Interesting perspective. But on the flip a lot of guys here are location independent. If that's the case and your RP'd, with the political and cultural situations in Western countries pretty much everything is better in developing countries IMO.

Here are my options:

UK : Russia

Average house price about - $270,000 : $50,000
Average salary (I'm paying) - $37,000 : $5,000
Good restaurant (2) - $80 : $20
Taxi - $70 (no Uber) : $7
Weekly food - $70 : $30

And importantly the women:

UK: great difficulty in getting interest from an entitled, social media addled 7 who needs to hit the gym
RU: fairly easy to get interest from a feminine 8 who take great effort in their appearance

People often complain of a few issues like shabby buildings, having to integrate and learn the language, not being able to drink the tap water. But that's part of the journey. First time I lived in a low-income country for the first month it was like, "Why did I come here?" Then it's just normal. the only real difference for me living in Russia has been having to fill up a few water bottles each day from a dispenser.

As for the people you know with ideas. That's all they are. Most businesses fail. Plenty of Chinese in Africa and elsewhere rolling out successful businesses because they have ideas that work. Most of America was the wild west: summary justice, people getting strung up from trees, prostitution, killer animals, wild Indians ... and within a generation major cities popped up.

I just looked at your profile. You are living in Russia on less than $1,500 a month. I assume that you do not live in Moscow on that budget. So, where do you live (i.e., the largest metro area near you, if you wish to maintain some privacy)? I looked for a thread, but did not see one. Thanks.

Most people I meet on this forum never expatriated. I have not had one high repped member on this forum anywhere other than the USA or Western Europe meet me in EE or Southern Europe. My PM box is filled with middle eastern guys or new members that do not post much wanting to show them around Khrakov.

Let's get real here, some people are just dreaming or going on holiday.

Just got my Colombian residency visa....it is valid for 5 years....Don't know if I will be here another 5 years but if I do I can apply for a Colombian citizenship (Obtain a Passport..after those 5 years) and still maintain dual citizenship with the USA.

The biggest perks would be once you become a dual citizen with Colombian citizenship, you will no longer need to deal with visas anymore. Also, you will be able to travel to some counties as a Colombian citizen without a visa such as Russia and Brazil, which require a visa for U.S. citizens. Lots of upside in my opinion!

I'm in a similar situation. Most the people I've met are digital nomads or on vacations. They haven't settled down anywhere really in EE.

All the dudes I've met are really low rep, low post. I've not met a single high rep member in Belgrade despite being here over 40 days now.

I'm starting to think some people are full of bullshit.

What's your definition of a high repped member? I have about 20 reps now but when I first started traveling around Asia, I had none. This is how people get reps. They meet people and higher repped members take a bit of a chance if the rookie posts the right way. It happened with me, I got a handful of reps immediately in the Philippines.

Honestly, I'm usually the lower repped person in all of my meetups with RVF guys. Not a lot of lower repped guys really ask me. I think the lowest I've met up with has about 15, but the average is usually around 50.

I'd say high repped, could start at 10, 20, or 50, depending on how you look at it, or, people that have met some members already IRL.

When I got here I think i was around 8 reps or so, maybe 10. Everyone I met either had zero reps, a really new account, or fewer than 5 reps. I still haven't met anyone higher repped than me so far.

Also, most the noobs haven't repped me back, maybe they're not aware of repping etiquette. I think I've met 9 or 10 guys in the past 40 days in Belgrade.

It could just be Belgrade and your region of the world. It's highly possible that less higher repped members make it out there. I was in Manila when I first met some members and none of them had less than 20. But yet, SEA is very well connected for RVF members. There's a good circle out there that usually has at least a few guys hanging around each major city. Belgrade may not be on the map like that yet in the RVF community. Also, I'm from the US so I meet some guys in my local home base too. There seems to be a decent amount hanging around here too, but the common thing both of these areas have are that they're densely populated and more well known.

Yeah, sounds about right. Belgrade is not on the map, but I think the Project Belgrade thread has brought a lot of people that were otherwise on the fence over here to Belgrade... Maybe that's why they're all relatively new members.

What is the point of settling down in EE? You either have two options.

Option one work in a cooperate environment somewhere in EE and make 30% of the salary u could make in Western Europe (Poland might be better but still worse than Western Europe)

Option two setup your own business in EE. This can work if you setup a business with caters to Western European or US clients like a digital marketing agency or something similar. Still you have to deal a lot with EE working mentality and bureaucracy. Still something this could be done however usually the bigger digital businesses in EE are usually run by locals who can deal much better with everything since its their home countries. Opening a restaurant or something similar? Dangerous thing for a foreigner. You would not want to deal with the Balkan mafia.

This leaves you with one more option. Running a location independent business which pays you a western salary. The perfect solution. You can live like a king in EE on a few Thousand Dollars a month. And whats there is no point in staying in EE between November and March so why should someone stay long term in a city for a miserable winter.

The reason why you don´t meet high rep members in Belgrade is the fact that many of these members have been there before but left after a couple of weeks once they found out that there are much better opportunities in EE mostly for girls but also for having fun. If you come to Ukraine, Colombia or SEA where the pastures are greener you will meet much more high rep members.

I like it actually, not too many tourists, and Belgrade is a fun city.

I wouldn't over-exaggerate the mafia, you can market your business to people not in the country.

People on the forum seem to have a problem with belgrade and are here short-term. I have no issue with that, more fun for me.

Some high repped members have had too many bad experiences meeting new people also. I used to scoff at their complaints but after a couple of bad ones myself I no longer blame them
