I liked the song back then but, God Damn, Johnny made it his own. Watching that youtube video just now actually brought a tear to my eye.
But yeah, I think about that shit too. I wonder if the player lifestyle will leave me in my last days dying alone. However, even people with families often die alone in some nursing home or in their apartment. The only people in my family who died with all of their family by their bedside died in unbearable agony as cancer at through their system. In contrast, the folks in my family who died alone, died quick and alone. I'll take that over months of cancer any day.
I think I will use the Clooney model. Date till I'm 50-55 then finally find somebody to grow old with. Do we have any 50+ players here? I wonder what there take is on the lifestyle.
Untill then I'll play on and hope I don't spit out any kids.
Johnny Cash's Hurt cover is one of my favourite songs of all time.
Personally, I've always imagined myself settling down one day in a mansion and having a large family. I fancy myself the patriarch of a dynasty one day, raise my sons to be G's and carry on my legacy. I'd never marry the women though, no "common law" marriages either. And I'd paternity test the children and select the mother very very carefully.
We're men, there's no expiry date for us. My father got married and had me when he was 45 (only child here). You could put off settling down till 40 and still have time to have a few kids.

My uncle's still a player in his sixties, and he has a fairly limited bankroll (works for the Army)
Money has never bought me happiness. It really complicates things once you hit the point of comfort. My game is better, I look better, and I feel better about myself now on unemployment then I did when I made 30-40k.
haha i was just thinking exactly the same thing few hours ago.
I was happier when i had less money. However i dont see money as evil, matterfact i believe that money can bring happiness if you know how to play your cards right, but its the chasing of money that makes you unhappy, because you will have to go shit that you dont want to go through, you will be sacrificing part of your life in order to make that good cake.
The chasing of money doesnt bring happiness (specially when you are working for other people), now having money, just having money can bring you happiness if you play your cards right. Money is a tool, its about knowing how to use that tool.
