Mary Tyler Moore Dead at 80
Actress Mary Tyler Moore helped glamorize the "strong, independent woman" trope by being one of the first women to literally wear the pants on TV in "The Dick Van Dyke Show," (as opposed to wearing more traditional feminine attire like skirts and dresses) and later helped to (unfortunately) glamorize the career woman lifestyle on her own 70s sitcom "The Mary Tyler Moore Show."

http://www.tmz.com/2017/01/25/mary-tyler-moore-dead/

TMZ Wrote:Mary Tyler Moore -- the television icon who charmed America with comedic brilliance and charisma on her hugely successful '70s show -- died in a Connecticut hospital ... TMZ has learned.

MTM's longtime rep, Mara Buxbaum, issued a statement to TMZ saying, "Today, beloved icon, Mary Tyler Moore, passed away at the age of 80 in the company of friends and her loving husband of over 33 years, Dr. S. Robert Levine."
"A groundbreaking actress, producer, and passionate advocate for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Mary will be remembered as a fearless visionary who turned the world on with her smile."

We're told Mary had been on a respirator for more than a week.
Mary -- who battled diabetes and underwent brain surgery in 2011 -- became famous after starring on the "The Dick Van Dyke Show" from 1961 to 1966. She dazzled her way to 7 successful seasons on "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" from 1970 to 1977, decimating skeptics who viewed her show as destined to fail.

She earned an Oscar nomination for best actress after crushing it in the 1980 flick "Ordinary People."
The 7 time Emmy winner began her career modeling in a commercial for "Happy Hotpoint" as a tiny elf that danced on appliances.
Mary, who in 1986 was inducted into the Television Hall of Fame, starred in well over 10 films and wrote 2 memoirs. She married 3 times ... forming power couple status when she married TV exec Grant Tinker in 1962.
Her only son, Richard, from her first marriage to Richard Meeker, died from an accidental gunshot in 1980.

Mary was 80.

#RIP

Edit: It isn't that I consider an actress' death in itself to be thread worthy (although "death threads" already exist for both Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds) but since Mary Tyler Moore was one of the first women on television to (directly/indirectly) help promote feminism, I thought she'd potentially provoke interesting discussion.

RE: Mary Tyler Moore Dead at 80
Yeah, you can thank this show and few others like "All in the Family", "The Jeffersons", "Welcome Back Kotter" and "Maude" for opening the door to all the shit-lib propaganda that followed it.

They had a huge cultural impact on the US, virtually all of it negative.

But that was the plan all along. The (((creators))) of these shows had a very specific agenda: destroy western culture and replace it with their own Globalist/Consumerist Utopian vision, all controlled by (((them))) and their allies.

Sad to see just how successful they were.

RE: Mary Tyler Moore Dead at 80
^ Completely agree. Speaking of "All in the Family," I still call Rob Reiner "Meathead," he's such an unbearably liberal douchebag.

As for "The Mary Tyler Moore Show," the show's theme song, "Love is All Around" features unmistakably "girl power" infused lyrics:

Love Is All Around Wrote:Who can turn the world on with her smile?
Who can take a nothing day, and suddenly make it
all seem worthwhile?
Well it's you girl, and you should know it
With each glance and every little movement you
show it
Love is all around, no need to waste it
You can have a town, why don't you take it
You're gonna make it after all
You're gonna make it after all
How will you make it on your own?
This world is awfully big, girl this time you're all alone
But it's time you started living
It's time you let someone else do some giving
Love is all around, no need to waste it
You can have a town, why don't you take it
You're gonna make it after all

The show's theme was recently ripped off by CNN's Erica Hill to promote her own show.

http://www.adweek.com/tvnewser/erica-hil...how/307130

Quote:Erica Hill Channels Her Inner Mary Richards for New HLN Show

By A.J. Katz on Oct. 9, 2016

Erica Hill has long been known as someone who can turn the world on with her smile. Now she has the promo to prove it.

Hill makes her return to HLN tomorrow with a new show called On the Story with Erica Hill. The New York-based program will air weekdays from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. ET and will have the network’s west coast-based morning show MichaeLA, hosted by Michaela Pereira, as its lead-in. HLN produced a rather creative promo for On the Story, with Hill playing the role of another popular female newscaster you might recognize. Check it out:

Hill anchored on HLN from 2003 to 2010, later moving to CBS to co-anchor the Early Show, before jumping to NBC News as co-anchor of weekend Today.

Yeah, every aspect of these shows was designed to celebrate chicks for cock-carousel riding and for working as drones for some big company.

At the same time, they mocked traditional families, religion (not Jewish, of course) and especially, white men.

So, how'd that work at for ya, ladies?

Let's pray to Kek that Trump's victory is the beginning of a strong reversal of all the damage done in the last 40+ years by "Progressives" like these.

Here's something that gives me hope Trump's influence will help make movies great again!

http://www.breitbart.com/big-hollywood/2...ded-trump/

Breitbart Wrote:Actor Kumail Nanjiani: ‘Certain Types’ of Films Not Funded Because Hollywood Is ‘Afraid’ of Trump

Stand-up comedian and actor Kumail Nanjiani says he has heard that the election of Donald Trump is making it hard for film studios to get “certain types” of films funded.
“I’ve already heard stories of certain types of movies not getting funded because people are afraid of the President tweeting at them,” Nanjiani told an audience at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival.
“I would much rather be in a happy, peaceful time making terrible art.”

Nanjiani, who’s best known for his role on HBO’s Emmy Award-nominated series Silicon Valley, was also asked “Do you think the next four years are going to be better or worse for the arts?”

“Yeah. I think we’re all going to end up in jail — only half joking,” Nanjiani said.

While the actor didn’t offer any specifics or details about which movies have failed to secure funding because of Trump, the President has certainly influenced show business.

NBC’s Saturday Night Live has found itself in the crosshairs of Trump’s Twitter account. After actor Alec Baldwin’s repeated mocking impersonations of Trump, the President described the sketch comedy show as “totally biased” and unwatchable.”

Last month, a boycott of Star Wars: Rogue One was launched on the rumor that the film included anti-Trump scenes.

And while actors from film to the Broadway stage have been outspoken against Trump, most Hollywood executives have remained mum and others have even joined Trump’s administration.

Walt Disney Co. Bob Iger, who endorsed Hillary Clinton and co-chaired a major fundraiser for her campaign, sits on Trump’s bipartisan “strategic and policy forum.”

Meanwhile, Hollywood film financier Steven Mnuchin has been tapped to head the Treasury Department.

This is the first thing I think of when I hear Mary Tyler Moore. Suppose it's because I grew up in the 1990s.

Another one bites the dust

Had been married three times... her only son has been dead for 36 years (from an accidental gunshot - where was she when it happened?). No lineage accept being part of a failed ideology.

Her life serves as an example to all women who crave the eat pray love, you can have it all life. "Put this one with the others."

... I got the bang.

Definitely. They probably started out as typical Baby Boomer shit-libs, wanting to question any 'authority'. Over time, that evolved into a specific strategy to weaken all pillars of western culture that could threaten (((their))) march towards financial and political takeover of their host countries.

As Steve Sailer says, almost all the actions of modern liberalism can be explained by asking one question: "is it good for the Jews?"

If the answer is yes, you can be sure it will be celebrated on TV and in the movies. If not, it's called "Nazism".

More often than not, what's good for (((them))) is not good for the rest of us...

Do you consider the anti-jew groups to also be good for the jews? Is it an unfalsifying premise, then?

Or are you just saying, regarding modern "progressive" agenda, is it good for the jews as a group?

What's the quick answer for why homosexuality is good for jews? I have an idea of what you say, but it'll be interesting what exactly you do come up with.

Moore divorced her husband when her son was 5, and married eventual NBC Chairman Grant Tinker the following year. It was only then that the Mary Tyler Moore show was created, which was produced by a company formed by Tinker and Moore called MTM productions. I guess they tought that was a better name than the Grant Tinker's Show for his Wife.

RE: Mary Tyler Moore Dead at 80
here is a story with a lot more about her life.

she largely abandoned her son for her job, skipped his graduation.

her sister committed suicide and her son shot himself when he was 24. He was a gun collector and supposedly accidentally shot himself in the face.

she was an alcoholic, had plastic surgery, and cheated on her husband.

Mary Tyler Moore was a symbol of feminism for baby boom women - she not only was the first woman to wear pants on TV, but personally and as the character on TV she chose career over family.

On TV, it turned out beautifully, as the song says, you're going to make it after all. Well, in real life her choices didn't turn out so well. They never followed up on the TV show to show her as a 43 year old alcholic living with her cats and getting plastic surgery to stay relevant.

Why the omissions? I think the corporate owned media and their owners have an interest in pushing feminism and destroying both the traditional family as well as the middle class. We're getting a little far afield from the OP, so I'll stop right there.

I enjoy reading your insights. You seem to have a lot to say as it pertains to this subject, and as the OP, I would in no way take offense to your posts "getting a little far afield," so feel free to take this thread in whatever direction you choose. It seems a lot of this stuff is so interconnected, it's hard to really have a limited conversation about it. It's almost necessary to go beyond the scope of the original post to truly gain a better understanding.

Ultimately, it becomes a question as to whether one wants to limit discussion to one individual puzzle piece (Mary Tyler Moore) or expand it to include how that piece fits in with the rest of the puzzle (the promotion of a liberal agenda using the medium of film/TV).

well the corporate owned media, Hollywood, academia, government, etc. have been promoting a feminist agenda since the early 70s. That is 45-50 years.

WHY they have done so really should go in its own thread, and there probably is one already.
