We just stood around the farm with welding helmets on.

The speedglass ones were a bit unpredictable so every now and then you would hear a guy go "waaaaa" as the sensor clicked off haha.

Smoke some cigarettes and talked about how this must have freaked the shit out of our ancient ancestors. The daylight becomes so ominous.

I couldn't get the picture to work. My selfie kept getting a blowout of the light on my screen, even when it was cloudy at the time. Tons of request for the damn glasses probably like 40. People went to different stores for them. Wouldn't be surprised if there are a ton of calls to eye surgeons and doctors if they burned their eyes tomorrow.

I was able take a decent low res pic with my phone. I put the eclipse sunglasses over the phone camera lens, about an inch away. The sun is only about 2mm in the photo but you can clearly see the crescent shape.

No selfie though...

Your eyes also dilate as it gets darker outside, so it's more likely to burn your retinas looking at the sun.

Drove to north GA with some friends, got to camp out at a really nice little inn off the beaten path. Got a perfect view, the sun was completely covered, and it was definitely a cool experience. I wouldn't have bothered but having a friend with a good connection/place to go made all the difference. Best part was, aside from gas money and a small tip at dinner it didn't cost a dime.

Somehow celestial stuff has never done it for me. I don't care about planets, stars, meteors, comets, space shuttles landing, or eclipses.

I have seen eclipses, shooting stars, the rings of Saturn, and none of it had much impact on me.

I sometimes think I am missing some vital human quality when I see other people getting so excited about stuff.

On the other hand, I do get really excited when I see human beings engage in extremely rare and singular behavior.

Like one time, I saw A total eclipse of a female ego when the dark silhouette of reason completely obscured the intensely bright hamster-light allowing the much fainter corona of sensibleness to be visible.

It was like nothing I have ever seen, and I remember exactly where I was, and how old I was when it happened.

I was at a party talking with some guys when I was thirty three when we were interrupted by a drunk girl who said, "Well, actually . . . "

She paused for a moment looking confusedly from one guy to the other, and said, "Don't even listen to me, I don't know what I am talking about."

For a moment I thought I had misheard her, and when I realized that I hadn't I took a couple of seconds to really take in this once in a generation event.

It is still hard to really believe it happened.

Neither before then, or after then, from her or anygirl else have I ever heard this single, inspiring unique string of words.

It is something I will share with my descendants.
