If you are into day game at all and want to potentially pay less in rent I would personally move to the Galleria area, also known as uptown. You can find older apartment complexes that are still very nice on the inside a couple of lights down the street from the Galleria for $900 for a 1 bedroom. Living in that area also puts you about 10 minutes or so from just about any night game spot you would most likely want to visit.

I am not huge on night game, so I prefer to live in Southwest Houston. The rent is much cheaper so you can get a brand new apartment for about 800-900. Also where I live I have come into contact with women from every continent and dozens and dozens of different countries simply by approaching at grocery stores.

More than 9 times out of 10 they are either prostitutes, drug or alcohol addicts, or HORRENDOUSLY broke.

Also if I remember correctly you live in LA. I have lived for years in LA. While not exactly as bad in this respect as LA, you will also encounter people here that are from a totally different part of town especially if you are night gaming or at a place like the Galleria. Chances are at some point you will run into a chick that you want to bang or get serious with that lives something like 15 miles away. So yes, have a car here even if you don't use it all the time.

I need to get my affairs in order, get my money up, and put in my work in the next 3 years before I get close to 30. I think drinking and partying has held back my potential so my priorities are shifting right now. Would love a low cost tier 2 city with things to do if I feel like it but I'm shifting away from the need to be in the action at least at this point in my life.

And 1 more question can you compare Houston to Phoenix if you're familiar with Phoenix as well?

Either you misread what I wrote or I misspoke. I do not live in the Galleria area. I live in Southwest Houston. I do go to the Galleria itself and that area at least a day or two or three a week though. Basically the Galleria is Houston's premier mall. I don't think anyone can deny that it is the most famous and/or best mall Houston has. For the purposes of game it is ideal for day gaming inside from 12-8 on Saturdays and Sundays. You could easily approach 20 or more 6-7+ women within a few hours there on those days.

As far as the demographics of the Galleria itself you will see women, and people in general, of all different races and from all parts of Houston. The Galleria area is generally one of the more affluent parts of town, so depending on where you are exactly you will generally see and be living around white people. As far as things to do you are within a 10-15 minute drive of literally anything I have interest in doing in the entire city of Houston (excluding Galveston which is a beach city and further away). If you go West down a street called Westheimer you will be going toward my side of town which is poorer but incredibly diverse. If you go East down Westheimer (and I might not exactly be using the right names for everything and where one area begins and another ends isn't 100% clear at all times) you will immediately hit the River Oaks area which is the richest part of town, then you will hit Montrose, then you will hit Midtown, and if you turn left you will hit downtown. With no traffic you can go from the Galleria area to Downtown, which is the furthest you'd generally want to go, within 10 or at max 15 minutes.

Overall I would say the Galleria is just a safe and centrally located place. It doesn't really have a vibe per se in my opinion, or maybe I don't know how to describe it because I've been going there my whole life. The Galleria area is just the Galleria area haha.

I've never lived or gone out in Phoenix, but I have a friend who moved there about 6 months ago who lived many many years in Houston and now is in Old Town Scottsdale. He hasn't gone into the nightlife too much yet, but from what he has told me the nightlife in Scottsdale absolutely annihilates Houston. He said Old Town Scottsdale is like "Houston on steroids" as far as night life goes. Phoenix is also cheaper than Houston.

I've been through Phoenix in the summer and the heat feels like needles going into your skin. Houston can also have terrible weather though, but its different. It is incredibly humid here, so if you are the type of guy that sweats more than an average dude you will perspire at least on the forehead by the time you leave a building and walk to your car. This year and last year the weather has been unusually good because of El Nino and all that, but usually in the summer I would walk to my car, turn the AC all the way up, and use a napkin to wipe the sweat off my forehead. That being said, it is bearable outside of the 2-3 worst months of summer. The winter gets kind of cold at times but worst case scenario it freezes for like 2-3 days. All I can say is you are from LA, so expect to enter hell as far as the weather goes. If you take things lightly it isn't that bad though.

I'm new on here, but these gentleman have give you some good info. As for myself, early 30's white guy who works in oil and gas, but lives in Spring. That's the north side, basically right next to ExxonMobil's campus. It's the 'burbs, but was near my work when I worked in our office in the Woodlands(very nice and clean, but very white and like a bubble) and what I could afford at the time when buying my current place. West Houston is nice, in my opinion.

Like they said, car culture doesn't matter. I've usually driven clunkers as I'd rather own a house than have a fancy ride, but impressed quite a few ladies when I bought a new Ford F-150 King Ranch edition. It's a Texas thing I guess, haha. Needless to say, if you're a good looking dude, intelligent and have some game, you will be fine with the women here. Most do prefer a guy who lives inner loop, but so long as you're right near the action, you should be good.

Honestly that's the hardest part about moving from LA. Eastcoast and midwest? Cold ass winters. South? Humid ass heat, storms, winds, etc. Desert? Hellish dry heat. Fucking goddamn spoiled by the LA climate. All we have here is 65-75 every day with a little bit of rain in the winter. But I'm starting to feel more and more like So Cal is a place to visit, not to live. Planning my escape!

And Jesus I'm looking on craiglist and the rents are SO AFFORDABLE. I can get a whole 1 bedroom apartment with a garage for a little more than I'm paying here for a room in a shared apartment with no parking.

Besides the Galleria, what are some of the better day game spots in Houston? I like areas I can just kind of post up, on a bench or something, and that has a good concentration of girls coming and going.

I just want to correct the above poster with his negative comments about living downtown. I live downtown in a high rise apartment and I love it. Every time I tell a girl where I live it is instant DHV and they want to check out the rooftop pool with views of downtown. There's a huge number of high rise apartments in downtown right now and lots of professional hotties living at these places. My pool is basically a Vegas pool party on weekends with some amazing talent.

The strip of bars on Main Street is the new hot spot in Houston and you will find as much talent here on a typical weekend as you would at the bars in midtown. I live right in between the bars on main st and midtown and the easy access to both has made my life a lot easier in terms of logistics and bringing girls back home from the bar.

As far as daygame is concerned; memorial park tops the list. On any given day, you will find hotties by themselves or in groups of girls jogging the trail. Some serious eye candy here and most are friendly and open to being approached, as they are decked out in their finest lulu lemon workout gear for a reason! Also, check out the jogging trail around Rice University. Tons of hot Rice girls jogging around, as well as random hot girls in the area or hot west u moms. Any of the local Starbucks inside the loop will be crawling with hotties as well, I prefer the midtown one.

Any other specific questions about Houston, let me know. I know the downtown/midtown/Washington/heights/galleria areas very well and can give you great recommendations.

Also, coming from someone who lived in the Galleria area for many years, don't live there unless you work nearby. The traffic is insane ALWAYS, it is extremely difficult to get outside of the galleria area because of this. Also, there's no real bar area or good bars in general in the area. There's lots of high end shopping, upscale restaurants, upscale wine bars etc; but not really any bars where you would go to pick up groups of girls who are looking to get drunk and make bad decisions. If you are looking to meet high quality girls who want to sleep with you: stick to the downtown, midtown, Washington bars/areas.

Also, what car you drive doesn't really matter here. What matters is where you live, and what you do for a living. If you want to attract the older gold digging types, then yes purchasing a brand new benz or BMW might help you out with those types. However, location is most important. You could have the best job in the world and drive a Ferrari, but if you tell a girl you live in sugarland or cypress and she lives inside the loop, chances are she won't date you because it's practically a long distance relationship for her as it can be an hour to get to those locations from central houston. I know I've turned down several girls because they lived out in the Burbs and it was too much of a hassle to see them.

If you want to attract young professional hotties in their mid to late 20's, saying you work in oil and gas and live in a loft or high rise apt in downtown/midtown works a lot better, doesn't matter what car you drive. This has gotten me laid so many times, and I've driven some pretty crappy cars.

Houston girls are more low key and not as flashy as girls in other major cities. They're not impressed by guys throwing their money around. They're more impressed with education, looks, career etc.

Also i forgot to mention, if latina girls are your thing you will love Houston. There is a HUGE population of girls from Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, Brazil etc. A lot of rich foreigners move here for business or oil jobs, and of course bring their hot daughters along the way. Find the bars that have a Latin/Salsa night and there you will find where all the hot Latinas are. Gloria's in midtown is a prime spot for these girls just FYI. The Venezuelans live in the west side of town, in Katy. Some folks call that shit Katyzuela. There's a bunch of Venezuelan businesses over there. 92.5 is their radio station, there's an authentic South American club that's like Glorias called Carruseles. It's been around for a while but I've been hearing about it more and more lately.

Most of the "nice" apartments in Houston will be strict with credit checks and verify your income. The older, not so nice apartments probably won't care as much. Same with any other city.

If you live in one of the nicer apartment complexes (skyhouse, gables, Camden, metro midtown) there will be an endless supply of hot single girls living there. Houston is huge on pool parties during the summer. You can hit the pool with some beers and just chat up some girls by themselves. Most girls by themselves will be open to being gamed at the pool because their guard is down and likely new in town and want to meet new People.

Oilrig, I wasn't entirely bad mouthing Downtown and if I did I was joking. Realistically, it is the center of the city and has tons of pluses. You can get anywhere you want around Houston more quickly than other spots, you are correct that lots of bars have sprung up recently and the crowd can get very lively, it is very close to the other major bar areas like midtown, and I'm sure you can find amazing apartments.

When I was bad mouthing downtown it was because in order to live in one of those amazing high rises where your weekend pool time is like being in a vegas pool party you are easily talking $1500 a month just on rent, and I would actually assume the truth is closer to $2000. Correct me if I'm wrong because I've never rented in the area. I was giving Darkwing advice based on what I've read by him in the past couple of months. He can answer for himself, but I don't think he wants to pay $2000 a month just on rent which will build absolutely no equity and is basically money you will never see again. He is deciding where in the country to move. Personally I would much rather live anywhere I want in Manhattan with two roommates for $2000 a month rather than anywhere in Houston. I was born in Houston, lived most of my life here, have lived about 5 years in LA, and a couple of years in NYC. Houston has a lot to offer, but $2k on rent to live here? I would pass.

Also I was not wrong at all about the homeless in downtown. I was there two days ago and I saw a white guy walking down the street and three homeless guys ran up to him, then the guy jogged away from them. I am 6'2'' and 250+ and I have had homeless people aggressively or incessantly ask me for money in a high percentage of times I've been downtown. Yes there are definitely nice areas and it can certainly be a DHV, but that doesn't mean it is ideal for every given situation. It is also a DHV to live in a "house" in River Oaks and I certainly would if I could. It is central, I could meet the Saudi royal family, and if I had some great social skills it wouldn't be hard to throw some epic parties, but is it realistic for me to suggest that to everyone considering moving to Houston? Again that was hyperbole, but not everyone can live the high life.

About the car thing and what Oilrig said about what girls in Houston find valuable, I totally agree. Location is a huge deal for inner loop girls, but there are millions outside the loop as well that are just as hot. I would even bet that a large percentage of people partying in the inner loop on any given weekend live outside 610, me being one of them. You mentioned career being important to girls in Houston, I completely second this. They don't care about career in the gold digger type way, it's just that Houston girls tend to be in the what can I do long term with this guy type mindset so they want a stable job for their man.

For anyone that is considering Houston, including Darkwing, downtown Houston is VERY similar to downtown LA. The major difference is that DTLA has more to do, but downtown Houston is more geographically desirable.

Comte posted about Spire and Cle. I was at Spire a few weeks ago. Totally packed and tons of hot girls, many of which were top notch. At one point I saw a group of three girls in the back, one of which was a Latina. As far as I could tell she literally had a perfect body as far as I'm concerned. Big, round, perfectly shaped ass, big tits probably D's, about 5'6'', and just basically like something you'd see out of a magazine.

No one can really win an argument for living outside the inner loop or near it, but there is a ton of potential as far as women go outside of 610. I plan to do a Houston report of my own if I ever get off my ass and do 60 days of straight night game in addition to my current day game and online game, but as far as day game goes the Westside/Southwest Houston (and I define that basically starting at 610 and Westheimer and going West) is a better option for me than the inner loop. In less than 200 approaches I have met women from several different countries on every continent excluding Antarctica. I'll write out the specific countries in my report. I am not so sure that could be done to anywhere near the same extent just in the inner loop. This is of course taking my definition to include the Galleria as being on my side, and not in the inner loop. The trade off is that the inner loop has more young and professional girls that are single and/or want to party. Also there really isn't any nightlife worth mentioning the further West you go.

If I wasn't from Houston but had the same information that I do having lived here and I cared more about day game, getting flags, and spending less on rent I would take the Westside/Southwest over the inner loop any day.

Stacks no offense taken at all my man. Just trying to give an accurate representation of Houston. By the way most of the apartments downtown are in the $1200/month range: Skyhouse, Block 334, Houston House. Same goes for the apartments in midtown.

I'm not hating on the west side or southwest side of town at all. I love the area and know there's tons of girls all over Houston. But the OP asked what is the best area to live as a late 20's professional. I think if you asked 99/100 houstonians they would all say to live inside the loop as close to midtown/downtown as possible.

My intel on rents was based on what I've heard from friends and acquaintances. A friend of mine lived in some really old apartments in a one bedroom near San Felipe and Fountain View and he said he was paying $1000. Another lived in a high rise right by the Galleria with a free valet right off post oak and said she paid $1800 for her one bedroom. I am in no way doubting you, I just was oblivious that you could get anything downtown for less than 1k that wasn't a crackhouse. Hell, to get a one bedroom in a new complex on the Westside you are still talking 1k give or take $100-150. Again, had I known it was that affordable to live in the loop I probably would have done so.

Also I agree that 99/100 Houstonians would choose the inner loop. I personally don't enjoy alcohol and night game hasn't been my go to over the years, so I never really saw the appeal. That's the only reason I don't care for the inner loop as much as I probably should, but the truth is I end up taking dates that I get from day game to the inner loop all the time anyway.

From craiglist I can see apartments in midtown under 1200 though I'm not familiar enough with Houston to know if the addresses they're saying are legit legit. But they're advertising inner loop.

Downtown is advertising apartments as low as under 1000.

Seems legit to me.

The chevelle near Washington has reasonable rent too. $1000/month and you're inside the loop near Washington.
