A lot of guys come to this forum looking for help on how to leave their natural betatude behind and take on more dominant male "alpha" behaviors.

Members here are very generous with advice, which I and I'm sure many others have found extremely useful in our quests for continuous self improvement.

However, there is an inherent limitation in giving advice on certain topics, notably related to body language, movement, voice tone and speech pattern,and facial expression- it's difficult to describe in words exactly what is the model behavior

These behaviors are much better described by illustration rather than verbal description.

Excellent examples can be most easily found in film-it's been apparent to me for a long time that the acting community is well aware of the alpha-beta spectrum. Actors are very effective in mimicking these behaviors in order to portray the necessary characters.

We could just discuss films in which the character is a high alpha and deserves study to break down exactly what the actor is doing to create that impression- and that would be a good subject for another thread.

However, in this thread I want to discuss films in which the character develops during the course of the film from a beta into an alpha. This allows the viewer to first see what the character is doing wrong i.e. beta and compare it to what the character later does right i. e. alpha.

Here are a few I can think of to start:

Limitless- Bradley Cooper is a failing writer- unwashed and grubby looking, dumped by girlfriend, beaten down by life. He begins taking a "smart drug" which transforms him into a ladies man, wall street whiz, man of action, and politician. The key moment occurs just after he takes the pill for the first time and after writing 100 pages of a novel in a few hours encounters his hot Asian neighbor in the hallway. His behavior is so changed and dominant he bangs her before her husband comes home. Compare his body language and speech early in the film to the second half.

Christine- this old horror film based on a Stephen King novel has a stupid premise- a haunted car. However, it is notable for the good job the actor does in portraying first a nerd and later, once he begins to become possessed by the spirit, a dangerous alpha. In particular, pay attention to how he slows down his movements and his speech, stops smiling readily and his gaze becomes much more penetrating as he becomes alpha.

Fight Club-an awesome film- if you haven't seen it go do so now. Ed Norton, Jr is a corporate guy driven insane by modern society and undergoes a psychic transformation. He becomes more alpha over the course of the film but the true alpha is his alter ego Brad Pitt. To me, Pitt's portrayal of an alpha is near perfect in his body language, voice tonality and speech pattern, and attitude. I can't imagine a guy acting like this who wouldn't get lays thrown at him constantly.

I've found certain actors in general tend to convey an alpha presence in most (if not all of their roles). The most obvious (and possibly most useful) examples would be Christian Bale (American Physco) and Tom Cruise (Topgun), and in a more subtle sense Denzel Washington.

Saying that, the performance that struck me most as a classic alpha display was Javier Bardem in 'Vicky Cristina Barcelona' - bit of a chick flick but he absolutely nailed the concept of framing your reality so that a female expects nothing more than casual sex.

Most movies about those transformations end with the newly-minted Alpha using his new skills to conquer the woman who was a bitch to him earlier, whereas in reality he would embark on a lifelong journey of unexplored pussy. That's why I don't like most of them, though I haven't seen Limitless so I don't know if it falls into that category too.

I know limitless mirrors my own coming of age as it were, and I'm sure it rings a bell with a lot of guys involved in game.

Not because we found supersmart pills, but because we grew up somewhat nerdy and it isn't until you're out of school/college/whatever that having smarts tends to start paying off.

I'm finding it quite difficult to think of other examples. The Godfather is an essential one, but it doesn't rely on the simplistic alpha/beta dichotomy. It is about a man who learns life isn't simple and he has to take charge of everything.

Er.

The Lion King. (Serious.) Actually, if you get away from the princess elements, loads of kids films have similar heroic plotlines.

I never really liked Fight Club. Always found it a bit fake-alpha. Like rap.

Stu (Ed Helms) is a total Beta at the beginning.

Phil (Bradley Cooper) is the smooth, charming, asshole Alpha.

The arc of the story is about Stu casting off his Beta life choices.

One I saw recently that could fit the description is "The Sitter." The movie was a little disapointing for me though. The opening scene made me think it was gonna be hilarious, but it was pretty much the funniest part of the movie. The rest wasn't all that funny.

What about Happy Gilmore? I'd say he was pretty alpha in an unbelievably retarded way .

I feel like most movies that are made about betas usually end up having them finally get the girl they wanted by making her realize he's "actually a really nice guy" compared to all those "assholes" she's been fucking .

I saw this movie called "Bandslam" and the main character is such a fucking loser the entire movie , I would post a clip but I guess I need a few more notches before I can .

Even though it is Hollywood, and these are professional actors, it goes to show how much changing your posture, tone, appearance, etc. can help a man attract people to him. Edward Norton can play full on beta in that movie where he is going to prison so has his friend fuck up his face, to a straight badass alpha in American History X.

I've started watching "Spartacus" recently. It is a TV series, with a lot sex and blood scenes. I just found that men in those times were the TRUE ALPHA. You can observe their behavior around women. Completely ALPHA, unapologetic, no grain of neediness, etc.

Guy who taught him how to be alpha agrees, has a breakdown and confesses that he wishes he could be beta

That movie was funny, but no example of "Alpha". Have you seen the "pick-up" environment they were in? a.k.a the lounge/bar, it had a ratio of 1(male):6(HOT females). I rest my case.

One of the greatest comedies of the 90's is also an excellent beta-to-alpha transformational film:

Swingers. Vince Vahn's first movie, probably also his best. He's the alpha who helps his beta friend who just got dumped get back into the game. 5 star film, absolutely hilarious.

The Main character in Swingers is painfully beta, though. Very difficult to watch.
