White-bread America despite owning most of the guns has a statistically insignificant number of gun deaths. It's only liberal welfare ghettos that rack up the body counts, ironically despite those areas having the strictest gun control laws in the nation.

America doesn't have a gun problem. It has a Democrat problem.

Map is 10 years old but is fairly accurate. Outside DC, which had the highest number of gun deaths that year, the states with the most gun violence were Alaska, Louisiana, and Mississippi. I should mention that this map includes ALL gun violence: accidental shootings, suicides, and self-defense.

Not to mention Columbine, Sandy Hook, Aurora etc. But wait I know "If only those places allowed people to carry guns!" Laugh

RE: Thoughts on Jim Jefferies?
I saw Jeffries (before he became Jefferies) live a couple times before he reached more mainstream popularity - circa 2010-11. at the time he was probably best known as one of the Opie & Anthony crew - basically a hard living, drunk 'misogynist' persona. there wasn't really much of a political angle to his comedy - a lot of sex/women/relationships, observational comedy, and he definitely had a hard-on for religion.

for example - after mocking the crowd for going silent when he pauses during a religion bit and says "Muslims..." in his "I Swear To God" special -
every comic who does a Muslim joke does a terrorist joke. Obviously most of them aren't terrorists, I'm talking about the things that we know are shit, the fact that women have very few rights in their culture. Now, it sounds good in theory, but...

more recently having reached mainstream success in America and gotten married/had a kid, he's definitely changed the direction of his act. I think the gun control jokes and political routines smack of opportunism - and it's clearly worked as his profile has risen. it's also made me less interested since mocking guns and Trump is so transgressive in the current year as to be boring. so it goes.

Weak anti-gun trolling. 0/10. When you control for justified shootings and suicide, you will see gun violence is reserved to your favorite inner city leftist utopia.

Run the statistics by county. We've all seen the "red/blue" map of American politics that's a sea of red with little blue islands. You'll find that shooting deaths are "island events".

Suicide and accidents make a huge portion of that pie.

RE: Thoughts on Jim Jefferies?
Leonard is closest to the mark.

A few months ago, out of curiosity (as alluded to on the Trump thread at that time) I ran state-level multiple regressions on Murders and Gun Murders with %GunOwnership, %BlackPopulation, UrbanizationRate, and PovertyRate as explanatory variables using SlateStarCodex's data.

Two regressions, each with one response variable and four explanatory variables. In those regressions, %GunOwnership, UrbanizationRate, and PovertyRate were not statistically significant predictors--only %BlackPopulation was.

Between those four variables, only the percentage black population was significant in explaining variation in murders and gun murders across states. Gun ownership rate, urbanization rate, and poverty rate were not.

Separately, Wikipedia's figures linked with the FBI's figures suggest the white homicide rate for the United States is roughly in line with Europe's homicide rate, even though "Whites" are comingled with latinos frequently in FBI-reporting.

When it comes to killing, guns do not appear to be the issue here, to say the least.

RE: Thoughts on Jim Jefferies?
As for the suicides, there's nothing to suggest that people will suddenly choose life if they find out they can't get a gun.

"Reduced gun related suicides" was one of the big talking points from the crooked left after the gun confiscations in Australia, much of it coming from academics who utterly revealed their dishonesty since the overall suicide rate didn't actually drop (and they would have had clear access to those statistics).

People just chose another way to kill themselves, though the left was adamant on trying to trick people into thinking gun control was preventing suicide.

RE: Thoughts on Jim Jefferies?
Jim Jeffries is an asshole, as he adequately demonstrated on Real Time.

What are these "comedians" and SJWs going to say after 4-8 years when Trump hasn't marched all homosexuals, people of colour, Muslims, and every nationality other than neutralised American into a gas chamber?

If they're so certain this is going to happen, people like Jim Jeffries are making selfish use of their time appearing on HBO to publicise their new Netflix show.

America doesn't have a gun problem. It has a Democrat problem.

In Canada the overwhelming majority of violent gun crime is committed with guns that have either been stolen from legitimate, law-abiding gun owners or with guns that have been illegally smuggled in from outside the country and acquired on the black market by career criminals. Armed robberies, the odd ethnic gang beef/hit, or the occasional white trash motorcycle gang turf-war in the bigger cities make up most of gun crime and 100% of that is carried out with illegally acquired firearms. Yet after a prominent occurrence of one of these crimes, the media, police, and politicians want us all to think of the children and to make it harder for licensed, law-abiding citizens to buy and keep guns. Better policing of the border? Cracking down on organized crime? Nope. It's the fault of Bob from rural Saskatchewan. The shotgun locked up in his closet is to blame.

I'm not into politics and I don't know much about american politic so I can't say anything related to how liberal he is or not (I don't care anyway) but I loved his shows and I think he's very funny. He's one of the first and few English speaking stand up artist I've watched, so I don't have much elements of comparison.

Classic case of projection.

Dude wants to disarm people. Dude hates his enemies. Dude is clearly petty and bitter with the world.

Imagines everyone in power that he doesn't like is Hitler, because he would be Hitler given the chance.

If these guys had even a shred of consistency and had been wary of absolute power no matter who is in charge, they could be making some comedy dynamite with Trump. Because there is humor to be mined there, and there is nothing wrong with poking fun.

Trevor Noah. You probably have to be South African or at least from Africa to appreciate his pre TV show comedy.

Jim Jeffries. The fact that he's admitted to suffering depression & insecurity & the like. Yeah... nah. Sod Jim Jeffries. I won't be subscribing to his newsletter.

I'm from Africa, I didn't know him but I watched the show posted in this thread.
It made me smile a couple of times but that's it. What I appreciated the most in his show is that it was easy to understand even with my medium English listening level.

I watched his new show on Comedy Central-"Trigger Warning"-I laughed my ass off! His intro was some Trump jokes( low hanging fruit), but after that he was fucking hilarious! If you get a chance, bear with the show the first 5 minutes then give it an honest listen-it was really good!Sometimes if we put the politics aside and just enjoy the show some times you get surprised. I am recording his show weekly now with the DVR.
