Give it time. Once we get a really nasty financial crash where there's no more money for welfare and food stamps, people will harden the F up because they'll have no other choice, or they'll starve. The current system of coddling people allows them to create imaginary problems in their mind, hence the boredom that leads to this sort of self-mutilation.

Too much free time, not enough personal challenges. All we need is some hardship to right the ship. Not cheering for a failure of the economy, but it certainly could have some positive unintended consequences of dealing the degenerates a blow.

^ Perhaps, but I can't see anything like that happening for quite some time. I think it's much more likely that being normal (or 'right wing' as they'll frame it) will become the new counter-culture among youngsters and that girls will flock to it as they always do with male-led movements.

A very close friend of mine is a tattoo shop owner and artist.

Seems ng things like this drives him crazy. The tattoo artists that pur this goofy crap on these people are being totally irresponsible.

My friend will only do something on your head or neck if you've researched what you want and understand the negative affects its going to have. He also won't do it if you are under a certain age.

If you are a good tattoo artist you want your stuff to look good. Everything you do. A big part of that is who the person is, and where on their body the tattoo is located.

The universities have been leftist since the late 1960's. But this madness seems to have popped up only in the past 3 to 4 years at most. I remember reading an entertaining article about the University of Oregon's ultimate Frisbee team and how they were suspended from travel because of too much partying. The school hired a chaperone. But he started partying with them as well! The same team got into trouble for their practice routine of one side wearing only shorts and the other side wearing only shirts, sans shorts!

This was around '10 or '11 and I remember thinking at the time: "yep, the kids are still normal and A-OK".

I started hearing about micro-aggressions around '12, and its all been downhill from then.

Whatever it is, its recent and very sudden. I wonder if there is a bio-chemical explanation for it all.

As someone currently in uni, this is all scarily accurate. I'm in an art/business school (guess which of those I'm making use of), so I get to see the core of the girls we wince at. Yes, it's as bad as it is on the internet, sometimes worse since these girls don't have instagram or whatever they use now to hide behind.

Got with a girl a while back when she was decent looking (not knockout, but a little better than average) she and I were freshmen at the time. After chopping her hair off, dying what was left of it red, and putting on an embarrassing amount of weight, I honestly wince whenever I remember there was a time I got with her (juniors now).

Frankly on my uni most girls fall into two categories: knockouts in their prime, and girls so ugly you have to physically avoid looking at them or risk getting sick. There are very few 'average' or '''cute''' sorts of girls, just the two extremes (which sort of surprised me. I expected more of the shy stereotype look at an art school. There are some but I was honestly a little disappointed). Though the good news is since this is an 'art' school as much as it is a business one, I don't exactly have much in the way of male competition here other than the exchange students walking around (who are all here for business as well). I've even seen guys walk around in drag (and not just the theatre majors either, though they'll walk around campus in costume for whatever reason too). They're still not as disgusting as the neverending hambeasts though.

I know some people will want to get pretty deep with the strange forces that are at play here, but it is pretty simple: ugly or strange people turn to the counter-culture when they don't feel like they are getting the attention they deserve.
