I recently instituted a one year self-ban from all poker rooms in the tri-state area and a permanent self-ban from online poker. I just celebrated one month without playing a hand of poker, which is the longest I've gone in a decade. I had been playing a lot more in the past two years, up to 20 hours a week LIVE, even though the nearest casino is over an hour away.

It was so painfully obvious to me that I was using poker to avoid dealing with my issues and improving my life/relationships. Since I quit I've lost 10lbs while losing minimal strength, met a bunch of girls, bought my first condo, and massively increased my productivity at the business I work at with my two closest college friends. I also plan on filling my poker time with jiu-jitsu training and maybe a men's basketball league, so I can continue to feed my urge to compete.

I don't know if I will go back to the occasional poker tournament after my mandatory one year is done. Right now I don't really miss it much at all. After seeing how much I can get done in one month without poker, I don't know if I want to go back. If anyone has a huge time waster in their life like poker, video games, mindless notch collecting with lame girls, or watching Netflix stoned, I strongly recommend you take an extended break and see what you are really capable off. You might surprise yourself.

My 13 year old nephew was talking a bunch of trash today. So we had a bet that he would win PIG for 25 push ups. In his defense he's pretty good at basketball but he's too stiff so I beat him with trick shots and a dunk.

Then he double or nothing bet on beating me in a 400m race. I torched him by a good 60m and ran backwards the last 25.

Sometimes you gotta be a tough talking dad troll and put these young whipper snappers in their place.

Worked an eight hour shift, then I went to pick up some food at a local market and flirted with the cashier. After that I went to my local cigar shop. I shot the shit with the owner and grabbed a robusto to start the weekend right.
Got home, threw my food on the grill, and sat down to a late lunch.

As I am writing this I am sitting outside on this lovely day, listening to some jazz and plotting my next week and how it would get me where I need to be.

Live good guys. Take an hour out of your day and admire it. Preferably with a cigar in your hand.

Doing some writing at the university today, I get up and walk past the "nut free" conference room, and then glide along near the "Lactation Support Room," and onwards past the Men's Room.

Finally, I reach my goal, the "Gender Inclusive Bathroom."

Have to go out of my way to use that one, but it always a satisfying experience, contemplating all the things I can say if someone challenges my right to use it.

Upon entering, I see that someone who shares my mentality has been there before me, and committed the cardinal sin of shared toilet protocol.

He left all the toilet seats up.

It's gonna be a good day.

Lately my workouts have been better than ever. I was eating below maintenance for a while to shed some fat, and I just recently changed this. I'm now eating at maintenance/slightly above once again, and I'm full of energy in the gym once more.

I haven't worked out in two days. I didn't drink last night. I'm ready to go all out.

This is the only thing I'm doing today besides lounging around. After the gym I'll unwind in the sauna and then cook a nice meal. Maybe I'll watch some footy in the evening and get some reading done before bed.

No better way to spend a Sunday for me at the moment.

I started reading a book written by Brett Tate. This guy's writing is very funny and smart. I don't know how he does it but every time he describes a beautiful woman it sounds like a poem. He is also very good at putting down elites and fat American women:

I suffered from shitty ass back pain throughout the last year. I basically stopped working out and just decided to sit on my ass for a couple weeks. It's almost completely gone. I still get it from time to time but it's crazy what a difference taking a break makes. When I get back into lifting, I plan on getting an actual strength coach, instead of just dicking around on my own. I learned a lot from this process, and now know just how careful I have to be with my body. Having back pain makes you feel old and is no way to go through life.

I spent the last four years learning game. I banged or got head from over thirty women but none of it really fulfilled me or gave me anything lasting. In June I met a beautiful girl from Hong Kong who loves me for who I am. I was so used to women being narcissistic, neurotic, etc. Being completely irrational about their lives and sexuality, fucking me in five minutes then wailing and bitching about how they shouldn't have done it. I hated being treated like that. This girl loved how I went for what I want (I fucked her within ten minutes of meeting her). It's a wonderful feeling to hear a girl tell you she loves you and know that she means it. She flew to Nepal to visit me when I travelled there. She cooks for me and treats me like a king.

I'm finally back in America permanently after travelling around for the past year. It feels great to be able to speak fluently in English again. It feels great to eat my mother's cooking and see the guys I grew up with. I love living where I do in California. My job is pretty chill and full of hot women. Once I get my fitness and health back on lock I'll be in the best place I've been since 2015.

And for all that, I feel like I've learned from all the hard lessons I learned over the last four years. I used to derive all my value and satisfaction from other people. Now I derive it from myself. I feel tougher and stronger and I have a more realistic attitude towards other people. I know that living healthily, going outside, and taking care of my body is worth a million times more than drugs or drinking or mindless casual sex. I feel way more comfortable with myself and grateful for everything I've experienced.

There is a light at the end of the tunnel. I went through a lot of shit in 2016. I lived in two Middle Eastern countries and had to fend for myself. I had back pain so bad I couldn't sleep. I coped with the loss of good friends and the realization that adulthood might damage my relationships. I almost went crazy after aggressive psychadelic and marijuana usage. I realized how little I'd actually accomplished in my life, how little I'd actually done for myself. The last two years have been the hardest and most brutal of my life, but I feel like I'm almost free from the pit of despair.

Anyone on this thread, feel free to PM me if you're having some serious personal issues. Anything can be borne or overcome. All struggle is, in the end, a blessing.

Yesterday the temperature crept above 75 F, and down on the beach, exercising my dog, girls were back out in bikinis. A little pocket rocket with blonde hair was wearing a black bikini with the name of my city across her ass. Summer is on its way back.

Just got Lasik surgery to correct my near-lifelong nearsightedness. I can't explain how amazing it is to go from wearing glasses every waking moment of every day for as long as your can remember to taking them off and leaving them on the dresser for good.

I started college again yesterday. I'm not sure what it was exactly, but I have a much easier time talking to new people. I'm making more of an effort to get enough sleep, quitting porn, eating breakfast, working on a proper schedule, joining groups, and more. I'm also making sure to ask people near me for the time and other things to slowly expose myself to more and more things I feel afraid of socially. Things are starting to click little-by-little.

The challenging part is not letting setbacks put me into a funk, so I'm learning to teach myself to say "breathe" in my head to interrupt negative thought chains and bring me back to the present moment.
