1. Gym - I got the 7 day free trial at True Fitness in Asoke

2. Coworking Space - I'll try out Bangkok 63's facility and maybe Hubba in Ekkamai

3. Outdoor Gyms - I like the one in Phrom Phong because it's close, will also check out school gym in Ekkamai

4. Meetup.com - Perhaps I'll attend a language exchange

5. This Bangkok thread - PM me if you wanna hangout or do some daygame

Balance health club and WE fitness also gives free trials. But the best gym in Bangkok imo is muscle factory but they don't have any free trial and a bit far if you stay in Asoke.

Muscle factory is ok but for the price I would want air conditioning and a bit of a better location. Nice equipment though.

The Racquet Club is the best gym I've been to in Bangkok. Amazing facilities and you get to play a ton of sports too with your membership. Location is not the greatest as it's deep inside a soi in Phrom Phong. If i lived in Thonglor or around that area it would be high up my list.

There is a new gym called Bogan Fitness. It's in Soi 85. It's only 150 baht to join and 39 baht each time. Though the machines and weights are all rusty and it's ran by Russian mafia. Be careful.

They have a hoop but you can't really play because it's next to tennis courts.

Benjasiri park or ABAC uni (lots of street games) is the place for bball.

Racquet club is great if you play a lot of spots too as you can't find too many squash/badminton courts in lower Sukhumvit unless you head to On-nut. Tennis courts are usually full all the time so doubt you'd be able to play my basketball.

There are regular basketball games at Ekkamai International school every Tuesday starting around 6 or 7. 20+ players with a lot of westerns. Not sure how you'd go about getting into this game, I assume they have a meetup or you could just rock up one day.

^ I really don't understand this world. The anglosphere is bad enough with its nanna-state laws, making most places an utter bore to live in. Now a third world country wants to take away the reason millions of tourists bring so much money to their economy, and the sole source of income or being able to afford food for many locals, all to "prioritise order and hygiene". Agree, it's bullshit. The good news is that it sounds like they're being somewhat haphazard in the enforcement, so hopefully it won't wipe the street food out completely. I also read something about this a month or so ago where it said they were looking at going to Singapore-style hawker centers, which wouldn't be the same but would be better than nothing.

I used the one in Lumpini park (metro from Asok, then a short walk) on my last stay in Bangkok. Old, worn equipment, but a nice relaxing and quiet spot. I liked going there every day before noon.

The article I've read said it would be implemented at the end of this year, so not just now. However, a Thai girl I know, just told me that the governor said he never made those announcements/it was miscommunication. So I guess they are already backing down after the storm of protests about the stupidity of this idea.

I don't know about other areas but just wanted to confirm this operation was carried out around the On Nut area. It's a lot easier to walk than before but less stalls around. Some have relocated into designated areas but it's not the same.
