A man was banned from boarding a British Airways flight from Reykjavík to London because he wore eight pairs of trousers and ten shirts. He was later arrested, after trying to board a plane while wearing an excessive amount of clothes to avoid excess luggage fees.

If airlines allow fat people to take two seats without paying for both seats, I am not sure why you cannot wear all your clothing (if you do not mind looking foolish and being really hot and uncomfortable). Perhaps trying to circumvent luggage fees by exercising creativity is a breach of airline policy.

If he made it through security with all those layers then I don't see how the airline has a right to deny him. Unless there is a policy that clearly states the allowed numbered of layers he did nothing wrong. I'm guessing he was trying to prove a point and making a scene if he got arrested. I'm sure

I know at least in the US, at the gate they can deny you boarding for not being dressed appropriately. I know this because recently they denied some girls from boarding who were wearing yoga pants.

True, but those two were flying on an employee pass - United was stricter with them probably out of some company policy shtick.

I actually saw some backpacker in the Reykjavik airport wearing two hats, multiple pants, jackets, etc. Iceland is crazy expensive, the guy probably didnt have $ for baggage after he realized breakfast costs $35.

The simplest explanation is probably the correct one. My personal guess is that he realised he had too much stuff at the last minute (or fucked up his booking and forgot to add extra luggage) and didn't have enough cash to pay extra on the spot. On the spur of the moment he had two choices. Toss his shit in the bin or rug up.

My bet would be that the trouble started when he got a little agitated at some fag or harpy at the luggage drop, who got on the radio and used their local/company code for "give asshole 3557F a bad day".

Under any other circumstance I doubt the attendants would have given a shit about Mr Stay Puft, unless he was already pretty obese to begin with.

I did this once in Bangkok. I wore six suits on the airplane. The airline employees were not happy, but they didn't stop me in the end.

If the suits were properly tailored to fit your body, how would you accomplish that? I imagine that it would be difficult to do with two suits, much less six of them.

There's a certain amount of give, so you can layer them.

Haha. I know that. I have worn suits all my life. I also have suits from over the years where I have been lighter and heavier (pant sizes 34, 35, and 36).

I just cannot imagine squeezing into six properly fitting suits. Perhaps I would need to give it a try to know for sure. Cheers.
