Skin color is polygenic, and the top alleles most associated with skin color appear to be more or less codominant (light alleles nor dark alleles are dominant over each other).

This should be obvious, since the skin color of F1 (first generation) hybrids between the F0 of un-admixed very dark-skinned black people and un-admixed very light-skinned white people come out very consistently brown, with little variance.

If dark-alleles were dominant, the F1 off-spring would come out very dark (e.g. very-dark-skinned parent homozygote dominant across the board) and/or with large variance in outcomes ("" heterozygote across the board)--but they don't, they come out consistently brown, like Obama.

It is only between two admixed parents that the F2 off-spring start to have substantial variance in skin color.

This has nothing do due with dominance, it has to do with re-sampling of gametes and the variance that results.

Let's pretend skin color is dictated by one-locus, with each allele codominant to each other. In our experiment we have 100 (or any arbitrary large number) parents WW for white-skin and the other 100 parents BB for black skin, and mating pairs are all one WW and the other BB.

F1 generation will thus be all BW, and 100% of them will be brown.
Now let's do this experiment again with F1 for F2.

Now there will be 25% WWs, 50% BWs, and 25% BBs for 25% white-skin, 50% brown, and 25% black-skin.

If you add more hypothetical loci, the proportions change (and you'll need to add more shades, like Mocha, Beige, etc.) but the illustration is the same. F1-generation are all heterozygote and brown, and in F2, across-the-board homozygotes for dark-skin and white-skin can still be seen.

About five loci explain a substantial amount to most of the variation in skin color between blacks and whites.

This is why two brown people can occasionally have very light-skinned children or very dark-skinned children in countries like the Dominican Republic. Again, has nothing to do with dominance, but re-sampling of gametes.

In general, dominance effects are far overrated due to grade-school to undergraduate genetics focus on Punnett Squares and Mendel's green and yellow pea-pods or whatnot.

Additive effects are far more important, especially in complex traits, like in height and IQ.

Another important notion is that men tend to be darker than children and women in pigmentation, holding genotype(s) constant.

Heh - no reason to be disappoint. I know next to nothing about the topic - only what I have seen and observed occasionally. I used the term dominant in this case knowing that it was rather simplistic. Obviously you have looked more deeply into the issue.

It is really funny to find out that there are over 1.2 bio. Caucasians in the world and another billion of mixed ones. US blacks for example, but also many South Americans have at least some Caucasian DNA input. So this sometimes explains why Boris Becker could have such a daughter with a woman, who is from the Caribbean.

Correction - I know close to nothing about this issue, but vaccines - I studied that extensively. I know more about it than the average doctor out there. I even did presentations on it and have a slide collection on the topic. Plan to do a massive thread on it. I get it - arguing with the other group is useless. There is a ton of information out there. Anyone can look at depth at the arguments of both sides and decide for himself what is most likely true according to his perception. I usually observed that the ones oppposed to what I say refuse to even look at the information, it is as if they reject everything right from the start no matter the source of the info (CDC whistleblowers, actual FDA documents, former medical researchers etc.) and refuse to acknowledge that this could be even remotely true. I observed something similar with men who rejected the Red Pill and Game almost instantly - barely hearing about it instantly made them reject it. It is seldom that someone looked at the arguments and data in detail and then rejected it.

If you are done looking at it and decided that all of the opponents of vaccinations including formerly notable world-class scientists - that they are all cooks and crazy, then fine. I don't argue with people either. Sometimes I present the data that runs counter to the mainstream. Obviously you question something from the mainstream or you would not be here. If you accepted mainstream psychology and sociology then Huffpo would be 100% truth and Game and Red Pill is just manipulation and misogyny.

“Whether you are a Jew, Muslim or Christian — people of faith should not be eradicated from the marketplace simply because they don’t share the same thoughts and ideas that the government is choosing to promote,” Steve told me.

So they have decided to fight for their constitutional rights.

Alliance Defending Freedom filed a federal lawsuit Wednesday alleging East Lansing violated the constitutional rights of the Tennes family.

“All Steve wants to do is sell his food to anyone who wants to buy it, but the city isn’t letting him,” said ADF legal counsel Kate Anderson. “People of faith, like the Tennes family, should be free to live and work according to their deeply held beliefs without fear of losing their livelihood. If the government can shut down a family farmer just because of the religious views he expresses on Facebook — by denying him a license to do business and serve fresh produce to all people — then no American is free.”

Thanks. I will indeed readily admit when I said something unfounded (since I am not well-versed in all topics of life and I am still learning partly from the men on the forum here). Also sometimes I admit that I crossed a line in an emotional outburst - I have no trouble admitting that.

There are topics I think that I am 100% right and others where the range goes from 51% to 99%. Some are only in the could be column. And of course I would never mislead anyone, but instead try to help folk - if you don't agree with a point, then that is fine too.

But you gotta realize one thing - in real life those things seldom matter. When you meet someone in the physical and look each other in the eyes, then you see a being/Soul/individual that you like or occasionally dislike (because the hyper-reality of the net is not even a near copy of your true self in life).

As a side note - two of my closest friends are MDs, which makes a "funny" conversation topic when someone brings up vaccines - heh. That is why I rather lecture them about why not to date a Fat Woman:
