Orthodontic Braces And Game
A while back I had a tooth removed. At the time my dentist told me I would need to have an implant placed in it but since it was a tooth that was further back in my mouth and not so visible I kind of put it off and never had the implant. Stupidity.

Anyway my teeth started to shift and some gaps started appearing. So y I recently had an appointment with my dentist and he has told me I need braces applying to my upper teeth to move things back into place and then have the implant placed. I'll need them for about 6 months so it's not a major issue when you think that some people have them for 2 years but I was just wondering if anyone else has had them fitted as an adult and can share their experience.

If I was a teenager I would not give a shit but I'm 37! To me a chap in his 30's with braces just looks bloody odd and I'm not sure how this will impact on getting laid over the next 6 months. I'm getting them fitted next week.

Reassurances will be most welcome.

Yes, investigate invisalign. You can take the trays when need be.

Dude, i'm wrestling my thoughts about this for years now. I'm 35 and was too proud/self conscious/vain to do it when i was younger. My parents wanted me to have braces but i kept it off. Now i look at most young people in envy of their nice teeth.

Props for you for getting it over with.

Cheers for the replies guys.

I investigated Invisalign but it costs twice as much and takes longer then the Damon system I will have.

Neil: I hear you brother. Been putting this off for a long time. Go for it dude,I'm sure the years of pleasure your new smile will give you will be worth the short term pain. I'm hoping so anyway.

Invisalign. With the current economy I'm sure there is an orthodontist who will set up a payment plan with you. I got braces at 12yo and ran a paper route to pay for it. One of the best decisions ever, because I'm blessed with a smile so good I get opened from girls occasionally because of it. Before the braces could have filled in for Sharkboy because of all the damn extra teeth in my mouth: thanks Dad. Do what you have to do, get on your hustle and get invisalign.

You could get lingual braces instead, they're behind the teeth.

Hi Vorkuta,
I have clear braces for almost 2 years now..i am 30 yrs old..ah..ah.It was my personnal choice(3500euros)as i've always been concern with perfect smile.I will remove them in 2 months. My ortho said to me last year that i don't need it anymore but i decided to carry on with the treatment cos i was looking for perfection.IT IS DEFINETLY A GOOD LIFE INVESTMENT!My theeth now are straight, big and perfectly lined up.I couldn't wish better than the actual result. If you decide to wear clear braces then they'll be hardly noticeable.Otherwise you can choose the lingual option(braces behind the teeth)but i won't recommand it.
Invasilign??your teeth won't move as fast as with normal braces and you'll be limited to only straight teeth that's for sure. The advantage with normal braces is that you can ask you ortho to adjust your front teeth and canines more pronounced.A perfect smile is one of key success with chicks. If you want a very quick and efficient result you can then go for damon 3 braces but they're not clear braces.

If the conventional method is the cheapest, and takes the least amount of time, then go for it. Just make sure the time frame they're giving you is accurate. Some tell you six months, and before you know it, a year has passed and they're saying you've got six months to go.

From a social perspective, there is one major downside to braces: bad breath. They trap food, and no matter what, you'll never get it all out.

You can get special toothbrushes for that, and make sure you floss at least once a day.

I used transparent braces for 2 and a half years and most of the ladies didn't make much of it.

Great post. Agree with all you said especially about the importance of a perfect smile with the women. Teeth are a way women judge you. Straight white teeth represent health and vitality so I'm sure once my teeth are fixed I will go up a point on the looks scale.

I looked into all the options but went for the Damon system. Paid my deposit now so no chance to back out. I am feeling some trepidation about things such as the pain, getting mouth ulcers for the next six months, just the constant feeling that there is something alien in my mouth and of course if it will knock my confidence with women. However having a perfect smile is really important to me after never really having one to be honest. It got to the point where I would not smile in photos or want people to see my teeth if I laughed. Therefore however bad the next 6-12 months ( dentist said six but I'm preparing myself for longer ) is with those issues I know that at the end of it when my teeth are perfectly straight,my implant is done and I have my veneers fitted I will look in the mirror and it will have been worth the pain and not inconsiderable expense ( total cost for everything will be over $5000 ).

Cheers

Damon is the good option if you want a quick result. The fact is that most women dream of having jessica simpson's teeth and men want Will smith, leo or tom cruise's ones! They just can't take the first step because of stereotype, braces=kido! and they think what people are going to think of me?
It's complete BS because i have a lot of people asking me question about it as they envy me.Most people are well aware of having busted or crooked teeth but decide to live with it cos they think it's to late to change a damn thing.FALSE!

Don't worry about the pain,it's nothing like a decay, you'll just feel tighness.Mouthwash and brush every single day.Carry your tooth brush and small mirror with you all the time!
It will also affect your speech for 2 weeks. That's all!do it seriously and don't skip your every 5 weeks adjustment.(very important).Tell your ortho what result you expect as mine can do miracles.Communication with him/her is the key for perfect smile.Make sure the practice have a good rep!
At the end your confidence will multiply by 100 and you'll feel irresitibleBanana

To all the community:
Unperfect teeth, bad breath could play against your game without you knowing it!Teeth are very very important cos they reflect your image! And chicks check them out at first.Anyone regardless their age shouldn't hesitate a second before making this wise decision.

Check with other dentists. When we were shopping for the braces, invisalign was cheaper than regular braces (too bad they're not a good choice for a kid).

I wonder if that is a trend amongst its citizens.. I once met a guy from Kyrgyzstan 14 years ago when my knowledge of geography was quite limited.

My first surprise was that he was (or looked) Asian. I thought all Asian originated from Asia. He told me he was from Kyrgyzstan.

Second, his bottom grill was entirely gold (like that lizard in your pic). I couldn't stop looking at that shyt.

Damn guys,

I was literally just thinking about this yesterday and today. My dentist mentioned that I might want braces to straighten my teeth some. People have always liked my smile, but I want it to be excellent, and there are some small spaces. It is just going to be something I need to do along this journey of constant improvement.

My biggest problem was that I didn't like the clear braces, but Invisalign looks perfect. It is going to cost some extra cast, but (as women love to say) I'm worth it. I think I'll get it done next year. I'll check out this year what it cost getting the procedure done in Costa Rica. I know a ton of guys who go down there for cosmetic dentistry, and get excellent work at a fraction of the cost.

Tom Cruise sported visible braces a few years back:

I am sure it didn't hurt his game any. If anything maybe you'll realize how little looks really matter for a guy and you'll strengthen the rest of your game. Besides, they come off pretty quick. Go for it.

I’d rather be far right, than far wrong!

RE: Orthodontic Braces And Game
you couldve always got them done abroad, saved a bunch. I have a plastic surgeon buddy in India and when I was going to visit last time I was thinking of having his friend do some dental work for me but I went for a family wedding and the timing never worked out but my friends friend wasnt giving me any special deal or anything but the cost was nearly half of what id pay back home and I was there anyway. Sounds like speed vs cost was the motivating factor in your end decision but if cost kept ya outta invisalign med tourisms somethin to look at.

But yeah you see the gold tooth thing all over the FSU. Used to be a status thing but now is seen as being a backwards thing so many people remove them and replace them with normal teeth coloured ones. My Belarusian LTR's dad had top and bottom in gold. He was so pimp.

RE: Orthodontic Braces And Game
Had them fitted on Monday. Jeez they hurt those first couple of days! I had a panic and just thought I'd never be able to go through 6 months of this, was going to phone up the dentist and tell him to remove them. My cheeks were cut up,they felt massive in my mouth,hurt...but now 3 days later the pain has subsided a lot and I will see this thing through. Because of the gym I eat 6 meals a day which means constant brushing of teeth, can see myself getting through a lot of brushes. I find myself spitting when i talk which is not good but think that will pass when I'm used to them. I did my first approach on the street yesterday just to test my confidence level with them on: no probs. Girl didn't mention them or keep staring at my mouth. I actually have re-framed the braces in my mind to being a DHV in the sense it shows that I am seeking to improving myself.

So yes,to anyone thinking of getting them applied but like me put it off,and off...don't. They ain't that bad! Right, only 173 days to go Banana

Got hooked up w/ free braces for a 2nd round of ortho (6-months) to correct minor problems.

So far, lay rates in America are def. lower.

Asia, especially Thailand, was a different ball-game. There its a status symbol. Some girls in Thailand have brackets and no wire (aka its non-functional braces). Blew me away. These girls would giggle and treat me better when they saw mine. Mindblown...

WIA- For most of men, our time being masters of our own fate, kings in our own castles is short. Even those of us in the game will eventually succumb to ease of servitude rather than deal with the malaise of solitude

RE: Orthodontic Braces And Game
I had braces for a few years when I was in middle school/beginning of high school. Fixed my teeth but now the roots on my bottom row of teeth are dying. My dentist said he sees it a lot with people who had orthodontists who were too aggressive. Means I'll probably lose my bottom row of teeth at some point in the next few years. Do your research and pick a good orthodontist who's aware of all the drawbacks (hint: if they claim there are no drawbacks find someone else). I'd probably not get braces purely for cosmetic reasons. Not worth potentially losing teeth 20 years later. Tight game will do more for you than a few grand worth of metal in your mouth.
