The gentleman being interviewed goes by the stage name "Skam Dust" and has a YouTube chanel featuring music he produces. He also has appeared in other "random interview" catcall videos. I find his appearance in this video highly suspect.

Personally I would never do it. But I don't believe gals for one second when they say they don't like it. I'm against catcalling, on the grounds of sheer pointlessness. A guy like him is an amusing character, but any time I've seen catcalling in action, it happens exactly the way it does in the video. Guy calls out to woman, she ignores him and keeps walking, so he calls again after her, louder. She continues to ignore him until she is out of sight.

The number of men with the ability to properly approach a woman, and engage her into an interesting conversation, is vanishingly small.

As a black man I must agree. From a young age I would sit and watch as brothers would cat call and not understand the point, the girl always kept walking. One day when I was hanging out with my boys in high school (I was around 15)they were catcalling this fine ass freshman, and she was walking away- on instinct I just walked up and started a conversation with her,and got the number. My boys were dumbfounded, after that day I made up my mind if I wanted a girl to just go up and talk to her.

In an odd way I think catcalling ,at least with black people, is more about social acceptance among male peers than actual acquisition of a female. The only time a catcall has ever been a useful tool for me is when I already know the girl and it is done as a joke. I get annoyed when fat women catcall me(even though I am polite about it) so I can imagine how women feel .

As far as positive attention goes, women just need you to give them the once over with your eyes. They notice it and it gets the message across.
