Madrid cracks down on 'manspreading' on public transport

Manspreading - which was accepted as a word in the online Oxford dictionary two years ago - is already discouraged in some other cities around the world.

EMT said in a statement (in Spanish) that the aim of the new signs was to remind male travellers "of the need to maintain civic behaviour and to respect the space of everyone on board the bus".
The women's group Mujeres en Lucha (Women in Struggle) said in its online petition that it was not uncommon on public transport to see women "with their legs closed and very uncomfortable because there is a man next to her invading her space".
It's hashtag #MadridSinManspreading (#MadridWithoutManspreading) has been widely used on social media.
In 2014, New York's Metropolitan Transportation Authority decided to crack down on the manspreading scourge with signs on the city's Metro that read: "Dude... stop the spread, please."
The US city of Philadelphia also launched a "Dude, it's Rude" campaign, while Seattle's transport provider put up signs showing an octopus with its tentacles draped over bordering seats.

So small portion of haired feminists complained and males were forced to squeeze our balls. I am wondering how this will be enforced, I cant imagine forcing myself to sit with legs like mangina.

Clearly Spanish men are resoundingly upset about this new ordenancia but were unable to prevent it from being enacted. One brick more in the tomb of Western masculinity.

It most definitely should apply to both genders. Fact is that men are anatomically different than women and there is a very simple reason as to why men sit with their legs spread out a little. Of course in this day and age common sense has all but evaded the modern woman.

I was in suburbs of Kansai area Japan. Some hippy rocker expat told me to sit with my legs together because it was rush hour. My legs were just shoulder with apart.

Told him thanks but I'm good. No one is squeezing in just yet. Tried to ask where he was was from. He said it again. I point across to the Japanese salary man sitting just like me. Are you a comedian?

He says that guy learned it from me. I was like wow. I looked at the salary man and pointed my thumb to the hippy like "this guy". He was serious!

Not only that. It's worse. Japan has female only cars. Occasionally I'm fooling around on my phone and don't notice I've entered one. I'm always politely tapped and told to move. Even in cars with barely anyone in them!
