You don't have the air of a man who's spent any real time in the country. Look at the difference between how you talk and the other expats and Asian travelers talk. Not one of us, not me, not Suits, not Fortis, not the now-departed Phoenix, not cascadecombo, not a single one of us talks about China or any other place in Asia in the weird, knob-slobbering way you do. When you actually live in a place, you gain a feeling for its virtues and its faults, and an understanding of the country that goes beyond charts, graphs, and sayings from obscure leaders that you pulled from the internet to make yourself look erudite. I talk about Japan all the time, and I would sooner commit 1500s-style harakiri than quote Sakamoto Ryoma or Michio Fuchida at someone. I'd look like a jackass.

Do you have anything to say about China that comes from your own experience, as opposed to something you pulled out of Foreign Policy Magazine or some NYT non-fiction bestseller you read?

SamBRo, a few things.

I do not live in China nor do I claim to do so. I live in Vietnam. But I've spent some times in China. I have relatives there and even studied there for a short while. I come there almost biannually. I do not live there yet because I can't stand the polluted air. But I may plan to in the future if the pollution wears off (in about 10 years or so, presumably).

I have talked about other issues on this forums before. I just talk about China more frequently now. I talk about China often because I'm interested in China's rise as a geopolitical event. I'm also a Sinophile and Sinospherical traditionalist. I've an obsession with China. No disputing that. If that makes me come off as a weirdo, so be it.

I'm still learning about this vast and complex country, and where I'm wrong about China, I welcome anyone who can correct me on it.

I do talk about China beyond graphs and charts. See my answers on Quora:
https://www.quora.com/profile/Shanan-Rua...5%E5%AE%89

You can contact me on Quora to confirm if you have an account.

When it's relevant I also talk about Chinese related things that are beyond charts and graphs (how do I know that the Strategic Fooyou Agency is a Chinese inside joke?). It's it's often irrelevant, and I post charts and graphs because I don't expect you will just take my words for it, not knowing me personally. I also don't like to pose myself as an be-all end-all authority about a country just because I live there. Even Americans disagree with each other about what America is like/its states of affair.

I can talk about how startlingly upfront Chinese girls can be about how they expect you to provide for them materially (house and cars, etc.), how the Chinese like to defend their government in front of foreigners but harshly criticize its policies in their circles because they have to save face in front of outsiders and they consider you an outsiders, how lax law enforcement is in China and you can park your cars practically anywhere, etc. But that's just not the topics that come up recently.

Last but not least, Deng Xiaoping is by no means obscure and his famous Taoguan Yanghui dictum is very central to China's political thinking.

This is pretty off-topic and I don't intend to derail it any further. We can talk about it elsewhere like in the Trump China Policy thread or the Everything Goes thread.

Cheer!

I saw a crossdresser on the subway last week who looked like he was dying of Aids and had a really nasty cough. Any time someone would sit next to him, he would lean directly into their face and start coughing. So much for being the paragon of all things good and right in the world.

Via the Washington Examiner
Quote:GOP hijacks Democrats' bill on Jeff Sessions, uses it to target Hillary Clinton

Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday commandeered a Democrat resolution demanding more information about Attorney General Jeff Sessions' actions and turned it into a resolution demanding further investigation into Hillary Clinton.

It happened after a 2.5-hour debate that devolved into a series of partisan point scoring and sanctimony on dozens of political scandals ranging from the Nixon administration to the Clinton impeachment, to the more modern inquiries to determine how damaging Russia's influence was on the 2016 elections.

Democrats were hoping to put Republicans on the spot with a "resolution of inquiry" that, if it had passed, would have asked the Department of Justice to provide documents related to any potential involvement Sessions had in the firing of former FBI Director James Comey.

The resolution was sponsored by Democrats Reps. Pramila Jayapal of Washington and David Cicilline of Rhode Island.

But Republicans used their majority in the committee to tack on an amendment that struck the Democrats' language and instead called for a special counsel to investigate matters more closely related to Hillary Clinton and the Obama administration. That includes the recently revealed information that former Attorney General Loretta Lynch asked Comey to refer to the Clinton email scandal as a "matter" instead of an "investigation."

It passed along party lines in the committee, 15-13.

Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte of Virginia defended the move by saying Democrats were being "redundant" for seeking information from the administration while the Robert Mueller special counsel investigation was ongoing.

"This resolution seems to be just one more opportunity for my colleagues on the other side of the aisle to vicariously voice Hillary Clinton's long and growing list for why she lost the election," Goodlatte said.

Jayapal said the committee had fallen down with its responsibilities by not investigating Russia matters, "even as our counterparts in the Senate Judiciary Committee and the House and Senate Intelligence Committees have put country over party and have refused to step away from their essential roles."

Democrats have made similar moves in other committees, trying to force votes on small issues related to President Trump and the ongoing Russia investigations. On Tuesday, Republicans torpedoed an effort by Democrats in the House Ways and Means Committee that would have allowed the committee to gain access to Treasury Department documents that might show ties between Trump and Russia.

Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi announced the party's strategy earlier this month when she said at a news conference, "We will force Republicans to take votes on the record to continue hiding facts from the American people."

Neither the Democrats' original resolution nor the Republican's amendment that followed may be that notable, in the end. The Democrats' resolution did not have the legal force of a subpoena, which means it could very well be ignored by the Justice Department. And the Republicans' request for a special counsel to investigate Clinton-related matters is only that, a request.

Meanwhile, ever since President Trump took office, economy has been improving.

For some reason, websites that quote a lot of tweets to show how the conversation or tweet storm unfolded always show the tweet, then repeat the text from the tweet. I always end up reading every tweet twice. Once I recognize a particular page's layout, I try to skip the repeated text, but then I still have to look at it so I catch the page's commentary.

If you're going to embed the tweet, there's no reason to repeat what it says. [/hate]

Anyway, the tweets make a good point. War tests everybody's psychological weak points, and when somebody is working through this kind of issue, they're not combat effective, and are a danger and liability to their team mates. People with major issues, such as a tranny, are way too much of a liability in combat.

Just saw Dan Bongino on Fox & Friends ripping Republicans a new one: "They are liars, they are useless, they are frauds--we expect that from Democrats and we are never disappointed, but Republicans!!!" It went like this for solid 5 minutes, without interruption from the hosts.

This is still going on, so no video just yet, but it was immensely satisfying to hear someone say that out loud and with conviction.

Ethnoshilling ain't easy.

Honestly, though, this sort of anti-nationalism from an Asian is weird. Usually Asians are diehards for their respective countries. it's very rare that I meet an Asian who isn't chinese who yucks and shucks this hard for China. It's almost amusing in a cringy, beta way.

The deepstatesoy is real here.

I wonder if the chinese thralls thousands of years ago shucked this hard for their massas?

I don't even think it's shilling: no shill would call themselves a "sinospherical traditionalist".

I think he's like that guy we all knew in middle school who was big into Japanese samurai and ninjas, and thought that katanas could cut through tank armor and if a Japanese person got mad, they could power up like a super saiyan from Dragon Ball. Except in his case it's China instead of Japan, and the 12 year old who won't shut up about the arts of the samurai is way less cringeworthy.

RE: The Donald Trump thread
Just for your guys reference, here is the list of disqualifying conditions: http://www.military.com/join-armed-force...ions.html. Here is where it disqualifies trans *note, this reference disqualifies transexuals not transgenders, they are different but I am sure it will be update with the new changes*:

Quote:Psychosexual Conditions
The causes for rejection for appointment, enlistment, and induction are transsexualism, exhibitionism, transvestitism, voyeurism, and other paraphilias.

I have some liberal friends of facebook. They are up in soy arms over this as expected.

I have so far been responding with the current list of military disqualifying conditions. There are some very minor things in there, and some very funny things (do a ctrl-f for "mental" and click around for a bit, they list some random sexual deviant shit as disqualifying).

I then ask them "Why is this transgender disqualification a more important issue than the rest of disqualifying issues on the list. Why is being a transgender less disqualifying than say (insert some random disqualifying item from the list)".

None have had a good answer, they normally counter with something along the lines of "well a trans is perfectly capable of service, it is actually weakening the service". Maybe they even link to the clickbait articles about trans X in service Y or some shit.

Then you can respond with something along the terms of "Well you don't actually care about the strength of the military. If you did, wouldn't you be up in soy arms up about (insert disqualifying factor), which I'm sure disqualifies more prospective service members than being trans?"

Again no good answer. This is usually the point they realize they are being baited into a logical discussion they are bound to lose, so they start hurling the trans-phobe insults and what not. They like to bring up discrimination here. So then you respond with "If it is discrimination to disqualify trans, wouldn't it then be discrimination to disqualify for (insert whatever here, I like bringing up the psychosexual conditions such as exhibitionism)? Should we petition to have that removed as well?

Again no good answer.

Anyways I've had some fun with that line of questioning today. Kills some boredom. Basically using the Socratic Method against them. Ask a liberal enough questions and eventually they will talk themselves into disagreeing with themselves, it's great entertainment.

Roosh, I'll take my 20% low-post warning now.

Never cross streams.

RE: The Donald Trump thread
Is Reince the leaker? If he is, this will go down as one of the greatest betrayals of a sitting president by his own team. I really hope Reince is clean because if he isn't he will be doomed to be the Mitt Romney dick fluffer forever.

More likely it's someone on Reince's personal staff, but you never know.
