in the early 1990s. I met some of those Russian Germans back in the day - they were more Russian than German in culture, but integrated quickly in Germany.
The cultures are quite different - the genetics not that much. Also they co-existed easily enough. The Afrikaans would be a good contribution. Though it speaks to the treason of the Dutch or other Western European nations to not open their borders to those ancient Europeans. Only Australia or Russia have made some overtures.

It may be that we are just getting confused with each other's choice of words. I do not disagree that Afrikaner farmers would become productive 'Russians' almost instantly.
But they would not become 'Russians'. Their ethnicity, their language, and their religion are all different. They are a very proud people, they aren't going to forget 400 years of history that has led to them being Afrikaners.
Russia might get a decent rugby team out of it too.

I'm an Afrikaner. I have met alot of colleaugues/randoms born to South African parents in Australia and New zealand.
They are indistinguishable from the locals, I wouldn't have known if they didnt tell me.
This is a double edged sword, being good in being able to fit in and assimilate, bad in that it will ultimately lead to the death of the language/culture.
I think the farmers will fit in well in Russia, most have a serious, utilitarian outlook on life that I would imagine will be understood by rural Russians.

Your response actually made me think that there is a bigger tragedy at play here. If I'm let's say Spanish and happen to be communist in the 1930s then I may end up leaving Spain but would be able to return in the 1970s after Franco nipples off. My culture, my people, are still there and although I may not agree politically at least my progeny may be able to make its own decisions and rejoin its ancestry.
There won't be any such opportunity for Afrikaners, once they leave SA they are effectively handing the entire country over to hostile tribes who hate them and will probably continue to hate them for decades or even centuries. I can only imagine how I would feel being forced to give up my country under such conditions.
This is how Lebanese Christians must have felt and how most likely native Swedes, Germans, and French will feel a few decades from now.
Got a little chuckle out of the rugby reference, nice one ;-)

The Portuguese government is currently saying we will need immigrants to populate our very depopulated interior (also very arable). I wish those cucks would look at the Boer situation. Not that they would ever want to come here massively but a few dozen thousand would be great. Instead they will bring in trash, I just know it. And then act surprised it didn't work out well. Even with all the massive tax cuts they will give to those moving there. In Venezuela and South Africa there is a significant Portuguese diaspora that the government makes no effort to bring back either. Disgusting.
