By the way, a $300 or even a $400 correction at this time, would really help me.. to rebalance and use some of this excess cash.. .. so dumping 10k coins could be a good thing... I am not sure if the bears have enough will power to attempt such...

Thanks for providing that video, Stun..

Yeah, it is only 10 minutes and Andreas makes a lot of very decent points in a way that should be understandable to folks.

1st off, DD = due diligence

2nd, it seems that BTC is doing well (even establishing itself as the crypto gold coin wrt it's value versus gold). However, we will see what happens to BTC in the long run. I still maintain my mature position with respect to it and think other currencies are better long term values such as ETH only because when Goldman Sachs wants something their way, they will more often than not get it.

O.k... Each of us made our points, and even if we do not agree, we made them.

Maybe I have a hard time letting sleeping dogs lie; however, let me do it... ..

When it comes to unit price, people get caught up on what is the unit price, but in the end the market cap is a better indicator of overall value (or bang for the buck).

When it comes to goldman sachs, governments and banking institutions.. sure they are able to get their way a lot, and frequently their will be trade offs and happenings outside of their control... .. and it is a whole hell of a lot more difficult to control the direction of decentralized systems and then the whole way that markets play around... manipulators can only manipulate so much and sometimes even the manipulator has to go with the trend... My last point relates to putting lipstick on a pig... , and you can have all the fancy attempts to prep, but if there are issues with the underlying asset, you are not going to get rid of the problems merely because you got golman sachs behind you.

According to this global crypto market cap chart, the cryptosphere has been worth more than $10bn since May 29th, 2016.

It briefly broke above $20 the first week of January this year, but didn't fully break that resistance until February 21st. Doubling its market cap took crypto 268 days.

Getting to $30bn took 63 more days (April 25th).

At the time of writing we're at $38.6. If we breach $40 by Sunday we'll have added another $10 billion dollars in less than two weeks.

$10 to $20 in 268 days.

$20 to $40 in ~80.

Who wants to bet crypto doubles again before June?

I certainly don't have that level of confidence regarding the less than 30 day timeline that you describe.

Yes, it does seem as if we continue to be on an exponential upward trajectory... and the trajectory currently appears to have momentum and surely what you say seems to be within the realm of reasonable possibilities, but going to $77.2 billion by or before June 1, does not sound like it has the greatest of odds... maybe it could be around 50%, but I am not even sure about that...

Call me a pussy for not having conviction?

I tend to be inclined to vote against such high levels of confidence - however, I question whether, I personally would want to take the opposite side of that kind of a bet either.... unless the bet was merely some token amount.. and just for fun. I would mostly be betting against that level of confidence, but i would not be opposed to the prediction coming true, that's for sure.

If I were to take the opposite side of such a bet, I would bet something like .001 BTC (which is currently $1.47) and I would buy enough extra BTC to cover my side of the bet. Maybe I would buy .005 BTC to cover my side of the bet with a cushion (.001 BTC bet), and consider my bet as a kind of hedging. If I lost the bet, then I would pay the .001BTC, but it would be pretty likely that my BTC would be much more valuable, if I end up losing the bet.

If I were to win the bet, then I receive another .001BTC from you, but in those circumstances, I would not know how much my BTC would be worth except I know that the crypto market has not doubled and I have bought some additional BTC, so therefore I could end up having .006 BTC, that could even be worth less than what I bought them for? But in the spirit of fun, I would be willing to take the opposite side of the bet, because I feel pretty confident that I could sufficiently hedge and just to stick any guy to the conviction of his proclamations.... hahahahahahahaha.... Isaac....

You want to bet .001BTC? Or we could bet a combination of cryptos, especially if I were betting against you, then I would have to buy whatever crypto it is that we are betting... and I might get stuck with some crap crypto. In that regard, I personally feel best with a BTC bet, but I do have access to a few other cryptos within accounts that I already maintain.

If someone else prefers to craft a better bet, then I would be o.k. to see a couple guys with even stronger convictions battle it out. I would not mind taking some kind of opposite side of a bet that involves ETH.. hahahahaha, just for fun..... but I would prefer to have the bet in BTC so i don't have to buy any ETH.. but I do have access to buying ETH too.

I want to see if I can predict btc's price close again and make it 3 out of 3 years right. For 2017, btc will end above $1825. This thread will have over 1 million views.

I have doubts about the views aspect of this above SunW prediction coming true - however, this thread has finally gotten on the RVF statistics in terms of the top 15 threads with replies - we are still considerably low on the views, so far.

There is a major tipping point emerging with cryptos as a whole. I have been doing a deep dive into cryptos and blockchain technologies and one thing is certain these will revolutionize global commerce and be accelerated by cloud and IoT growth.

I was never a big fan of BTC due to its shadowy beginnings... A character e-named Satoshi created BTC which became the darling of the dark web.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethereum mentions quite a few innovative applications... Solving real world business problems with counts that change daily... this is the key to future adoption... Last count and counts change daily there were over 700 crypto currencies and many block chain projects.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cryptocurrency good General overview and history.

I was going to write up a data sheet however demand for rational analysis and objective forecasts is yuuge so I am working on an ebook instead.

One topic I have not seen is cryptos as solutions to mega trends... I do cyber security work on legacy and cloud based systems and no less than multi trillion dollars assests Fidelity investments is doing blockchain innovations based on ethereum ... This will change every thing... Stay tuned.

We will have to see about some of this - because one problem with both the overall framework of your post, and Isaac's post lumping all cryptos together and predicting overall exponential growth is the seemingly built in assumption that there are fundamentals in the concept of cryptocurrencies in general that are stronger than the pump and dump and scamming that is going on in the ICO space...

We are likely going to witness some phenomenal failures in the crypto space as well, so we are going to have to stay tuned with those developments and see whether the crypto space as a whole is going continue to exponentially grow, have some overall ups and downs, and/or have some disparity in growth - with growth and decline going on in considerably different ways depending on coin fundamentals (including either scamminess or technical flaws or even governance issues and lack thereof).

That's all fine and dandy that you happen to be bearish about bitcoin while being bullish about the crypto space overall, and so, yeah, we do not have to agree about these kinds of perspectives in order to have reasonable discussions about various happenings in this space that relates to bitcoin.. and remember the title of this thread..

And, maybe even your post might be some other thread... because bitcoin remains the same while a lot of these other cryptos are a bit different.. .

There is some kind of centralized decentralization going on with other coins.. and so, there is potential for pump and potential for value, and it can be difficult to lump them all together too, even if they have all kinds of "innovations" that are taking place in the diversified space.

Remember one of the great values of bitcoin remains its immutable decentralized and secure value storage and transfer... so some of these other projects might bring other values, but are they going to compete with bitcoin as a package of concepts that cover what bitcoin has to offer? that is immutable decentralized and secure value storage and transfer

We have a hybrid of banker types who are coming into the bitcoin space.. and changing dynamics to "blockchain," and there are a lot of ways to make money in that space and some of the projects are diversions and some of them are related to bitcoin and some may come back to bitcoin. It is going to take a while to see how some of this plays out with some folks seeming to jump on board regarding the concept of "blockchain" but not regarding the concept of "bitcoin"..

By the way, new Ethereum thread created for all of you guys who have hard-ons for ethereum.

https://www.rooshvforum.com/thread-62546...pid1563133

Definitely, I appreciate the thread, but one funny thing is that the OP feels necessary to describe Ethereum as the alt coin to bitcoin, even in these times in which Ethereum has around 1/3 of bitcoin's market cap.. so you would imagine that no explanation (in terms of bitcoin) should be needed, AMIRITE?

Also, I googled and I saw that EEA could mean Enterprise Ethereum Alliance - which would be a great discussion folks for guys wanting to get rich through such ethereum knowledge sharing and upcoming richness..

https://www.reddit.com/r/ethereum/commen..._alliance/

Good luck to all of you soon to be rich ethereum guys. GO forth and make Ethereum the GREATEST!!!

I'll see you again in those expected future sad times when Ethereum has 70% and Bitcoin only has 20% of the crypto market... and you can laugh at me and tell me that you told me so, and I will just accept defeat in a supposed competition in which I had not thought that I entered.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=...sg18834452

I think that part of the point is that we are currently on a 9 day streak of highs and the record seems to be 14 days.. and if we stay above $1,228.52 for another 5 days, then we will be in new record territory..

It is not necessarily an easy task, but it is not out of the question based on how we have arrived at our current bullish price point.

Argue all you will about the loss of market share.. I am feeling that we have decent odds for getting somewhere close to 14 days.. although my fingers will be crossed for the next approximate 4.5 days... and let's see what happens? Can we stay above $1,228.52 for that length of time? What are the odds? Maybe a bit less than 50/50 but still pretty good? If we stay above for a longer period than 5 days, then would that not be even more bullish than I am attempting to characterize?

How do you paint this information as negative, unless you are just sitting on the sidelines with bated breath hoping and hoping and hoping that we get a price drop in order that you can assert, "I told you so; bitcoin is broken."

hahahahaha.. .. doesn't anyone agree with me that trolls (aka bitcoin naysayers) are goofballs (I won't name any names), and I am sorry that a lot of guys following this thread have some of these negative feelings in regards to bitcoin.. and the trolls waiting and waiting and waiting for negative bitcoin news? which will come sooner or later, but they have been waiting since $890 in late March 2017.. and before that they were waiting since $600 in August 2016 and before that they were waiting since $400 in April 2016 and before that they were waiting since $250 in September 2015... .. but.. we still be in a bull market.. am I NOT right?.

Recall this issue of the $1,228.52. I am not sure about the exact resolution if, for example, BTC prices never again were to go below $1,228.52... then we would continue to be on an UPPITY streak. Seems very unlikely, but not impossible... yet I remain a bit uncertain what that would be called? Maybe would have to redefine the situation? Let's say for example prices get past the upper $1500s resistance point, and then get into the $1800 to $2000 resistance point, there could reasonably be a correction that does not quite go down below $1,228.52.

Now, if prices were to go above and beyond $2k, then it becomes even less likely to correct down to below $1,228.52... I know maybe I am being a bit pre-mature - but it is hard not to get excited with this ongoing rocket ship movement in prices and setting new ATHs every day..

Haven麓t paid much attention to crypto last two years. As i mentioned i sold out all my coins 2016 at around 600usd/btc i belive.

Given the latest price surge, i am both excited about cryptos, and a bit frustrated i had to sell out to purchase an apartment.

Can someone weight in whats driving the latest price surge. I always felt like the latest block-halving would gradually shift the demand/supply ratio in a way that the price would surge/stabilize on a new level. New development/interest would come on top of this.

Not having spent much time staying up to date on the latest development around cryptos, my take is still something like this.
- There is definatly a place for cryptos.
- Cryptos are not easy enough for the everyday users. related to the everyday user loosing their cryptos far to easily.
- The scalability problem has still not been sorted out(3transactions/second). This needs to be sorted out for cryptos to compete with VISA/Mastercard(2000transaction/second).
- I find the network fascinating, and wasteful at the same time. Spending huge amounts of resources on 麓miners麓to do more or less mindless calculations in order to generate crypto. There麓s hopefully a better way in the future.

If you attempt to lump the consideration of all cryptos together you are going to come to various wrong conclusions with an inability to differentiate bitcoin from them.

Accordingly, despite the infighting in bitcoin and the likely ongoing and never ending fighting aspect of bitcoin, you are not going to get away from it's continuing strong fundamentals that have not been undermined by some of the varying attempts to change governance through purported hardforks and stupid ass "scaling" issues.

In the end, the importance of the paradigm shifting nature of bitcoin is going to continue to differentiate it from varying wanna be competitors.. namely the immutable decentralized secure ability to store and transfer value... A system that has never been seen by mankind.. and that is why it is called a paradigm shift rather than just some neat invention.

So, even if bitcoin is the shit, we are still going to experience ups and downs in the price and manipulation etc.. but also once you get a certain direction (here we have up), it sometimes can be difficult for manipulators to change the price direction when there are networking effects that continue to cause buying pressures.

Maybe there are some guys left here that have additional bitcoin focused explanations?

Some RVF guys think that alt coins are wagging the dog, when instead it is like a symbiotic relationship, and bitcoin is waging this tail.. even if such bitcoin market dynamics feeds off of the alt coin pump too.

Any RVF guys still believe in the power of bitcoin? Anyone? I know that there are a few RVF guys that believe that bitcoin is the wagger rather than the wagged. but they don't tend chime in too much.. .should I name some names or will someone say something? hahahahaha

JJG, there are plenty of people who believes in bitcoin. On a day like this when it drives through 1500USD, i would imagine there to be plenty of them.

But you have to agree there are lots of similarities between the cryptos, where they share many of the same positives and negatives.
I referred to cryptos in my previous post, as the subjects i were discussing were all related to pretty much all cryptos in general.

I'm not really trying to denigrate anyone because of some of my assertions - but part of the issue continues with the ongoing dilution of the bitcoin topic by attempting to make too many false equivalencies and to suggest that someone happens to be stuck on bitcoin.

I personally am stuck on bitcoin until it is not doing what it has already been designed to do.. and that is the immutable secure censorship resistant storage and transfer of value.

Sure there are imitators.. but we got not take our eyes off of the prize.

Sure there could be a 50% decrease in the price of bitcoin and 100% increase in some alt coin.. .. a lot of things can happen... but at this moment, bitcoin is the shit.. and it is not merely a question about it's price going up. We could be at $890 (we were there only a bit over 1 month ago) and bitcoin would still be the shit.

Bitcoin is the shit, not just because of its current high price.

"I personally am stuck on bitcoin until it is not doing what it has already been designed to do.. and that is the immutable secure censorship resistant storage and transfer of value."

I would argue on this one.
A typewriter was designed to increase typing speed over handwriting. It still does to this very day. That does not mean it麓s the best option in 2017.

Bitcoin being the original, it carries name recognition. I seen a lot of ups and down. And the overall trend is bitcoin is less volatile in both direction. And i think the thought process can briefly summarized like this "Bitcoin goes down?! If bitcoin can't make it. Then defiantly alt-coins can't make it! Sell sell sell!". Visa verca for upward movements.

I still think bitcoin is a good investment, if you want to take less risk(relatively speaking), and are satisfied with less return(relative) on your investment.

That麓s why i plan on invest in both bitcoin and perhaps an alt with technology that interest me when my finances picks back up.
