Until robots earn a paycheck and can be exploited by women for money -- women won't fully turn to robots. That said, should technology advance to a point where robots are earning a living, it's a safe bet the war between man and machine predicted in "The Terminator" movies will be fought over pussy.

They'll need to combine the too. I don't in any way doubt your prediction as it gets refined and actively researched on. It'll be something like this that'll cause our species to die out.

PS, if you are paranoid of robots/AI like myself watch this video below. They only started working on this thing in 2010 and back then could barely figure out how to make it place 1 foot in front of the other. Give them another 10 years and we are in trouble.

I know this is the same thing I always say when the robot issue comes up, but I'll worry about humanoid robots when battery technology either improves 1000x--unlikely--or they invent micro reactors of some kind. Batteries are a really shitty way to power anything mobile; you really need some kind of built-in energy generator that you can quickly refuel for it to be feasible. That's how living beings work, after all. We eat fuel and produce our own energy from it.

As it is, cutting edge batteries are so unstable any robot wandering around would be a structure fire waiting to happen.


Edit - To add to the above, I looked around a bit but I couldn't find anything about the battery life of the Atlas robot. I bet it's substantially less than an hour and if the thing has to do any real work, it might be just a few minutes.

It's a market that's eating away the attentions of a lot of the unattractive chicks in Japan, and it's on the verge of hitting it big in the US market. These things have undergone absolutely explosive growth in the US in the past few years.



Are they as good as a real man? No, but they don't require that you shower, exercise, have social skills, wear decent clothing, or be able to cook. All they require is that you have a cellphone and like 5 bucks to pay to download one.

For a generation of women that doesn't want to exercise or be able to cook, they're an incredibly enticing proposition.

I don't understand how you can make gameplay for a dating sim on the female side. Being seduced is an inherently passive activity and wouldn't lend itself to game design the way the male version does (slay enough fat women to level up your penis so that it does enough HP damage to the attractive woman and makes her cum)

Oh yeah, I think I ran across one of those games back in college looking through the stuff people had on Direct Connect (this was back in kazaa days, so having dudes with terabyte hard drives with low-res DVD rips of movies on the campus LAN was quite the boon)

Do you have any current data on their growth? This guy was talking enthusiastically about it back in 2012 but had to admit it wasn't likely to take off.

Chainsaw engines produce their power by running really, really fast, and you can't run one for all that long continuously before it fails. So you need a much bigger engine running much slower for good longevity. And if you want to run continuously, you need to build a very robust engine that can handle the abuse. Much more robust than a typical car engine even, unless you want to replace the power pack every 4 months or so.

So if I upgrade that proposition to a relatively small, very robust internal combustion engine genset and a capacitor bank, sure, you could do it.

It's going to be a lot heavier than a chainsaw and an alternator though--I estimate the low end weight of the whole power pack contraption is on the order of 80-100 pounds including fuel--and then you have the issue of exhaust gases and the possibility of fuel leaks to worry about. Plus it would take 3 gallons of fuel a day minimum to run. Oil change every 10-14 days.

And the noise the engine makes is going to be obnoxious to put up with for long. It would be nothing like a chainsaw, but still very intrusive.

So... yes, technically, you could do that. But it would be a product nobody wants because it would be way cheaper, easier, and less annoying just to hire a guy for $15 an hour to do whatever it is you want done by your robot.

(The estimates above are based on the weight, maintenance, and fuel consumption of modern high efficiency, continuous run-capable quiet gas generators and the assumption that the robot is on the order of 10% as energy efficient as a human, which is pretty generous.)
