Yep, that my current situation at the present moment. Good chuck of loans came from private run state loan company that is excepted from fed regulations. My credit score is about 400s thanks to them and sold my loans to creditors after I told them I going to school. I'm lucky my family is supporting me. Another example of the madness of high ed: a friend is preparing for a third retake on practice clinical exam for the US medical license. The test results tell one subject area he failed in, but no other details. You spend a good 2000 dollars per test and your get vague results.

A parasite sooner or later will kill it host. Right now were are the death throes of the host. There is reason why the Boomers are going to most hated generation in history, this is one of the reasons.

The fact that well-connected Ivy League graduates get good jobs is irrelevant. A Harvard Law degree is of course a viable investment and if you put yourself 200k into debt for that, then it is fine.

But that is Ivy League - the rest of the colleges are not worth the paper they are printed on.

As for the collapse - predictions of a "collapse" are certainly sometimes mired in superstition and hucksters' cons. The UK "collapsed" as well in the early 20th century due to the immense debt load it had to take in order to conquer and police the world for the globalists. The country did not disintegrate into lawlessness and chaos. It just went through an austere period and then later played a much smaller role in the world economy. The same will happen to the US and China will take on over.

The very top of college graduates from the best schools and some of the best degrees in the lesser colleges - they will do fine. Much of London has uni students who have rent covered by parents - as anyone who has dated girls from UCL, LSE and King's College will know all too well.

Rich families are staying rich. They aren't forcing their children to work 20-30 hours part time just to afford the rent while they study. They are helping their children to attend prestigious expensive elite universities that will help them to secure elite high paying jobs. I dated one English girl with a £2m flat in Farringdon and another Milanese whose dad paid £1500m to cover her Clerkenwell 2 bed flat. It's more normal than you think in a super rich city.

The game is different for those with property, Marx would probably see the capitalist / worker dichotomy in terms of propertied / non-propertied today. "All property is theft" etc. I recall a 5 bedroom council estate flat in Kentish Town with no living room, paper thin walls, only one toilet/shower room. Minimum rent £600 per room per month - landlord was raking in £3k per month for a terrible but well located flat. Bear in mind most of the neighbours were on benefits and under Right to Buy you could buy a place like this for £50-90k not that long ago.

Now Londoners with assets don't need to worry about pensions or even work, you can pass this flat on to your kid and they will never need to work a day in their life either. It's a different world. And for anyone that thinks I'm whinging, my family have a rental portfolio to pass on to me that stops me from worrying about poverty once I can no longer work - but I can't think of how different it would be if my family was dirt poor instead.

Today it's more about family wealth than individual wealth. Salaries aren't high enough to buy even "starter properties" in the most economically productive cities. Asian families have always seen it from this perspective - now it's happening in the West where smarter families are very aware that individualism is not enough.

The whole reason I went to medical school was to avoid subjective tests. Step 1 was hard but it was a cold, fact based, objective test (it is a P450 inducer or inhibitor, it is gram + or gram-, minimal change disease responds to steroids, ect.). But Step 2 CS with SP's and random factors is some bullshit.

Now they are pushing re certification exams for us after we pass our specialty boards. So you do residency, pass your boards, do your CME's and then they want to take a recertification exam (basically the boards all over again for your specialty), that is a money grab.Doctors said enough and are suing, I hope they win.

It is incredible how quickly it has reverted back to that state of affairs. 'Native Londoners' are incredibly family orientated. I am now talking about the ones who now reside in Essex or at the very least, the suburbs. Although they are even leaving these places in their droves. Most of them stick to an almost tribe like state, giving custom to the same businesses and shops; keeping things within the family if possible. It is quite interesting in fact.

Middle class families who traditionally relied on obtaining degrees in the humanities subjects, have really done a disfavour to their children. In fact, interestingly enough, I see a lot of these millennials, now relocating overseas.

Law school enrollment is down and for the first time in history it is more men than women (that is a bad sign, men go where the money is). I went broke a month ago Studying for the Step 2 CK and had to do some document review (legal grunt work, bottom of the barrel law work) for quick cash. Where I work there are multiple lawyers from Emory, Univ. of Chicago, Brown, and Columbia. The legal market is saturated. There have been multiple mergers and closures of Law Schools and firms. The last project I was on in August had 4 attorneys that were going to medical school(including me), and 1 going into nursing. If you are not going to Harvard, Yale, Stanford, or NYU law school is no sure bet.

Many schools are reporting record enrollment, however STEM enrollment is up as well. That was not the case in the 1990's when I was in school, there was always empty spots in STEM classes. Now STEM classes quickly fill up and it is a sausage feast. Upper level STEM classes (the "weed out" courses like Organic Chemistry) are the true test of the tale, anyone can handle intro courses , but when upper level stem courses are full the paradigm has shifted.

Many men have checked out into porn and video game land in cheap apartments or their parents house. You do not notice because you are not online gaming ten hours a day playing video games with your clan running into the same group of jobless dudes on your friends list night after night on Call of Duty. You have a job , you have shit to do-these men don't. When the legal market went to complete shit and I was applying for jobs non stop, I was one of these men-Buying cheap beer, playing Shadowrun FPS, living hand to mouth in my one bedroom apartment ,and hitting the gym, burning through my savings waiting for a job to come through. If I did not have a girlfriend at the time I would have been living on porn because I did not have the money to go out.Once I decided to go into a MD/PhD program, I stopped playing video games because I had shit to do.

Things are not good out there, and despite what the media tells you the recession never ended. The 80's S and L bubble lead to recession and bailout, this was ended by the 90's consumer debt bubble which lead to recession, 90's recession was ended by the dotcom bubble which burst in 2000, the dotcom recession was ended by the real estate bubble which burst in 2008, there has been no real bubble since then except for the car loan bubble and the student loan bubble both of which did not create jobs. Things are not good out there for the common man.

The UK was forced to sell off its empire to pay off WW2. It definitely did collapse in a very meaningful way.

I think there are many different things at play.

Kids who never went to college were never taught financial responsibility. I have High School friends who still live at home, work some shitty hourly gig, and take out 25-45K car loans, at the very least. Their pictures with their "baby whip", usually a SRT Charger/Challenger or a Mustang GT and love to ask me why I still drive a almost 9 year old SUV. Geez, I don't know nigga.....maybe I'll rather have my own place to live? (contrary to what RVFer Brian Shima's accusations). Working for 15/hr and making 500 car payments is not smart....some of these homies have kids and used to have their baby mommas live with the guy's mom and dad.

This type of shit is what happened in Mexico and the reason their parents migrated to the US, now their offspring is pulling the same shit stateside.

Millennials also have shitty work ethic. My previous company would grind your ass to the bone but you were making 54K entry level, most quit because they could not take the job and go back to making 15/hr. Some would not even give a notice, some would leave during their lunch break, others just not even show up the next day after two weeks. No, being the treasurer at your fraternity doesn't fucking count as job experience.

That is actually a sign of a couple of factors:

1) rising sausage fest due to predominantly male immigration and the rise of the fatocalypse
2) sexualization of youth and willingness to sell pussy, do porn - the moral standards are shifting
3) economic hard times coupled with the ever greater expectations of women to have their dream lives

But the crux is in the detail. Only the hottest or most devious girls can actually constantly make money off it. And depending on what their aim is, they likely spend the cash as fast as they get it.
