Glad you liked it. I'm not a hipster myself but the hipster atmosphere of the building really vibes well with the city. I actually got my Dutch flag thanks to staying there- she was an art history student well into hipster shit and once I mentioned I stayed there she was like "wow just been there to drink, never seen the inside, how are the rooms like?" 2 minutes later we were on the way back to my place.

I lived in Amsterdam until 2015, I was living in the center and the majority of women were white, with a proportion of surinamese, indonesian and moroccan chicks. I have seen very few halal restaurants and a few arabs/turks, the ones I have seen were mainly taxis.

There are some neighborhoods with a lot of moroccan immigrants but they are usually outside the ring (not in the center) I doubt that the city has been transformed in 3 years.

Amsterdam is very beautiful and has at the same time a romantic and a wild vibe. You can go with your gf, rent a small boat on the canals and have a picnic with her with a bottle of wine or take her to a nice restaurant. You can also explore the countless coffeeshops and taste some award winning sorts of weed, hang out in the red light district, it is always fun even if you don’t do P4P (never done).

@people who never been there, I highly recommend you to go, it is really a fun city for a short trip.

In any case to clarify, besides the people working at the kebab shops and late night food places, most of the Arabs in the center of Amsterdam are all tourists, and there are a good amount of them.

In general the center of Amsterdam is an absolute shithole, attracting the worst and most annoying types of tourists- packs of British stags, tracksuit-wearing Italians and Eastern-euros, most of them attracted to the idea of Amsterdam being some kind of debaucherous amusement park with a relatively charming European exterior. I generally try to avoid the entire center (up until the first ring of canals or so) unless I have to, and find it to be a universally unpleasant experience to have to be amongst the throngs of generally obnoxious Ryanair tourists and others.

There are a couple of cool, much more chilled-out neighbourhoods that are far enough from the center that the worst of the tourists barely venture there: De Pijp, Jordaan, Plantage all offer a much more 'authentic' experience of what I believe Amsterdam to be about (especially in summer)- nice parks, trees, canals, plenty of cool cafés to enjoy a nice cold beer at, restaurants, all in a very architecturally charming and walkable setting, and no loud and fucked-up eurotrash tourists stumbling about. In general I wouldn't recommend Amsterdam for girls- you have a disadvantage with Dutch girls as a foreigner (especially as a tourist) due to being associated with the shitty tourists we have here on average, and I'd guess that enough Dutch girls have been pumped and dumped by visiting foreigners in the many decades of tourism the city has had that they are generally not so interested in people there for the very short-term. Also not a fan of Amsterdam girl attitudes in general, and the strong influence of hipsterism and 'being alternative' on a lot of them.

As a tourist just focus on the hostel crowd- travelling girls are 100% there just to have fun and have an 'adventure', and often the idea of Amsterdam as being some haven of sex and debauchery can easily be used to your advantage.

If it's Dutch girls you're looking for and not tourists I'd easily recommend a city like Utrecht over Amsterdam, any day. First of all it's an extremely charming city in terms of aesthetic and ambiance, with a classic Dutch, walkable city structure and a more unique canal running through its center. More importantly it has a high university population relative to the population of the city, and gender ratios skewed very much much in favor of guys. Legit, I see more cuties walking through the Utrecht central station for 5 minutes than I'd see in a week in my shithole engineering city. In comparison to Amsterdam, where people are generally much less interested in others due to the extremely high tourist influx, I get significantly more attention, eye-contact, and friendly reception from girls in Utrecht (pity I'm not so much into Dutchies).

I'm not much of a clubbing guy but I know there are plenty of options in Utrecht, and it has a pretty lively bar scene given all the students, where the girls are in general significantly more receptive and easy to approach compared to other cities where the gender ratios are less favorable to guys.

100% true. The most trashy area is without a doubt around the central station, each friday night it was invaded by groups of low class italians in tracksuits and nike air max harassing girls and randomly asking people where the prostitutes are.

The Pijp is indeed one of the nicest neighborhoods, it doesn’t have hookers nor nightclubs and very few coffeeshops so fortunately the trashy tourists don’t go there...actually when I think about it I think on the way between the Pijp and museumplein there is a mini red light district with a few girls working.

Jordaan is also nice but I found it a bit snobbish, rich locals and expats live there, the crowd in the Pijp is more laid back, at least that was my percepton. I did the mistake to live in the very center the first year and it was exactly as thebassist described it, the worst for me was during Queen’s day (which is now king’s day), Amsterdam center is very small and during that day it was apocalyptic, I was leaving the country each year that day. If you like being shitfaced to death and being suffocating in the middle of thousands of 6ft3+ guys, all drunk and jumping everywhere then you would enjoy it.

When I left Amsterdam more and more people were going to live in Amsterdam Noord, it’s the part of the city that you reach with a ferry from behind the central station, apparently rents were lower there and more flats were available (housing is a problem in Amsterdam), but that part of the city was ugly and boring.

I am also not a clubber but I remember that bar in Leidseplein, I think it is called « the players » or something like that, I went a few times with a friend and there were often stunners there, literally what some of you would classify a 9 or 10, tall blondes model looking, lot of attitudes though, apparently football players of the Ajax go there so you probably find high maintenance gold diggers there.

A problem expats often face in Amsterdam is no matter how long you live there you are always labelled as a tourist and it comes with a negative stigma, I found it extremely difficult to connect with locals and was hanging out with other expats because of that.

Damnit I was there last weekend and not this weekend.

Lino and Justin seem spot on to me. I stay out of Rotterdam and Amsterdam now, although I still like Rotterdam. Ive setup shop for now in Breda and am trying to see how viable the city is since it has super central nightlife and relatively few black or even arab guys in clubs. I may the only one or 1 of 3 in the whole spot. So far Tinder has yielded a fair amount of matches but nothing panned out so far.
Utrecht is on the list as well as Maastricht since I am not far from there at all.

I have one planned for the first weekend of August in Roermond. It is called Solar Weekend. The festival takes place by a lake called Maasplassen. Do stay at the camping if you wanna collect notches. This is going to be my third time and man, I have had such a blast there the last years. It gets around 10-15k visitors. The quality of women is pretty good. Egyptian immigrants are very large in Europe. Egyptians have an seriousness in business, especially in small businesses. Such as grocery stores and kebab resturant.
The big surprise for me as a Tourist is what I saw in all the Italian cities.
Too many restaurants selling pizza(pizzeria) are owned and operated by Egyptians
The customers waiting for orders in the queue are Italians
I felt sad for them. How the foreigns make a pizza for Italian in Italy !

I think Egyptians like the Chinese (smart) they exploit the laziness of some people and their inability to work for extra hours. They simply fill the gap.
