It's a dance they're doing with the law....they invented something that gave a feeling similar to weed that there was no law against (hard to ban something that doesn't exist yet). They eventually get around to banning it...and the makers tweak the molecule a bit into something slightly different that is even less like weed, but is legal. The state bans that, they keep tweaking the chemistry into weirder and weirder shit to stay in front of the law, and the next thing you know, you smoke some "synthetic weed" and God knows what kind of trip you're going on.

That is not weed at all. That is some kind of toxic brew that is being also sold around Eastern Europe and FSU countries. Essentially you have a wide range of toxic substances added into that give you various reactions - think of it more like sniffing glue than smoking weed. The media should come out with a full expose instead of focusing on fake news or calling it "synthetic" weed which is misleading. If they destroy the image of the drug, then no one is going to buy it. You can go into a hardware store and smoke some glue yourself that you put on some grass.

Banning various forms of this will be a pain in the butt - a national PR campaign would to 100 times more good, but I don't expect the ruling elite to care about those things. The war on drugs is one bullshit decision after another so why should this be any different?

Kind of like back in prohibition with the nasty wood chip alcohol causing people to go blind.

Easier to just let the original thing be sold openly then allowing these disgusting chemical mixes in the open.

Yeah they're big in mining towns becasue real weed shows up on drug tests and will get you sacked.

I tried some once when I was working away. A guy rolled up a joint of synthetic and I hit it like I would a normal one - nice deep puffs. A minute later I'm all edgy and feeling shitty...we're still passing it around and it comes back to me and I just said "Nah, I've just gotta go chill for a while"...went and lay down on my swag and focused on not-dying for half an hour till it passed. It was very unpleasant, to say the least.

A heap of strains get banned, they change one molecule and remarket it. It's possible the original strain was OK, but by the time theyve changed it 100 times to get around legal issues, who knows what it's going to do to you? Thats a risk Im no longer willing to take, and to think its only on the market because of some stupid prohibition of the real thing, that we know all about.

It's not much of invention going on. I read a lab analysis of the ingredients of some of them - the list is sometimes 20-50. You will find rat poison in small doses, glue residue, some plant resin for burning, tobacco and a solid number of other ingredients that you can buy in your local hardware store. It is usually tested out for instant truly dangerous reactions by some meth-heads - if those guys don't die or get instantly a bad reaction, then it is called a success and rolled out.

Know your drugs - I won't even try most cocaine in the world, because it is laced with speed and other drugs. Pure cocaine is one thing, but the crap they put in many countries is just mind-boggling. Be careful with your drugs.

I personally will not try the overwhelming majority of drugs (and even plenty of alcohols), because I know what it leads up to and what the side effects are.

That's why you won't see me on the news driving over cute girls, causing tragedies and then jumping around like a crazed monkey. I am for liberalization of most drugs like weed, cocaine and limited open sale of heroin on recipe.

But I for one would come down super-hard on anyone trying to sell "synthetic weed" - you can even nab them on selling poison sold as a "recreational drug". There would be 5 SWAT teams sent your way before you can sell 20 of those - I would give meth-heads high rewards for ousting drug dealers - they would put them out of business fast and simple.
