There's no surface, once you go into Uranus the pressure just increases as you get deeper in it.

Why would anyone try to mine metals out of a gas giant? I thought Mass Effect was trying to be realistic.

There is no way i am taking a dive anywhere....
I am sure there is a lot of gas....
if there is a lot of heavy elements a stool sample may be required....
