Yeah another 40% rise in BTC price and market cap does seem to be doable within the next year or so... but we also know that nothing is guaranteed in bitcoinlandia.
Also, what you going to do once the price gets there? Cannot just sit back and say that profits are all "on paper" unless you are comfortable that such a price is going to be sustainable - which it does not seem as if bitcoin's ongoing volatility is going away any time soon.

I am not an expert at all. However, I have done a bit research and were lucky enough to double my initial investment in BTC.
Let's be honest, no one really knows what the future will bring. When you read some older posts in other forums, you realise, there is a lot of speculation and most of it didn't happen.
I do invest in cryptocurrency longterm as I believe in the future of cryptocurrency. However, I have no idea, which cryptocurrency will be a winner at the end.
I wouldn't recommend a good friend to invest in the same way I do, because the future is just not clear enough (for me). However, the rewards, when one of the cryptocurrency I invested is skyrocketing, can be very nice.
If one crashes and goes to zero, well, I would be a bit annoyed. But it wouldn't have any major impact on my life.

To have a high percentage of alts is probably a good idea when BTC dominance is sinking like a rock.

Feeling topped out, yet?
Not this cat.
I'm still sticking with my earlier suggestion that getting passed $1,200 is an upwards sign - and likely next resistance point in the mid $1300s, and the price action of the past few days is causing some additional confidence that we are experiencing ongoing decent support at $1,200.. and that we are sufficiently getting past that price point...
You know the saying that previous resistance levels turns into support (once past it)?
Something for intraday trading for me is the VWAP. This plays out a lot on traditional instruments, and also for Bitcoin - but it's important to know when to judge the safe reversible point to the VWAP.
Another thing, account844, when you consider the volume matter, and this most recent forced dip from $1210 to $1141 - when you look at the volume in the past 12 to 24 hours, including the dip, such dip was accomplished on relatively mediocre volume - which is seeming to me that a serious dump or a serious dip has not yet begun - which either means that the real bearwhales are not quite ready for the price to go down... in other words, my tentative thinking is that the price battle has not yet begun..
I don't know.
Sure it is possible that we could be in a kind of fake out (which is also known as a bull trap), but I don't know - I am still getting a sense that we could still be on our way up... but we gotta see, again, if we return above $1200 - maybe the $1,210 arena... ?
My point is that the volume of the pump or the dump has to be a bit greater of a number for me to really think that it is serious and that a price battle has actually commenced and in this case that we would be reversing from UP to DOWN... but such reversal does not seem to be the case - which could mean that this was kind of baby renegade dip - and the real bearwhales have not joined in... because they want more up from here.. rather than down...
let's see? another 24 hours? maybe weekend action?
Edit: By the way - between $1188 and $1190 as I type this.
I think that BTC trading strangeness of the past 10 hours or more has been kind of supporting my theory that there are several Bearwhales who are not on the same page regarding whether BTC's price should go up or should go down - they are not sharing memos.
So, yeah, could be the beginning of a meaningful price battle. We have significant dumps going on through Bitstamp, and we have pumps going on through Bitfinex.
I was starting to think that meant we are probably going up, but the longer that the dumps occur on Stamp is going to begin to cause me to think that maybe Stamp is going to lead the way and the other exchanges will follow. Sure I am torn about this because it is not easy to know what is going to happen while in the middle of it. However, afterwards we can come back and explain what happened because we will have more information at that subsequent point in time.

In other words, you continue to proclaim your same assertion without backing it up in any kind of meaningful way.
The mere showing of a graph that shows that bitcoin has less of an overall market share does not really prove any of the points that you have been trying to make...
I provided facts and logic as well, but your facts and logic do not even come close to addressing my facts and logic, and I am not even sure if it is worth the time and effort to attempt to repeat my points.
A couple of my simple points were:
1) the overall crypto space market cap is growing, so even though bitcoin might have less of an overall dominant position (as you assert), it does not really matter because bitcoin is still strong within that space and brings it's own unique flavor of innovations.
2) Bitcoin has been in an upwards price projection for nearly 20 months (from mid $200s to our present price), and since the beginning of the year, it has been continuing to set all time high daily weighted averages, and this is a kind of unprecedented phenomenon in bitcoin's history that seems to show bitcoin's strength and not it's weakness.
Anyhow, your simplified graph and lack of explanation does not even seem to engage or interact regarding these two points, and probably I could come up with more points, too, but it seems to be a waste of time when you just repeat simple baloney with out really backing it up with explanation nor attempting to engage in any kind of substantive and meaningful way..

I don't know how long it is going to take to resolve this ongoing situation of the bearwhale(s) on Stamp continuing to dump, and none of the other exchanges seem to be following.
In the last couple of days, we have had several dumps bring the price from the $1180s to the lower $1160s and then a couple times to the lower $1140s and then twice (in the past 4 hours ) to the lower $1150s .
It's like everyone else is continuing to ignore the Stamp dumps, and maybe the bearwhale on Stamp happens to be much too small - and if such bearwhale was bigger (s/he) could put some coins on other exchanges and coordinate such a dump in order that other exchanges might follow. In the meantime, such Stamp bearwhale is likely losing a lot of money, if no one is following or if no one follows in the end.
In the end, I do not know what is going to happen, because sometimes such dumps seem to be unsuccessful, at first, but in the end, they result in the rest of the market to follow... a kind of continued eating a way at support.. but if no one else agrees, then sometimes it just emboldens buyers to buy, the stamp dumps lose credibility and the buyers end up pushing the price upwards.
I remain a bit torn in my thinking about which way the whole market will end up going in the short term, but I also remain a bit inclined to consider this matter as resolving against the Bitstamp whale.. which means we are going to go up - at least in terms of the Stampwhale getting on board with the rest of the exchanges..
Contrary readings of the short-term situation, anyone?
