She was living in Los Angeles; her eggs were in San Francisco. Her new clinic called her old clinic and had them shipped south.

“They knew from the minute they opened the package something was wrong,” Fox recalled. A lab tech later showed her the straws in which the eggs were stored, and how they had leaked.

Fox was beyond devastated. But after three years of traditional IVF and fertility treatments with her current eggs, she gave birth to twin boys.

“There’s a happy ending, but with a lot of pain and heartbreak and $100,000 along the way,” she said. “Their grandparents are always asking if I started their college fund. I’m like, ‘The college fund went into creating them.’ ”

Wouldn’t it be better value for everyone if husbands were given the married man premium on top of their salaries to fund the allowances of stay at home mothers who could then make university and career choices once the kids were at school and semi-independent?

Freezing eggs - even with the new techniques - is a failure. Not only does the woman have a dramatically lower chance of successfully carrying the child to term, but the child is likely to have genetic damage.

Does a late 30s, or 40+ year old woman really have the patience and energy to look after a problem child? Of course not, she's lucky to keep up with an unusually calm, well-mannered child.

The practice, while not effective, feeds a woman's self esteem while charging her insurance company (and us) a fortune.

Now she has a child essentially as a surrogate mother - and a single one at that bitter and dejected.

Yup - pretty much what I expected.

The desperation just to have something come out of her body is alarming. There is absolutely no genetic connection to this child. She has burdened herself with the worst part of having a child which is carrying it for 9 months and then the pain of actually having it.

This kid is nothing more than something for her to check off her bucket list and salvage some semblance of having "had it all." This woman needs to be shamed.

Its not going to go away. If you were a business man and people are willing to throw god knows how much $$s at you to get them pregnant, then you better damn well find a way to take those off their hands.

Seriously though, has anyone here researched IVF/fertility products companies? After reading this thread I'm thinking it should be the cornerstone of my "red pill portfolio," along with cat food/pet products, antidepressant pharmaceuticals, and tattoo removal (assuming some sort of patent-able process), just to name a few.

Went through the IVF process with the wife (we were trying for kids for years). All the firms I researched are privately held.

There is money in IVF drugs (until they come off patent). So you might want to research which pharma firm is waiting on pending FDA approval on the next generation of fertility drugs.

I have been saying that this industry is a ATM for consistent money. You are selling women a crude gamble to hedge against nature with no promise. Women pay big money to roll the dice and you still get your money in the end.

My sister spent somewhere ~$100,000 on several rounds of IVF and she finally fell pregnant on what was to be her last attempt.

That kid is now 6 or 7, and although hes so young, I can say with 99% certainty that that kid is (going to be) gay as they come. G. A. Y. After all of that time, money and heartache to propagate their seed, it's now going to die just one step further down the line. Sad.

^^^^That still baffles me. He's 33, she's 36. The dude could pick any sub 28 year old on the planet and he chooses her? Sure he'll have her pregnant before her next birthday, but still.

His brother is married to a 36 year old and she's had 2 kids and is about to have a 3rd. No way Meghan will be able to catch up, she'll be lucky to have 2 before drying up.

Couple takes legal action against Toronto fertility clinic over damaged eggs, embryos

An Ontario couple has filed notice of legal action against a Toronto fertility clinic after an alleged storage tank malfunction damaged their eggs and embryos.
In documents filed in Ontario Superior Court last week, the Mississauga, Ont., husband and wife, identified only by their initials, are seeking damages for negligence, breach of contract and breach of fiduciary duty. The notice of action seeks to commence a class-action lawsuit on behalf of the couple and any other affected individuals.
According to the court document, the couple was informed in late May that one of the cryogenic tanks owned by the ReproMed fertility clinic had malfunctioned. As a result of the malfunction, the couple’s nine embryos and 15 eggs were deemed “likely not viable,” the document claims.
