I'm just fucking glad the US finally figured their shit out. I hope. My main reason I want them to qualify ASAP is if they don't they'll have to have a playoff in mid-November and that's right in the middle of MLS playoffs.

I can't have that. I'm a Toronto FC fan and TFC needs Michael Bradley and Jozy Altidore at their best if we're gonna win the MLS cup this year. Extra games and travel and wear and tear and switching focus at exactly the wrong time. No good.

Wow.....this WC could set a record for the amount of "traditional" powers that fail to qualify.....not to mention the likes of Robben, Cristiano Ronaldo, Messi and who knows even Pogba and Mbappe could all be home come next June watching on TV.

In Europe:

The Netherlands is mathematically eliminated.

Italy is headed to a 2 leg playoff and they haven't looked that impressive vs other teams outside of being beaten by Spain both times.

With all their world class talent if France loses to Sweden on Wednesday they will also be headed to the playoffs.

European champs Portugal must beat Switzerland to qualify directly or they'll be forced into the playoffs.

In South America:

The biggest qualyfing shocker on earth is that Argentina with all their world class talent is on the verge of a colossal failure!!!

I'd have never in a million years saw this coming, they along with Brazil have FAR more talent than the rest of the continents teams.

A draw for them in Ecuador is probably still not enough for them to even get the 5th placed playoff seed. They have to win playng in the Andes mountains...it should be noted Ecuador beat Argentina 2-0 in Buenos Aires the last time they met.

You are right, last games will be interesting. But France will play Belarus tho, so that's an almost guarantee qualification. I think the play offs are also seeded. So probably Italy, Portugal/Switzerland, Croatia/Ukraine, Wales/Ireland will face North Ireland, Greece, Denmark or Scotland/Slovenia/Slovakia. A surprise is def possible, but still better than an open draw which could be Italy-Croatia for instance.

In South America its a very good possibility that Paraguay or Peru will take a spot from Chile, Colombia and/or Argentina.

In Africa Ivory Coast will also have a tough last game against Morocco.

They have money, infrastructure, a large number of youngsters, professional coaching centres, sports stadia up the ass and this injury scandal with traditional Football is going to impact big time on parents who don't want their kid to be mentally crippled before he is 30 or younger.

Its rich when European leagues bash the US for it when they rely on foreign talent themselves and allow multiple teams to spend in excess of £200,000,000 in one spending window with financial fair play rules in place and claim "nothing to see here".

Chinese, Arab, Russian and Asian consortiums are pushing their ill gotten gains into European clubs and through the banks in what I believe to be the biggest money laundering operation in history.

How are these "fans" claiming the US is shit is puzzling. I hope the US creates a league which will dominate the old empires.

By this token, China will dominate world football. The US won't become a soccer superpower until their soccer culture becomes like their basketball culture, with kids playing all day in neighborhood yards, as opposed to spending their time getting driven in a van to suburbs across town. Parents like Pulisic's who understand what it takes are the exception.
