Just manage your collateral level, don't buy into a pump, sell before the pump, buy the dips, refinance loans with better rates.
This month alone I've had margin trading days of +10BTC, +16BTC, +5BTC, +33BTC, probably others I forgot.
It makes sense to caution guys about margin trading because as you suggest there are greater potentials - which also means potentials for downside, too.
With margin trading you can lose more than 100%, and lose it quickly, with regular trading, you can only lose 100% - but maybe the upside potential could be quite greater than 100% - or at least getting decent appreciation becomes possible too, whether that is 6% or 20% or some other number that a guy may find reasonable.
Investing in cryptos is already risky, and adding margin onto that compounds the risk - even though it could also pay off handsomely, if you develop a system to do it correctly or are lucky.
I think that there are a lot less risky ways to ensure pretty decent returns without necessarily relegating to .03%, including engaging in forms of strategic buying on dips and selling as the price rises and dollar cost averaging of the assets that are expected to appreciate in the long run - yes, depending in part on a guy's timeline, too. Nice to get quick returns, but sometimes guys may not want to spend time and effort to monitor and to learn a lot of trading skills (and especially margin trading skills)

Key to margin trading is managing the collateral level and refinancing the interest rates.
I will concede the point that you cannot lose more than 100%.
Look you do not get concessions from me very often... hahahahaha
Probably, I am just expressing my concern in a non-precise manner, but the point that I was attempting to make is that there are a lot of costs including interest and including that you can lose 100% of your bet much quicker, and the coin does not even need to go to zero.
In traditional trading without leveraging, your coin would have to go to zero before you would lose 100%.
I suppose my main contention with your post is any suggestion that you could be making that guys should engage in margin trading, in order to increase their profits. Sure, in the end, I am not opposed to increasing profits, but such increasing profits comes at considerable increasing risk and also learning curve and time consumption considerations....
Also, I am wondering if you suggest that guys practice with small amounts first, or should they just go in there balls to the walls? hahahaha..

Speaking of scam bullshit. I just bought Storj through the ICO - it's still going on. You can buy 1/.50cents. Right now it's trading at 1/.60 cents on Poloniex. Doing this just to arbitrage and make a quick buck.
Gonna take me a few days to make my 20% - which is like an eternity in pump and dump land. 20% usually in five minutes.
Armogan, keep your idiotic statements to yourself. If you do not think cryptocurrency is an excellent opportunity to make money, fair enough, but find another venture more to your liking. Ethereum (and Bitcoin, Dash, Monero, Litecoin, ZCash) have legitimate concepts behind it, mainly the blockchain technology and the fact that many people/companies/organizations have begun to embrace them. Cryptocurrency is that opportunity where people can make big gains and do so riding a wave where the technology can be used to make financial transactions faster, safer, more secure and without major inconveniences.

Quote:I want to get into mining too, I could build a rig or two right now. I just wonder what coins to mine for? How tough is mining for Ether now? And what are some good mining pools? We should make an RVF mining pool or something!
DamienCasanova, I would start with building a mining rig or two and get the hang of how it is like to manage an ethereum rig. It is more difficult than it seems from watching the Youtube videos since you have to literally build the rigs (and put up with buying replacement pieces from time to time).
A good place to start are these sites:
http://www.cryptocompare.com
https://forum.ethereum.org/
Also, feel free to use Startpage.com and look up reddit sites with respect to ethereum mining. Be prepared to spend a good chunk of change to build a rig (at least 2500). Furthermore, with mining, it requires a degree of management and returns don't occur for at least 180 days depending on power usage, rates, etc. However, in the long run, mining has its rewards in that you are not a slave to speculation but rather you produce ethereum.
As for setting up a RooshV mining pool, the big concern is getting around the anonymity to collect funds to establish it. Established pools such as Claymore, ethminer, etc., would be a good start with respect to pool mining.

RE: The Ethereum Thread (the alt coin to Bitcoin)
Quote:It was a reference to the claims that Ethereum is a pump-and-dump. Relax.
Additionally, are you saying that all of the coins in this space have legitimate uses, and aren't being manipulated? I would disagree. You should watch things more closely.
Armogan, fair enough, this is a discussion with respect to the viability of cryptocurrency altcoins, not a flame war. The coins I mentioned in my prior posts are legit because the technology behind them are legit. Now, as for the cryptocurrency "jokers", here are some of them:
Dogecoin: It's shtick is that it has a cute dog as its mascot, the same dog used in memes throughout the web. A penny cryptocurrency if you ask me
PepeCash: This coin is purely satirical and probably tied to the satirical nation of Kekistan (I satirically am part Kekistani myself). How it jumped in value is probably due to someone pumping up its value for the lulz
Gamecredits, BitcoinDark, Ethereum Classic: These are derived from legit coins caused probably by hard forks in the past but dont have any real value and should be seen as akin to the pump and dump stocks in the OTC market.
Therefore, when I mention cryptocurrency, my attention is towards those coins that are legitimately eyed by companies/people/organizations/groups who see value in it via usage as legitimate currency. I hope this helps.
