My go-to source for wholesale prices (I used to have my FFL and know what such prices look like) for 15 years has been CDNN in texas. Amazing prices (mostly), flat-rate shipping (comes in really handy for cases of ammo), and excellent, engaged sales staff.

From what I can tell, they operate on a Dollar Store model: buy up huge lots from others going out of business or liquidating excess stock, then resell at below market prices (hence, their selection of goods offered is always changing). Only once or twice have I seen something higher priced than I could find elsewhere.

A year ago, when the sporting goods stores' shelves were bereft of 22lr, and even all of the Big Name websites were sold out of everything but blanks, CDNN had plenty, and was selling it for less than anywhere else I could think to look, including Walmart (who was also sold out both locally and online). Not crap rounds, either, but Remington hollow-points. Bonus: no sales tax. Love those guys.

It's come down in price a lot lately. I've seen it for as low as $15 a box in the last few months. The only problem is with the 20 round magazine, you can burn through it pretty quickly.

Been thinking about grabbing a pocket pistol. Gun shop near me has Taurus 738. Anyone have experience with them? I'd love to grab a Beretta Pico but heard they are shit. The others I was looking at was a SKYY CPX2 or whatever it's called or a Ruger LC9 or LCR

A friend recently got a TCP and we tried it out. It's so awkward and snappy that it would be really difficult to get quick follow-up shots if you needed to use it in self-defense. One-handed is the least painful way to shoot it. With any pocket automatic pistol you're going to run into reliability problems due to the size. Even the Glock 42 and 43 need to have a few hundred rounds put through them before they loosen up.

I am not a revolver guy but I love my LCR. It's a little bulkier than other .38's on the market but it is a lot more comfortable to shoot (not to mention more accurate.) For concealed carry one of the other advantages of a revolver is it can be used while hidden inside a bag or jacket pocket. For pocket carry/back up gun use I'd go with the LCR.

I would love an LCR as a pocket pistol. It has all the advantages of my S&W 642 snubby, and a polymer frame on top.

Unfortunately, it's still just a little wide compared to the 380 autos (my current pocket carry). Problem is, when I carry my 380 in my pocket (hidden in a holster that makes it print like a wallet), lint gets everywhere inside it. Unless I clean all the time, this is bad: the lint could cause a mini-jam (failure to cycle properly) rather easily in a tiny auto, whereas a revolver wouldn't even notice the lint.

Further, pocket carry occasionally causes my slide release to pop. I've had to get into the habit of regularly squeezing the magazine into place, just in case. Not an issue with a wheelgun.

I've yet to meet anyone, visiting the USA, who went shooting for the first time and didn't find it to be a great experience.

True about the date idea. Kind of like a horror movie. Fear and excitement will cause her to want to relax the brain by doing something familiar and pleasurable, yet she's already quite amped up, aka aroused.

Also, you gain points by being unafraid of the big bad gun, and there are dozens of times for pushpull teasing and praising.

She may also feel like she just did something "bad", and with that barrier broken she may want to continue being a bad girl.

I know this is the handgun thread, but don't forget to equip yourself with riles and shotguns too. There's so much fun to be had blasting clays with the 12 gauge. Some of the best weekends I've ever recalled are with my buddies and brother shooting out in the wilderness and seeing that orange puff of powder as the hot lead connects.

I just bought a new 3rd gen Glock 19 for my first gun online on Sunday. I'm really excited to try it out at the range. I went to the range for the first time on Saturday and used a Sig 9mm. I was looking at a handful of brands in the shop and both the guy at the counter and the range officer suggested the Glock 19. Their used ones were the same price as a new one online. I went through Gun Broker which is like an eBay for firearms.

I want to get a rifle and shotgun eventually but I'm going to wait until I'm competent with pistols before moving on to those.

I strongly recommend installing either a Glock or Vickers Tactical extended slide stop on your G19. It's a cheap part, like $10-15 (Glock one is $10 on Brownells). You'll probably want a knowledgeable friend to install it if possible, though it's honestly not that big a deal to install it yourself if you're handy.

The Vickers is better IMO but I like the Glock one too. It makes a huge difference in getting reliably fast reloads. The stock slide stop sucks balls on non-competition Glock models.

Another good, cheap upgrade is a Jentra grip plug. It's $7 on Brownells, dead simple to install--I think it just snaps in these days, it used to have a small screw--and again it makes a huge difference in reliable reloads. The cavity behind the magazine well on the butt of the pistol tends to catch magazines, and putting the plug in smooths things out a great deal.

Other than better sights, I never bother doing anything to Glocks but those two cheap upgrades and a $1 trigger job with Flitz. But the trigger job is probably beyond what you want to get into right away, since it requires disassembling the whole frame.

Glocks are good because they're good. Learn to shoot well with them, and leave it at that.

FWIW, I sold my $1000 SIG, which I adored, because I put rounds on target better with my $450 Glock.
